hi! New to this all but I started a new claim for my daughter and it was received and stamped on 30th October, reaching 9 weeks and no response as of yet, any ideas of the waiting time ?

@Lougle thank you

@xxAmy oh, mine was received on the 25th October so fingers crossed I hear soon. I’m almost scared to contact them, I’ll leave it until next week to call.

xxAmy · 05/01/2022 22:17

@tangledzebra
Fingers crossed for you 🤞🏻 Let me know if/when you get an update

Pugsnotdrugs101 · 06/01/2022 07:39

@xxAmy mine was recieved 18th oct and still nothing :( I rang yesterday and has been with the decision maker since the 30th. Hoping I hear soon! X

xxAmy · 07/01/2022 15:34

@Pugsnotdrugs101
Fingers crossed to you hearing soon with the outcome that is deserved 🤞🏻🤞🏻 Such a horrible wait xx

Conspiracyornotr · 07/01/2022 21:00

I rung the other day I send my forms in November but are still processing Octobers . Said another 6-8 weeks.

tangledzebra · 07/01/2022 21:03

I called today and they said they will be working on my claim this weekend, apparently they have staff who are working weekends as they are so busy at the moment. They said I should receive a text by Wednesday. If not to call them.

🤞🤞🤞🤞

RoarySaury · 07/01/2022 21:09

PIP claim was sent in June, had my interview a few days ago, was told it would be eight to twelve weeks for a decision...

Pugsnotdrugs101 · 07/01/2022 21:12

@tangledzebra when were your forms recieved? Hoping we both hear this week! I’m going to call again Monday 🙈

Pugsnotdrugs101 · 07/01/2022 21:13

@tangledzebra 25th October, I read back, my bad 🤣 hopefully soon! Mines been with a decision maker since the 30th and still nothing and I called again today to check :(

NameChanged15729 · 09/01/2022 10:50

It’s coming up to 8 weeks since I got a dated letter saying they received the forms and 12 weeks since I actually posted them.
I’m guessing the wait is from when they scanned them into the system and not when I actually sent them?

This wait is causing me so much anxiety. It’s weird because I do actually get middle rate dla for my oldest and I don’t remember feeling this nervous waiting for the decision. I had a lot more evidence. Dd is ‘more disabled’ (sorry! I didn’t know how to word it!) than ds but because of that the evidence is harder to get for her because she doesn’t have the understanding to do the assessments. Coupled with Covid and appointments being harder to get I’ve only been able to send in a paediatric report and a speech and language report.

I’m somewhat less concerned about having to do a mandatory reconsideration because by that point her statement of sen should be ready and I can send that in as evidence. Surely they can’t argue with a document that actually states this child has needs that mean she legally needs additional school support!?

NameChanged15729 · 09/01/2022 11:28

Also I don’t know if anybody can answer this but if dd is awarded dla, will the backdated payment effect universal credit payments? I’ve tried googling and I know it doesn’t effect monthly dla but I’m not so sure about any backdated amount.

tangledzebra · 09/01/2022 12:16

@NameChanged15729

I feel nervous too but this is my first time claiming, the system seems quite detached and laboured- there doesn’t seem to be any communication re: the claim until a decision has been made, so you feel at the mercy of a random person who will decide if your child/ren will be allocated the money.

Re: your universal credit, do you mean will the backdated claim for DLA will be viewed as income From a universal credit view point?

NameChanged15729 · 09/01/2022 14:58

tangledzebra exactly! It’s not helping that from everything I’ve read a large part of whether your claim is successful depends on who’s desk it lands on. It feels so impersonal having a decision like this made by somebody who has never even met our dc.

Yes, I’m a bit concerned that if dd does get awarded it I’ll get a backdated amount that universal credit might decide is income and then I won’t get universal credit that month.

Good luck with your claim, I hope you get the news you want Smile.

tangledzebra · 09/01/2022 18:57

@NameChanged15729 - thank you. I’m going to call tomorrow morning; I have already decided to ask them to look at it again if I get a negative answer.

My understanding is that DLA is not seen as income for universal credit, so the backdated claim will not make a difference.

Fingers crossed that you also get the result you want.

Pugsnotdrugs101 · 09/01/2022 19:32

I’m gonna ring again tomorrow morn as it will be exactly 12 weeks for me and it’s been with the decision maker since the 30th so praying I have an answer either way! Good luck @tangledzebra

Conspiracyornotr · 09/01/2022 20:36

@NameChanged15729 it doesnt matter about a diagnosis as such . It goes on the amount of needs that child needs day - night . My son hasn't had a diagnosis yet and he doesn't sleep well sometimes 2 3 am in morning . He is a danger to himself so can't be left alone he has been excluded from school 3 times beacuse he can't cope he is over hyper all the time and has meltdowns over tiny things my son is only 6 and I have had to leave work beacuse school keep sending him home sometimes I have a few hours if I'm lucky x

xxAmy · 10/01/2022 10:52

Anyone have any update?
I called this morning, and I was told they’re working on claims up to 16th October… although I was told 25th October last week 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Nowmum43 · 10/01/2022 10:54

My 12 weeks was last Tuesday, I got a letter saying that they are running behind and if we are awarded DLA it will be back dated to when they received the application.

I've been lurking here.

Hi ladies.

Just to say I've called too.

they told me last week, they were working on claims they received on the 19th October 21.

xxAmy · 10/01/2022 11:15

It seems us November lot have a few weeks wait ahead still. I couldn’t help but call 🤦🏻‍♀️ Il leave it longer than a week this time!

@Pugsnotdrugs101 any news for you?

tangledzebra · 10/01/2022 11:19

Hi everyone.

I called and spoke to someone this morning who said that they are working on claims but couldn’t tell me when mine would be looked at. I explained I had called last week and was told it was allocated to a case handler and the operative this morning said she wouldn’t be able to tell me that information, so I asked if she was saying if the person I spoke to last week was wrong and then she said, let me read your notes and then said, yes it has been allocated but I can’t tell you when it will be ready. She was very dismissive.

I do appreciate that they must get asked the same questions all the time but she spoke to me like I was an idiot and a pain.

A bit of understanding wouldn’t go a miss, im sure we would all rather we weren’t in the position that we have to provide additional care- emotionally, physically and financially.

I am on my knees financially, I’m a single parent and I’ve had to leave my job to care for my child and am struggling. It’s tough.

Sending ❤️ To everyone in this process

NameChanged15729 · 10/01/2022 12:16

Hello, sorry it’s me again!

I just phoned asking for an update and was told they are currently working on claims received for 23rd October. I don’t know if that is helpful to anyone.

Mine is apparently with a case worker which is more nerve wracking than I thought it would be. Does anyone know how long it usually takes from there?

Robyn81 · 10/01/2022 12:49

Hey can I ask what date your form was received?

xxAmy · 10/01/2022 12:56

@NameChanged15729
When my eldest’s claim was with the case worker she rang me to let me know she was looking at her claim & was just waiting on information from her school. I had the decision the same day.

Not helpful but it seems much different now to a few years ago 😣
