hi! New to this all but I started a new claim for my daughter and it was received and stamped on 30th October, reaching 9 weeks and no response as of yet, any ideas of the waiting time ?

@Suzzie101 I googled the number you said and that’s Northern Ireland, (so guessing that’s where you are?) I’m uk Smile

Suzzie101 · 31/12/2021 22:46

@Pugsnotdrugs101 yes I am also in the uk, it’s maybe just different offices for different claims , I’m not sure

Pugsnotdrugs101 · 31/12/2021 22:47

@Suzzie101 oh! Was that the number they gave on your form? The one on my form is the same on on the gov.uk website but when you click to the Northern Ireland it gives the number you’ve been calling lol!

@Pugsnotdrugs101 so much confusion, that is the number from my form🙈

Pugsnotdrugs101 · 31/12/2021 22:51

@Suzzie101 weird! Well you’re clearly getting through to the right office haha!

KatnissNeverdone · 31/12/2021 22:52

We've just changed over from DLA to PIP as DS turned 16. We returned the forms in July and received the award about 2 weeks ago. Really annoying as he got an increase from MRC to enhanced rate but they don't backdate with PIP apart from new claims.

Suzzie101 · 31/12/2021 22:53

@Pugsnotdrugs101 going to give it another week and maybe try again, I feel like a pest when I’m ringing all the time lol

OP posts:
Suzzie101 · 31/12/2021 22:54

@KatnissNeverdone oh my goodness that’s a massive wait time, it’s unfortunate about not being able to backdate especially when it took so long

OP posts:
Pugsnotdrugs101 · 31/12/2021 22:57

@KatnissNeverdone that is a long wait! Annoying for you that they don’t backdate either! :(

Pugsnotdrugs101 · 31/12/2021 22:57

@Suzzie101 I’m the same but I just want to know lol! Don’t want to wait for a letter as that could take ages 🙈

Suzzie101 · 31/12/2021 23:00

@Pugsnotdrugs101 I am the absolute same, when I received my letter it was dated 2 weeks previously, it’s so annoying, I sit like a child every day waiting on the postman haha!

@Lougle

No interview. Just paper assessment.

Not sure how to quantify how much evidence we sent but your evidence sounds really strong.

TowandaForever · 31/12/2021 23:07

@Lougle

Perhaps if your child's is called for interview ask a professional to write and say it is not suitable for them and it should be a paper assessment.

Lougle · 31/12/2021 23:28

@TowandaForever I can only hope. We're lucky in that DD1 went downhill badly last year, so all the assessments have come at once. If we were applying without that, I'd have to use historic paediatrician letters and her EHCP. But because she got so ill, she had her ASD assessment in September, her EHCP review in October, an Ed Psych assessment last month, and has been seeing a psychiatrist regularly since February 2021.

She can't be left in the house unattended and she can't leave the house unattended, so I'm hoping they'll give her enhanced mobility as well as enhanced care.

I say 'lucky'. I mean, lucky that we have the evidence. I'd much prefer her to be well, but she also has lifelong disabilities so it will be good to get her the PIP rate she deserves.

TowandaForever · 31/12/2021 23:38

@Lougle

Definitely sounds like you should get those rates.

In my head I prepared to go to mandatory reconsideration and tribunal. I knew my child should get pip.

All the time I didn't hear from the dwp I treated it as no news was good news!

tangledzebra · 01/01/2022 08:05

@Suzzie101 will they tell you on the phone what the outcome is or will they tell you to wait for the letter?

Suzzie101 · 01/01/2022 08:09

@tangledzebra i think they can tell you on the phone if it’s been awarded and the letter is already posted, i’m not 100% sure though

With DLA, my middle child got knocked back the first time. I wrote, pointing out all the things I had said which refuted their statement of decision and then said 'I can only conclude that the decision maker didn't read my claim form because if they did, they would have awarded DLA.' It came back very quickly with middle rate care and low rate mobility, which is what I had thought it should be.

SpookyScarySkeletons · 01/01/2022 10:16

@BooksAndGin

Mind you I put in for my PIP review this year as well and had a new award within 6 weeks as well. Think it's the office by me dealing with them quicker than other offices.
Wish I had your office! I'm 6 months and counting!!
TowandaForever · 01/01/2022 12:27

@Lougle

Both my children get pip now.

I think you're going to be fine as you've been through this before.

NameChanged15729 · 01/01/2022 12:45

I sent my form in mid October and it was received 13 November. I’m guessing I still have a bit of a wait on my hands then!
Does anybody know if awarded whether it gets backdated to the date you phoned and requested the form or the date they received the claim?

PotsAndPan · 01/01/2022 12:46

We had been waiting since beg October for our claim for our 4 year old with asd literally just got it for hrc hrm on Thursday and so so relieved as it felt like we had waited ages

Hankunamatata · 01/01/2022 12:53

OP are you NI based? As dla in NI is solely handled by offices on NI with different wait times to the rest of the uk.

Hankunamatata · 01/01/2022 12:54

Also NI for education they do not have ehcp they still have Statements of SEN
