AIBU to be utterly fed up of seeing Snoopy in M&S

Am I only one fed up of seeing Snoopy clothing in M&S? He's on women's pyjamas, slippers, socks, knickers, sweatshirts and heaven knows what else. Do they really think the majority of women want to buy this stuff?

Agree - and other cartoon characters too. I don't understand why stores think adult women want children's characters on their nightwear.

xxxGirlCrushxxx · 16/12/2021 20:05

yanbu

im sick of all the mickey mouse and general 'disney' tat in primark and asda and just about everywhere....on adult items and homeware

someone will come along and say its fabulous though,i'm sure

DobbyTheHouseElk · 16/12/2021 20:06

I remember Snoopy in the 1970’s but apart from M&S I haven’t seen him around recently.

misskatamari · 16/12/2021 20:07

Yanbu! I detest snoopy and Co, something about the drawings of the people has always grossed me out. I don’t know a single adult who cares about snoopy. My mind actually boggles at why they make huge ranges of this stuff. Who buys it!?

FortunesFave · 16/12/2021 20:07

It's a good sign of M&S being dumbed down. They never used to sell cartoonish things for adults. It's more of a Primark thing I'd have thought. Though I do like Snoopy myself I wouldn't buy knickers with him on. I have a tote bag though....

poolblue · 16/12/2021 20:09

I appreciate some people like it, but surely it's a niche market and the stuff is all over the shop!

I bought one of the nighties. Blush

britneyisfree · 16/12/2021 20:10

That and fucking Percy pig. I couldn't find a single nice nightie the other day

Softpebbles · 16/12/2021 20:11

He was also on a cardigan in Sainsbury’s the other day 🤦‍♀️

MolkosTeenageAngst · 16/12/2021 20:12

YABU as presumably people buy them. I’m not keen on Snoopy but I admit I do own pyjamas/ slippers/ socks etc with other cartoon characters on such as Bambi, Totoro, Pusheen, Aristocats and Dumbo.

Swirlywoo · 16/12/2021 20:13

I have some Snoopy pyjamas... but agree, it should be a 1/2 item thing not the whole store. Especially in M&S. I also have to say that I don't usually buy themed clothing, ever, it was a one-off nostalgia thing!

I like snoopy but wouldn’t buy any character clothing.

xxxGirlCrushxxx · 16/12/2021 20:14

no I don't think people really do buy them much....they always seem to be in the sales

Stiffcondomhat · 16/12/2021 20:14

Agree, I always thought snoopy and Charlie brown were lazy fucks and their friends are absolute weirdos. Bhs used to be great for comfortable plain t shirt nighties, sigh.

And BHS did fab swimwear too!

I have the Woman's Snoopy hat on my wishlist. I'm also gutted I can't find Charlie Brown's Christmas on TV this year.

I think I may disagree with you.

Mrsjayy · 16/12/2021 20:16

It's nostalgia and M &S want to be seen as modern and not old fashioned. I've bought my adult DD a hat.

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 16/12/2021 20:16

I go into marks regularly and l've never seen Snoopy. What branches ya'll hanging out in?

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 16/12/2021 20:22

I admit to buying the snoopy pj's Blush. I forgot about them and rediscovered them and did think why did I buy those. I never usually buy cartoon character anything though. A woman at work loves snoopy.

NotTheOriginalFeargalSharkey · 16/12/2021 20:22

I will be off to m&s at some point then!
I have a very old snoopy sweater (1990?) That has a lot of memories...
I want to replace it!
I have a mickey mouse sweater from Asda. Quite a few people have complemented me on it. Dd chose it for me...its actually a nice weight sweater. Not too heavy, and no bulky hood.
But that's the limit of character clothes for me. No socks, undies, nighties... I will wear a character tee shirt.

Aprilx · 16/12/2021 20:23

I haven’t seen anything Snoopy related for years, so I quite liked it for nostalgia reasons. I have bought a Snoopy hat and a Snoopy sweatshirt. I am sure they don’t do Snoopy knickers, well not for adults anyway.

Bingbangbongbash · 16/12/2021 20:31

Peanuts actually has a long and fascinating history as a cartoon strip in various newspapers. Charles Schultz was praised for his social commentary and satire, and was also one of the first cartoonists to feature POC as regular characters. Not all cartoons are for kids.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 16/12/2021 20:32

My DD doesn’t know who snoopy is. So why does she need a sweatshirt with him on?

NeverDropYourMooncup · 16/12/2021 20:37

I found myself on one of those research panels. Every so often you get an email asking you to give opinions on designs.

Without fail, they are shit.

The worst thing, though? The toddler gloves and mittens with touchscreen bits so they can sit in their buggies and play on a phone. Toddler mittens for using a phone.
