AIBU to be utterly fed up of seeing Snoopy in M&S

Am I only one fed up of seeing Snoopy clothing in M&S? He's on women's pyjamas, slippers, socks, knickers, sweatshirts and heaven knows what else. Do they really think the majority of women want to buy this stuff?

I have a Snoopy tote bag too, I used it for a library bag until I began reading ebooks. But no, I don't want characters or brand name on my clothing. I am not a walking billboard.

MissMinutes24 · 16/12/2021 21:33

I'm an adult and love clothes with cartoon characters on them. Horses for courses.

foxgoosefinch · 16/12/2021 21:36

I’ve never got the trend for grown women dressing in children’s clothes or cartoon characters, any time it’s been in.

I used to buy lots in M&S for my DD - the baby and age 1-7 ranges have often been good. But the 7+ girls range is awful and full of overpriced yet cheap looking really ugly clothes. I don’t get why - surely Mini Boden et al make enough money that you’d think M&S would be positioning to catch some of that market? Instead of making cheap looking overly “fashionable” tat items?

@Stiffcondomhat

Agree, I always thought snoopy and Charlie brown were lazy fucks and their friends are absolute weirdos. Bhs used to be great for comfortable plain t shirt nighties, sigh.
Tiny bit harsh! Xmas Grin.
Longdistance · 16/12/2021 21:39

Maybe fun for my 8 year old self back in the 80’s. 2021 as an adult, erm, no.

icedcoffees · 16/12/2021 21:41

Aw, I love Snoopy as he's a beagle and we have a beagle Grin

I don't own any Snoopy clothes but this thread makes me want to go and buy some Blush

PrincessPaws · 16/12/2021 21:41

@MissyB1

I’m a huge Charlie Brown and Peanuts fan so yabu!! Don’t buy it if you don’t like it. I’d much rather see cool Peanuts stuff than sickly sweet Disney stuff any day of the week.
Why though does women's stuff have to be infantilised like that? We aren't toddlers, cartoons aren't a requirement
ChimChimeny · 16/12/2021 21:44

Bon marche is great for plain, comfy nighties, I always buy one for my mum from there.

Good job there is a range of clothing on sale then, both for men and women, with options with and without cartoons.

MiniatureHotdog · 16/12/2021 21:48

I hate character clothing for children, so why on earth I'd want to wear it as an adult I don't know.

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 16/12/2021 21:52

I love Snoopy / Peanuts and have a sweatshirt from Essential Antwerp with a sequinned Lucy on the front. Bloody love it. I was SO Lucy when I was a kid.

But I wouldn’t wear anything else.

BotterMon · 16/12/2021 21:54

Ooo I love Snoopy. Grew up with him and the Charlie Brown crew in the US. Off to M&S Sunday to have a look.

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 16/12/2021 21:54

Lucy Rocks in Sequins.

@Aprilx

I haven’t seen anything Snoopy related for years, so I quite liked it for nostalgia reasons. I have bought a Snoopy hat and a Snoopy sweatshirt. I am sure they don’t do Snoopy knickers, well not for adults anyway.
Yep they do, three pairs of Brazilians for £10 if you are interested.

It's a good thing you're not being forced to buy it then Hmm
LethargeMarg · 16/12/2021 21:57

It's not just m and s - Lacoste have a whole line of peanuts menswear -

Those are sold out in most sizes so they are obviously popular with a lot of women!

YANBU N and it's not just M&S, Snoopy is everywhere this year. I agree with others about cartoon characters in general on adult's clothing; it is part of the dumbing down of society. However, if we are going to have cartoon characters all over then Snoopy is preferable to eg Micky Mouse, Peppa Pig etc - I guess it's what you grew up with. They are probably trying to cater to the retro market but it's strange how things appear everywhere all of a sudden.

poolblue · 16/12/2021 22:04

I'm glad that some of you are pleased and are ordering Snoopy items as we speak. I don't want to be bah humbug about it but just think it's an odd choice to put on adult clothing for a mainstream supplier. Anyway I'll look out for you wearing your beanie hats and celebrate our diverse pleasures.

🙄
If it makes you feel better, alongside my Snoopy top and jumper I also have a Pride & Prejudice top and Great Gatsby jumper. And pyjamas with polka dots on them as well as Snoopy ones, as patterns are of course so much more intellectual Hmm

PeaceONoeuf · 16/12/2021 22:06

@Muststopeating I’ve been looking here for night gowns

JaceLancs · 16/12/2021 22:11

I’m not a fan of big logos or characters on clothing - I’ve got one slogan jumper which I rarely wear - maybe my taste in clothing is just different to people who prefer those things
I don’t understand why friends is such a big hit for children character wise this year either
My bug bear is too many synthetic fabrics or cheaply made nightwear - comfort is key here

rrhuth · 16/12/2021 22:12

I love Snoopy and all the Peanuts gang.

It's a bit maungy to be so bothered about something you don't have to buy.

I'm no fan of all sorts of things sold in shops but they don't bother me.

Whatisthisworld · 16/12/2021 22:12

🤣 So true

What is the woman’s Snoopy hat?!

Velvian · 16/12/2021 22:13

I find it utterly bizarre how much Rolling Stones clothing there is for children. Beyond weird. ACDC and Metallica to a lesser extent. I mean I'm in my 40s and the RS were ancient when I was a teenager.

I'm with you on the cartoon characters too. I went into H&M to find a hoody for my DD and the only nice length and colours all had Mickey Mouse on them.

Why would I want to further promote wealthy, ancient, white men by dressing my DC in their merchandise. So so odd. Much like the Playboy stationery in WH Smith when I was at school. Just...???
