AIBU to be utterly fed up of seeing Snoopy in M&S

Am I only one fed up of seeing Snoopy clothing in M&S? He's on women's pyjamas, slippers, socks, knickers, sweatshirts and heaven knows what else. Do they really think the majority of women want to buy this stuff?

@earlydoors42

I love Snoopy! Thank you, will check M&S online as ours closed down.

I grew up reading my parents' Peanuts books and got my own too to add to them. I'm 45.

I still read my peanuts books Smile

Well, there was the Peanuts Movie which came out in 2015. And there are currently two new Snoopy series on Apple TV. Snoopy has been a household name for decades.

One mediocre movie 7 years ago does a legend make 😆. I can't say I hear many dc I work with coming in talking about snoopy so I don't think any of them watch it.

Eyesofdisarray · 17/12/2021 10:36

I love Snoopy and have done for years- I have quite a bit of Snoopy stuff.
I need a hat though...
Agree too much Mickey everywhere. And as for Percy Pig!!!! Can't stand those sweets or him 😣

TuftyMarmoset · 17/12/2021 10:39

@liveforsummer there’s also nothing stopping kids from watching stuff that came out before they were born. I was born in 1995 so most of the shorts came out before my time. I still watch It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown every year! I’m sure the kids you work with have heard of the Disney classics even though most of them came out decades ago too. It’s like saying will kids have heard of the Lion King, of course they have because it’s very famous. So is Snoopy!

Have just received the Snoppy Pjs for DD, she is in her 30's, I panicked when I saw this thread earlier!
Anyway she loves Snoppy and we always listen to Charlie Brown Christmas on Christmas Day, so I thought be a nice present for her. I'm so glad I did get them, they are a really lovely pair of Pyjamas, the material is soft and seems comfortable. I got 25% off on the Sparks Advent calendar, which prompted me to look at Marks in the first place.
Mind you the Nightdress I ordered for myself seems very thin material compared too previously, and don't get me started in the decline in quality of their vests and leggings.

AdobeWanKenobi · 17/12/2021 12:52

MN doesn't like character clothing as it's considered "common"

I must confess, never in my life have I felt the need to judge another person on what they are wearing, be that a designer jumper or Mickey Mouse T Shirt and I find it very strange indeed that others are shallow enough to do so.

icedcoffees · 17/12/2021 12:53

@liveforsummer

It's bizarre, I mean I kind of get mickey as he has whole holiday resorts all over the world based on him. He's a household name but where has snoopy suddenly come from. How do kids in 2021 even know who he is?
Because their parents watch it and share that with them? Because Snoopy is a beagle and lots of children love dogs and/or own dogs?

Do you really not share anything from your childhood with your DC? Some of my favourite shows, songs and films came out well before I was born!

Changechangychange · 18/12/2021 04:07

@icedcoffees

Mickey and Minnie though, just why? Those characters must be 100 years old by this point. It would have been like putting the Fairy Liquid baby on clothes when we were kids. Who wants clothes with their granny’s childhood cartoon characters on?

Yes, because probably the two most well known cartoon characters in the world are definitely comparable to some baby on a bottle of washing up liquid Wink

Have you ever seen a Mickey Mouse cartoon? I haven’t, and I’m 42. My dad went to see Fantasia when he was a child, and that was about twenty years after it was released.

I’m obviously aware that the Mickey image is still everywhere, but at this point it’s just a logo, rather than an actual character that children know or like.

icedcoffees · 18/12/2021 06:27

@Changechangychange of course I have - loads of them, in fact.

Fantasia, Fantasia II, Mickey's Once Upon a Christmas (and the sequel), Disney's Christmas Carol with Mickey, Minnie, Donald etc. in. I'm sure I could name more but I've not been awake very long at this point Grin

They're all on Disney+ so they're very accessible to people.

toomuchturmericinwatermelon · 18/12/2021 08:16

Percy Pigs are yummy but aesthetically speaking he is one ugly motherfucker.

allycat4 · 18/12/2021 20:20

I've seen loads of Mickey Mouse!! Was very common for cartoons to be on tv in the 80s!

Timex have a Peanuts collection

ImInStealthMode · 19/12/2021 13:14

Just been and bought the Snoopy beanie hat on the strength of this thread alone.

Spectacularly misses point of thread.

ImInStealthMode · 20/12/2021 20:23

@Changechangychange I'm a bit late to the party here but the Disney Channel started in 1983 and he's been a fairly regular fixture on that ever since, along with various films (Mickey's Christmas Carol and the Prince & the Pauper in my 80s childhood).

My Godson was obsessed with Mickey Mouses's Clubhouse when he was little, Wiki tells me it was made/shown from 2006 to 2016 so a whole generation of kids who are still fairly young now will have watched that.

Shade17 · 20/12/2021 20:40

I’m a man in my 40s with 2 Snoopy watches. They’re quite sought after!
