I'm wondering...what did you do with your wedding/engagement ring after divorce?

OP posts:
IcedBaileysOnly · 16/12/2021 19:02

I'd sell it if it were me. Spend the money on a treat.

Swirlywoo · 16/12/2021 19:03

YABU because it's a non-renewable resource. Sell it to an antique shop.

Wombat69 · 16/12/2021 19:03

Sell or give away, definitely don't chuck it.

Thefrenchconnection1 · 16/12/2021 19:03

Mine was put in a cupboard. I got burgled and it was taken. I got my full money back. I was keeping it for my daughter otherwise

Nsky · 16/12/2021 19:03

Annoyingly sold wedding ring, kept engagement ring, even as scrap some value

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 16/12/2021 19:03

Sell it and buy something nice or keep it for a rainy day when you may need money.

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 16/12/2021 19:04

Exchanged it for a diamond bracelet.

ANameChangeAgain · 16/12/2021 19:04

Sell it to an independent jewellers or donate it to charity. Dont throw it away, diamonds are very recyclable.

Santahatesbraisedcabbage · 16/12/2021 19:04

nannybeach · 16/12/2021 19:05

Iggly · 16/12/2021 19:06

HerRoyalNotness · 16/12/2021 19:08

Binned it. It was worth about $50. Gave me great satisfaction throwing it was tbh

Chasingsquirrels · 16/12/2021 19:08

Both upstairs in my jewellery box, as is mine & DHs wedding rings from my 2nd marriage (widowed).

I'm not bothered about my engagement ring but my wedding ring is particularly to the place we were living at the time and I wouldn't want to get rid of it.
My 2nd wedding ring I still wear periodically and will have resized for my other hand.
I'm not sure about DHs but I'm not ready to get rid of it.

GrumpyLivesInMyHouseNow · 16/12/2021 19:09

Have it made into something else
Give it away
Sell it

Suzi888 · 16/12/2021 19:10

Sell it
Scrap it
Give it away

Cherrydown · 16/12/2021 19:10

I sold it and took my friend to Barcelona for the weekend with the proceeds.

urbanbuddha · 16/12/2021 19:10

Sell it and give the money to Women's Aid.

HolidayTime2021 · 16/12/2021 19:10

Firstly-you offer it back
If they refuse.-A work colleague brought hers in and tried to give it away
I called Oxfam- they sent a courier (she was very rich and from a very well known family)

DrSbaitso · 16/12/2021 19:10

Sell it, surely.

givethatbabyaname · 16/12/2021 19:11

It’s worth money, if not sentimental value.

Sell it, put the money towards something that means something to you. I’ve done similar and stocked our local food bank.

Kernow54 · 16/12/2021 19:11

I had my ring made into something else which I gave to my daughter. Don't throw it away. Either re-purpose or sell.

ImInStealthMode · 16/12/2021 19:11

Sold them both, bought myself something nice.

Wolfcub · 16/12/2021 19:12

I'm having mine remade as part of a broader remake of some jewellery. The wedding band will be used to improve another ring I wear regularly and the diamonds from the engagement ring will join others in another piece of jewellery. I have no emotional attachment to it now and it's a pity to waste good diamonds

Calyx72 · 16/12/2021 19:13

Keeping mine to get remodelled by jeweller to give to my niece when she is 16 or 18

dangerrabbit · 16/12/2021 19:17

Sell it in Hatton garden or other wholesale traders
