To be pissed off my husband lost his wedding jacket?

He went on his Christmas do and not only did he decide it was on to walk home 2 miles in not the best weather (I still can't believe his friends would let him do that) but he lost our wedding jacket, that does make very, very pissed off/sad.

Has he epxlained why he took his entire bonus out with him? Or was he wearing his 'special' velvet jacket all day at work? Even so, leaving it locked in the boot would have been safer than taking the whole lot on the piss.

SmallBoyFury · 04/12/2021 10:28

Honestly, if I lost an item of my clothing and DH gave me the silent treatment and sulked downstairs for the night over it, I’d be half considering what to wear for the divorce.

Bonnealle · 04/12/2021 10:30

Can you please tell us what he does to get dodgy money in a brown envelope and not pay tax on it?!!!

FinallyFluid · 04/12/2021 10:30

And the band played believe it if you will......

Halt your Vogue subscriptions, @Courtier is the Oracle on what's in fashion or not!

Aren't all fashions old fashions really?! I'm obviously in need of some education, seeing as I'm from Essex. I rarely get the chance to follow such things as most of my time is spent dancing around my handbag. I only pause when my white stilettos start hurting, and to be honest, the ten pairs of fake lashes makes it quite difficult to read.

icedcoffees · 04/12/2021 10:34

So within the space of two hours, he's sobered up, walked the two miles back to the pub, found his jacket, keys and bonus and been sober enough to drive back home again, all before 10am?

It's a Christmas miracle Grin

SawdustandHay · 04/12/2021 10:35

Annoying, but you still have your wedding dress.

Frazzled50yrold · 04/12/2021 10:38

I'd be more concerned that he falls into the trap of being the work clown. Losing the jacket was just collateral damage, drunkenly walking 2 miles home is just stupid.

GetTheFlockOutOfHere · 04/12/2021 10:41

Wouldn't bother me at all. It would be much worse to lose your wedding dress. A generic mens jacket wouldn't bother me. Most men rent them anyway!

Hmmm yeah quite... Hmm He would definitely have been over the limit!
Coviddy · 04/12/2021 10:48

What pub is open before 9am ?

fellrunner85 · 04/12/2021 10:52

So much bollocks in this that I won't pick up on most of the obvious points, but I must take issue with 30min 5K, which the first "gold standard" for decent running ...

Erm, what?! A 30 min 5k is very slow for a man of average fitness, and more of a fast walk tbh. Anyway, as you were..

Fellrunner85 · 04/12/2021 10:52

@coviddy

Wetherspoons?!?!

AlwaysLatte · 04/12/2021 10:54

It's "his" wedding jacket, surely?
I think OP means the jacket from 'our wedding'

WhenPushComesToShove · 04/12/2021 10:56

It's just a fucking jacket, annoying to lose it, but honestly just let it go. Why get het up over stuff like this

UnshakenNeedsStirring · 04/12/2021 11:03

You sound controlling, its his jacket, not yours. Have you never lost anything? Weird

Yep, as above. Wetherspoons. I have been on my way to work in the past (before covid when I didn't work from home,) and I would see people with a beer at 8.45am...
GetTheFlockOutOfHere · 04/12/2021 11:12

Outside Wetherspoons I mean - on the benches outside the pub.

icedcoffees · 04/12/2021 11:13

@Coviddy

Wetherspoons and other chains.

Where I used to live, plenty of pubs opened for breakfast at weekends too.

WelliesWithHeels · 04/12/2021 11:13

I thought Prince William looked quite dapper in his velvet jackets recently--especially the deep green one from the Pakistan tour that he wore again (I presume) to the Earthshot event. But I am American so maybe I don't have a full grasp of who is "chavvy" and who isn't?

CrackersDontMatter · 04/12/2021 11:13

@Terribleluck

I'm downstairs that's how I'm dealing with it, possibly to go upstairs and MAYBE apologize. I think some posters are missing the point that we wear our wedding outfits every now and then for special occasions that mean something to us. I wouldn't have given a toss if it had been some other jacket, but that one has special memories and not just the wedding!
But it would have eventually worn out. I understand that it has sentimental value but things do get lost. Your reaction seems a bit extreme, it's his wedding jacket, you are placing your own sentimentality on something that belongs to someone else and you seem to have reacted as if he'd thrown your wedding dress in the bin. Are you annoyed at the late night and that he was drunk and are focussing on the jacket?

We wore non traditional wedding clothes for our wedding, and also wear them again but I couldn't get worked up about this, I'd think it was a bit sad but it's not something we'd fall out over.

MrsLarry · 04/12/2021 11:19
@Roundles 2mi in 20 mins would be the same as a 30min 5K which the first "gold standard" for decent running... So according to you he should have run home, not walked..
Ffs OP. Give it up!
