To be pissed off my husband lost his wedding jacket?

He went on his Christmas do and not only did he decide it was on to walk home 2 miles in not the best weather (I still can't believe his friends would let him do that) but he lost our wedding jacket, that does make very, very pissed off/sad.

@gannett half of my family is Canadian and they don't say anyways

Courtier · 04/12/2021 09:50

@Terribleluck

I think the chocolate box is empty, the wotsits bag is sealed.
They'll still be mouldy
Nsky · 04/12/2021 09:53

Now relax and get over it

RubyKitty · 04/12/2021 09:57

@Terribleluck

Anyways, he's gone back to try and find it anybody picked him in town, as he now thinks he randomly dropped it off while walking around town.
I hope he’s not driving this early in the day after getting hammered last night
@JaninesEyePatch nothing's wrong with Essex but it is known for being chavvy... and they were a trend 3 years ago
The entire county? Seems a bit of an outdated stereotype.
Velvet jackets and suits are very much on trend at the current moment. Gucci in particular are dressing all the (non chavvy) celebrities in them. Daniel Craig wore one to the Bond premiere.
Definitely not a "three years ago" trend.

grapewine · 04/12/2021 10:03

So many dripfeeds.

Get rid of the sweets. That's so gross.

grapewine · 04/12/2021 10:06

This is all such bollocks, frankly. Rewrite the novel.

theDudesmummy · 04/12/2021 10:07

My parents recently moved house after 45 years, and I told my mum she should take the opportunity to seriously declutter, including getting rid of my wedding dress (from my first wedding, 1988), which I knew she kept in her cupboard for years (I moved to a different country after the wedding and didn't take it with me). She told me that she gave it away to a friend's daughter for fancy dress years ago!

My wedding dress from my second wedding was a shop-bought candy-striped dress and jacket, I gave it to charity when I myself moved house about 3 years ago! (I knew I was never going to fit into it again!).

Courtier · 04/12/2021 10:09

@JaninesEyePatch it's an old trend. Just because Gucci is doing it doesn't mean it's not outdated. Gucci is quite chavvy in itself. Daniel Craig isn't a paragon of class...

And not everyone in Essex is chavvy but the entire county is known for being chavvy.

DaisyNGO · 04/12/2021 10:10

OP "His workmates always like to get him drunk, because he becomes the clown."

He has a say.

satci · 04/12/2021 10:10

What's a wedding jacket?

DappyApple · 04/12/2021 10:10

Glad your dh got his jacket back (and the keys &bonus) but you really can’t blame his friends for him getting drunk and walking home alone.

He’s a grown man and has got to take responsibility for himself. He knows what happens when he gets drunk, yet still continues to get himself in such a state that he gets himself into stupid situations, Without any regard to those around him!

His friends shouldn’t have to police his drinking or behaviour.

He needs to grow up!

Pawprintpaper · 04/12/2021 10:11

@CloudyStorms

People lose things sometimes. Fine to be momentarily sad. Not fine to dwell and make him feel even worse about it I agree. If someone loses or breaks something sentimental then it's better to be supportive, think of ideas like ringing the bars or generally be like oh sorry its lost my dear but we still have the memories etc. Not be angry.
Agree with this, it’s only things, he made a mistake, we all do, forgiveness is so important in a marriage.
ExtraOnion · 04/12/2021 10:14

@Shiningpath

So wasted he loses jacket, keys and cash bonus. You’re horribly concerned about him walking two miles.

Then a few hours later he’s perfectly fine to walk or drive back to a pub that’s open at 9am where the jacket is magically found.

Calling bullshit on this whole thread.

I just read it from the beginning …..at best it’s inconsistent, and worst it’s just lies.

Utter nonesense

HoppingPavlova · 04/12/2021 10:14

So much oddness. Who gets a Xmas bonus and doesn’t know how much it is? Maybe it was 350, or maybe 500 or maybe something else? Surely, if your boss gave you a bonus of that magnitude at some point in the day you would be interested enough to count it?

Not doubting it, but I’ve never heard of a cash bonus in a professional job. Sounds dodgy AF.

As for the jacket Confused. Do people even fit in their wedding clothes after a few years, gosh knows we didn’t a few years after let alone a couple of decades. I can’t think of anything odder than getting into your wedding clothes to go out. Why, to re-create your wedding or you need to do it to remember it or? Seriously, if I had that time spectating thrust on me I may well ‘lose/accidentally ruin’ my outfit on a night out so I was free from any future madness of pretending I’m replaying a day in the past.

Nothing lacks class like ignorant snobbery, @Courtier.

Roundles · 04/12/2021 10:16

Unless any one has medical issues, 2 miles is a 20 minute walk, so i cant understand what the problem is there.

Get him a new jacket for christmas for your date nights.

nocnoc · 04/12/2021 10:17

None of what he’s done would bother me. He’s an adult and you’re not his mum

Cam2020 · 04/12/2021 10:19

Haven't RTWT but my goodness, you are infantilising the man!

It's his 'fault' he got drunk and that he decided to walk home - no-one else's. I can see you waiting around for him to message you re pick up is annoying and I'd be irritated by that too, but from a waste of my time stand point, not a controlling one. You sound more like his mum than his wife!

Would LOVE to see your interpretation of what is currently on trend.

Oh dear. Please stop digging.

Terribleluck · 04/12/2021 10:20

@Roundles 2mi in 20 mins would be the same as a 30min 5K which the first "gold standard" for decent running... So according to you he should have run home, not walked..

You're a charmer, aren't you?

WhenSepEnds · 04/12/2021 10:24

I think this would only annoy me if he lost it before the wedding....
