To be pissed off my husband lost his wedding jacket?

He went on his Christmas do and not only did he decide it was on to walk home 2 miles in not the best weather (I still can't believe his friends would let him do that) but he lost our wedding jacket, that does make very, very pissed off/sad.

@satci

What's a wedding jacket?
It's a new sort of blender. Really good for making soup.

Only joking.

Do you know what a wedding dress is?
Do you know what a jacket is?

You should be able to work it out from that.

Blackberrybunnet · 04/12/2021 11:26

"Our" wedding jacket???

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 04/12/2021 11:29

@Shiningpath

So wasted he loses jacket, keys and cash bonus. You’re horribly concerned about him walking two miles.

Then a few hours later he’s perfectly fine to walk or drive back to a pub that’s open at 9am where the jacket is magically found.

Calling bullshit on this whole thread.

No idea if this is true but where do you live that pubs don't serve breakfasts and partners can't give each other lifts to retrieve lost items

Clearly as well as not kowing that troll hunting is banned you aren't even good at it.

I'm just going to leave this here:
runninglevel.com/running-times/5k-times*

I'm glad you did! So a "beginner" 5k time for the average bloke is around 30mins, not the "gold standard" you claimed. A good time is sub 20.

(This chart is very very generous btw - my 5k time has certainly never been "elite" before - but we digress)

MrsSkylerWhite · 04/12/2021 11:34

It’ll probably turn up tomorrow. If it doesn’t, it’s just a jacket. Only thing of sentimental value from my wedding day is my husband Smile

DrManhattan · 04/12/2021 11:46

This is too funny. Op posting links to running sites, completely missing the point of their own thread.
Anyways it sounds crap to me lol

Olliesocks · 04/12/2021 11:50

I actually still keep a box of chocolates he gave me when we first started dating (and a bag of wotsits...) I'm a sentimental hoarder

That’s fucking bonkers @Terribleluck

LindaEllen · 04/12/2021 11:53

@Terribleluck

I'm downstairs that's how I'm dealing with it, possibly to go upstairs and MAYBE apologize. I think some posters are missing the point that we wear our wedding outfits every now and then for special occasions that mean something to us. I wouldn't have given a toss if it had been some other jacket, but that one has special memories and not just the wedding!
And I think YOU'RE missing the point that he didn't lose it on purpose, so there's no point being pissed off with him. Everyone makes mistakes. Your marriage is strong enough to deal with not having a sodding jacket (although by the sound of your posts, maybe it's not).

It's a jacket.

Cosyblankets · 04/12/2021 11:54

What am I missing? He lost his license but drove to the pub?

PigletJohn · 04/12/2021 11:55

from where I'm standing, the problem is that he gets drunk and does silly things.

As drunks do.

Shiningpath · 04/12/2021 11:56

@Cosyblankets you’ve missed a massive drip feed where all that was years ago. Still apparently relevant enough to bring it up now though.

Cosyblankets · 04/12/2021 11:57

I'm none the wiser lol.
I just see him being treated like a child, blaming his mates for getting him drunk, like he had no choice

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 04/12/2021 11:58

One presumes his wedding top hat kept the bulk of the rain off?

Not something I would but people says it’s bonkers or gross need to get a life.

Plenty of people keep a slice of their wedding cake to keep as a memento/good lick charm.

It’s a harmless thing not deserving ridicule or censure. Grow up.

tallduckandhandsome · 04/12/2021 12:01

*luck

VexedofVirginiaWater · 04/12/2021 12:06

I know how you feel OP about the jacket.

My ex lost a lovely hand-knitted jumper that my mum knitted for him - one which he had asked for btw - because he got pissed and left it on the back of a chair. It was only the second time he had worn it.

It irritated me because he did like it but he was always leaving stuff - like a schoolchild does - and it made me feel like I had to check every time, and it always impacted on the family in some way. We had to replace things, or he lost money - and it was never his fault.

jmh740 · 04/12/2021 12:13

Why did he have his Xmas bonus on him?
You are treating him like a child, he is a grown man who sounds like he has a drink problem, his friends are not responsible for his behaviour he is.
If his jacket is so precious then he shouldn't be wearing it out and about.

JaninesEyePatch · 04/12/2021 12:15

@WelliesWithHeels

I thought Prince William looked quite dapper in his velvet jackets recently--especially the deep green one from the Pakistan tour that he wore again (I presume) to the Earthshot event. But I am American so maybe I don't have a full grasp of who is "chavvy" and who isn't?
Well Prince William isn't for a start. Please ignore the other poster.

"Plenty of people keep a slice of their wedding cake to keep as a memento/good lick charm"

Do they? I've never heard of that in my life. Gross!!

R3ALLY · 04/12/2021 12:23

I suspect there is more going on here? He seems to make a habit of drinking more than he says he will and not doing what he promised. I like a drink but having to be put to bed or bathed after a session is not normal. And the fact you could’nt sleep points to deep seated worry . I suspect you are worried about his drinking in general? I speak from experience…
I bet if you went out with your mates he wouldn’t be driving the roads looking for you. Take care

Clymene · 04/12/2021 12:31

Cool story bro

I definitely wouldn't be 'licking' our 15 yet old wedding cake! 😆

Oh get out, no they absolutely don’t! What a weird thing to do!
MsAgnesDiPesto · 04/12/2021 12:49

@icedcoffees

So within the space of two hours, he's sobered up, walked the two miles back to the pub, found his jacket, keys and bonus and been sober enough to drive back home again, all before 10am?

It's a Christmas miracle Grin

All while being banned from driving…
VexedofVirginiaWater · 04/12/2021 12:50

I thought you kept the top tier for a Christening cake, but never heard of keeping a slice. I sent slices of cake to people who couldn't attend, but I didn't keep any - apart from the top tier, I put it in the freezer.

Isn't there a superstition that if you put some under your pillow you will dream of your future husband?
