Would you date a binman?

Inspired by another thread about being a binman as a career.

You meet a guy on a night out or OLD. Seems nice enough and nice looking, all good. Tells you he's a binman.

YABU - immediate turn off
YANBU - give him a chance

Definitely worth a shot.

Mydogdoesntlisten · 02/12/2021 09:21

OMFG

HailAdrian · 02/12/2021 09:22

Of course!
A. Has a job
B. Capable of dragging self out of bed early
C. Hopefully somewhat physically fit

furbabymama87 · 02/12/2021 09:23

What's wrong with bin men?

DementedPanda · 02/12/2021 09:23

Well my binmen are fit, cheerful and handsome... so yes!

vodkaredbullgirl · 02/12/2021 09:24
Hmm
nodogz · 02/12/2021 09:24

Errr yes.

amymel2016 · 02/12/2021 09:24

How is this even a question 😂 What’s wrong with a bin man?!

Yutes · 02/12/2021 09:25

Why wouldn’t you?

  • has a steady job
  • can be committed to a job
  • has income
  • probably washes/ has decent hygiene

Is this a class thing, a smell thing, or a different thing?

Topseyt · 02/12/2021 09:26

Bin men are human beings just like the rest of us and they perform a very valuable role. Give him a chance is what I would say.

Yutes · 02/12/2021 09:26

There may be other reasons you don’t like him. And that is fine. But having a job as a bin man is, for me, a bit of a strange solitary reason to bin someone off

vodkaredbullgirl · 02/12/2021 09:26

At least they are working.

toconclude · 02/12/2021 09:27

Night owl here so no. The time they get up is what my son refers to as "a time of day that shouldn't exist"

Chely · 02/12/2021 09:27

Yes.
My dh used to work with raw sewage, he got a wash after so all good.

GodIsAVegan · 02/12/2021 09:27

So glad that everyone so far, 17 people, have voted to give him a chance. How awful if people wouldn’t. Although there would be some career choices that I couldn’t cope with, a bin man isn’t one. Not that I’m looking. 🤣

Gearedtoyou · 02/12/2021 09:27

Yes. From what I know of them, they are fit and strong, cheery, don't mind a bit of hard work, work hard for in a team/for their mates, have regular employment on good terms...why not?

fedup65356 · 02/12/2021 09:28

Why wouldn't you?

SofaKingKnotBovvered · 02/12/2021 09:28

Immediate turn off?
Give him a chance?
Wow, seriously, these are the choices based solely on their job?

Kendoddsdadsdogsdadsdead · 02/12/2021 09:28

Binman yes. Tory no.

HailAdrian · 02/12/2021 09:29

I'd actually rather date a binman than a rich/famous celebrity. In fact, if I ever find myself single again, I will actively seek out binmen for the reasons mentioned on this thread.

MountainAshley · 02/12/2021 09:29

What a horrible post. Why wouldn't you date a binman, if he was someone you liked?

PlanktonsComputerWife · 02/12/2021 09:30

The existence of the song "My Old Man's a Dustman" suggests that someone has shagged such a person at some point in history.

I think I'd go out with anyone except a journalist, politician or outreach coordinator.

WhoWants2Know · 02/12/2021 09:30

I worked in HR recruiting refuse workers, and it was a hugely sought after job. Council posts are a good place to be.

Kippersfortea · 02/12/2021 09:30

I would absolutely date a bin man. It's not a job I could do as I'm a weakling, with a strong gag reflex, phobia of maggots and I seem to be allergic to early mornings. But it's something which is useful to society, an honest living. I actually think I would rather date a bin man than many, many other jobs.

Suzi888 · 02/12/2021 09:31

No, because you clearly think he is beneath you. Hmm
