DS16 walking like Frankenstein so that he doesn't crease his new trainers

Is this a thing now? DS says he can't flex his feet as his trainers will get creases in them and they won't look so good. The trainers in question are Air Force 1's which he bought with his own money from his Saturday job. He's been walking around the house like this for 2 days now.

AIBU or is this completely bonkers? And does anybody else have stories of their teens doing mad things that they can share? Thanks.

Bonkers, but this is so funny 😂

BlowDryRat · 30/11/2021 05:42

That's brilliant. My DS OTOH wrecked his brand new school shoes and lost his much-coveted Nike trainers within 2 weeks of starting term. Clarks replaced the school shoes but even his new ones now look like a prop from Oliver Twist.

thesunwillout · 30/11/2021 05:44

😆

Coffeeonmytoffee · 30/11/2021 05:46

My dd has these things she puts in her trainers to prevent creases. They must be kept crease free at all cost.

Jacaranda75 · 30/11/2021 05:49

@Coffeeonmytoffee Can you tell me what those things are please? I will get them for DS. I can't have him walking around like this, he's an embarrassment.

If he's concerned about creasing them and it's making him walk funny why doesn't he just not wear them in the house?

SD1978 · 30/11/2021 05:52

Like this- juts put anti crease sneaker into google- they are sold in a few places, Amazon does it

GallbladderWoes · 30/11/2021 05:56

At least he's not wearing them two sizes too small to stop the creasing, apparently that's a "thing" too 😂

JustLikea · 30/11/2021 06:04

How bizarre I can see DD doing this but not my DS16. His Nike Air Force are very creased. And DD 14 white and black Air Force are very creased and she's long given up on cleaning the white ones. She's weird about creased in her air Jordan's though and Nike blazers

DeadButDelicious · 30/11/2021 06:08

I remember back in the 90's one of my brothers friends spilled something on his tracksuit bottoms and exclaimed, with such horror in his voice, "oooh me Umbro pants!" it was only a drop of juice or something and those pants were designed to play football but here are these young lads walking around in sports gear that must be kept pristine. Things never change do they?

To this day we still say "ooh me Umbro pants" if we spill something on ourselves. Grin

Grin This makes sense now, my DD14 wants a pair of Doc Martens for Xmas, she asked " do they crease?" At the time I was Confused
Ylvamoon · 30/11/2021 06:13

My SDS (14 at the time) got dressed in a white track suit, parked himself on the settee playing on his switch. Then announced he can't go out because he doesn't want his clothes dirty!
We were meant to go to his nans 65th birthday party... 🤦‍♀️

LefttoherownDevizes · 30/11/2021 06:14

Football mad DS13 did this on sunday and refused to walk on(frozen) grass for great of creating and getting his new (all black) 270s creased and or dirty.

If only her doesn't the same care on not losing his £80 coat after a week, getting holes in the knees of his school trousers after 3 days or generally spilling food on himself/the sofa every meal.

He has just started having daily showers though, small mercies!

purplesequins · 30/11/2021 06:16

yep bere as well.
shiny black, big brand 'jogging suit' (oh how ds hates that term!) that's kept pristine. cheapo joggers for actually exercising.
trainers are (atm) not that important it seems. but uses a shoe tree over night.

RedHot22 · 30/11/2021 06:17

@steff13

This I was thinking the same

Although I have hoovered in heels before when I had no parties to go to.

RedHot22 · 30/11/2021 06:20

I hate my shoes until they have creased Smile

DD does this. Going out for dinner, tracksuit and trainers. Walking the dog, dress and heels Hmm

2bunny · 30/11/2021 06:33

Damp towel over the trainers will irin out any creases there some YouTube videos about it, yes teen dd who irons her trainer, not her clothes just trainers 🙄

2bunny · 30/11/2021 06:34

*iron

HeronLanyon · 30/11/2021 06:36

I remember more doing the opposite - trying desperately to break in eg doc martins etc - the shame of them looking new !

LiterallyKnowsBest · 30/11/2021 06:42

Have you seen the reviews for those toe shields?

Shock
Toddlerteaplease · 30/11/2021 06:44

I used to walk on tip toes when I had new Magic Step shoes. The heel was clear and glittery and I didn't want to get it dirty.

Platax · 30/11/2021 07:19

I assumed you use those crease protector things when you're not wearing the trainers, a bit like shoe trees. But the reviews complain about how uncomfortable they are - and I can well imagine they would rub your feet raw. How are you supposed to use them?

VitalsStable · 30/11/2021 07:20

We had this a couple of years ago, even got the trainer shields, complete knobber!!

AlphabetAerobics · 30/11/2021 07:26

Those trainer things are making my feet hurt just thinking about them. If they stop the creases, surely they stop your foot flexing and you’ll waddle like a constipated duck anyway.
