To be jealous of Amanda Owen (Yorkshire Shepherdess)

Her life just looks amazing. Yes obviously hard at times and not perfect. But 9 lovely children, she's gorgeous, kind husband, successful career, meaningful job and being able to spend time outdoors with her family. All the animals and space.
What I'd give for that life!

And me

WhatHoMarjorie · 19/11/2021 19:07

Not me. Would be my worst nightmare!

But good luck to her, seems to be living the life she wants. And so many people never manage that.

Think she's split from the husband though.

Sirzy · 19/11/2021 19:08

I thought she had split from her husband?

And don’t forget we only see the edited highlights

CoffeeWithMyOxygen · 19/11/2021 19:10

I can’t see anything saying they’ve split??

MarriedNotAtFirstSight · 19/11/2021 19:12

Oh god, no.

I find her highly irritating and smug.

Honkingallthewaytothebank · 19/11/2021 19:14

Apparently she's a bit horrid to the (now ex) husband though?

WildWombat · 19/11/2021 19:15

We absolutely only see the highlights. Can you imagine how different things would have been back when the older kids were primary age and under? How in god's name could she possibly have managed without help back then? We've only seen the period where the older kids help a lot around the house and farm including childcare of the little ones while Amanda and Clive are out hoiking sheep about.

Supermohican · 19/11/2021 19:16

She is not with her husband though? Despite what the fans want to believe. She does look amazing after nine children but let’s remember this is a rosy image being sold to appeal to people who hanker after an idealistic version of the country lifestyle.

It's been widely reported that they've been living separately, I don't really know who she is but have seen quite a few articles about marital problems
Wildrobin · 19/11/2021 19:17

I wouldn’t be jealous as such as it must have its challenges too but it did make me wish more children had that old fashioned outdoor life again. Ours do in a sense but we don’t have all the animals to care for so once we’ve had a woodland ramble or cycle we are usually back inside!

FourTeaFallOut · 19/11/2021 19:18

I'd quite like a gazillion kids and swathes of land but suspect I'd give it all up for central heating and decent WiFi.

VladmirsPoutine · 19/11/2021 19:22

I wouldn't like it as I'm much more suited to city life, wifi and having shops at walking distance but if it works for her great! She does however have a great air of confidence, accomplishment and presence.

1984Winston · 19/11/2021 19:23

Would absolutely love that life, I dream of owning a smallholding and being outside all the time

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 19/11/2021 19:27

I'm jealous for my dds sake, she would have absolutely loved to have grown up on a farm with all the space and animals.

I didn't know she'd separated from her husband but I'm not surprised it always seemed like a marriage of convenience.

itssquidstella · 19/11/2021 19:28

Her children don't go to school, do they? Not for me. Children need GCSEs!

FourTeaFallOut · 19/11/2021 19:29

I'm sure they do go to school.

FinallyFluid · 19/11/2021 19:30

Local legend has it that she is vair friendly with one of the cameraman on this programme, I heard this about six months ago and I live in the Home Counties, so imagine that it is common knowledge where she lives.

I know one of the film crew. I heard the same.
A580Hojas · 19/11/2021 19:32

It's the absolute opposite of what I would wish for in life (both in terms of crowds of children and living remotely on a farm) so a very firm YABU from me.

garlictwist · 19/11/2021 19:32

She's split from the husband?? Noooo.

I am way too invested in this.

But their farming programme is my go-to feel good programme. What am I going to do now? I grew up in Kirkby Stephen so it reminds me of home.

Feelingofftoday · 19/11/2021 19:36

9 kids? Fuck that!

Yes the youngest has just started school this time, the primary school is an hour a way. Not sure how far the older ones have to go.
godmum56 · 19/11/2021 19:37

She has said that they haven't split and are not living apart. They are, however leaving Ravenseat for another, as yet unnamed, farm, not Anty John's which is still not habitable. No I wouldn't want her life.

Ragwort · 19/11/2021 19:38

My worse nightmare ......nine DC ? Hmm

Yes they do! They're always showing them going off on the school bus.
