To be jealous of Amanda Owen (Yorkshire Shepherdess)

Her life just looks amazing. Yes obviously hard at times and not perfect. But 9 lovely children, she's gorgeous, kind husband, successful career, meaningful job and being able to spend time outdoors with her family. All the animals and space.
What I'd give for that life!

@Feelingofftoday

9 kids? Fuck that!
So very much this Shock
RobinPenguins · 19/11/2021 20:25

I would hate her existence but different strokes for different folks. Never worth feeling jealous about someone else’s publicly displayed life though, do you believe everything you see on Instagram too?

opinionminion · 19/11/2021 20:27

Would love the outdoor life, just two children,DP, sheep and Tony the Pony !

Kikkomam · 19/11/2021 20:27

Her kids are all beautiful and seem very sweet.

CaptainMyCaptain · 19/11/2021 20:28

@itssquidstella

Her children don't go to school, do they? Not for me. Children need GCSEs!
They do go to school. One is at university and another one is doing an apprenticeship.
Tal45 · 19/11/2021 20:29

I grew up on a farm, it's fine as a child but relentless as an adult. I could never feel remotely jealous.

They do go to school. The eldest girl is at uni doing medicine.
Tal45 · 19/11/2021 20:30

And nine kids?? Why would anyone want nine kids? The world has far too many people in it already.

Kikkomam · 19/11/2021 20:31

Biochemistry not medicine

LittleDandelionClock · 19/11/2021 20:32

Well YANBU to be jealous, but YABU to think every other woman should be. I'm not . Why the fuck would I want NINE children? Confused And why would I want to spend all my time outside, with sheep? Confused It's not always going to be glorious sunny weather. Some years it pisses down half the year.

Each to their own, but I am happy with my life ta..., My one amazing child (a daughter,), my lovely village cottage, my lovely husband, my great neighbours, my gorgeous cat, and my little part time job where I work from home. I wouldn't swap places with anyone else. Plus, things are not always as they seem. Amanda Owen's life could be far from the perfect bowl of cherries you think it is.

@AliceAbsolum Maybe you should be looking at ways to improve your life, not wish you had someone else's...

GertrudeBElion · 19/11/2021 20:32

Hell to the nope. I come from sheep farming family, hence why I now work in a corporate office job (albeit from home)

Also 9 kids? The sheer worry of that... also when you have a lot of kids, the older ones tend to have too much responsibility put on their shoulders IMO

Having said that, she seems right enough, and the children are lovely.

Supermohican · 19/11/2021 20:32

Interesting that so many people repeat that Raven is doing medicine

elbea · 19/11/2021 20:33

@VladmirsPoutine I’m not from a farming family but studied an agricultural degree which has enabled me to manage country estates.

As I didn’t have an agricultural background I was required to get experience on farms, I wouldn’t have made a very good estate manager without an idea of farming. My degree was four years and I spent my summers and breaks farming as well as volunteering on the uni farm doing milking etc…

Bichette · 19/11/2021 20:35

I wouldn't want to be in her shoes, but I wouldn't mind being one of the kids.
Do you think they would adopt me? Surely they wouldn't notice another mouth to feed.

Actually, I think it's sad if they really are separating, although it's a bit rich to blame the media attention when they are the ones courting it with the tv programme.
Although it seems she is the driving force behind mediatising (is that a word) their way of life and now the fame has gone to her head and poor Clive is the one I feel sorry for.

Mushypeasandchipstogo · 19/11/2021 20:35

Her children do go to school and at least one is now at university. I believe that she has split from her husband though.

Supermohican · 19/11/2021 20:36

I was brought up on a farm. Even as a small child I hated it and I used to cry about some things that the animals went through.

VladmirsPoutine · 19/11/2021 20:36

@elbea I can't imagine doing anything similar! You certainly earned your stripes!!

TawdryBrush · 19/11/2021 20:44

Anyone who pimps their kids out for media / ££££ gets a down vote from me.

XingMing · 19/11/2021 20:45

I can't imagine the horror of nine [9] children.

WheelieBinPrincess · 19/11/2021 20:46

I think if you live on a farm that many children are just part of the livestock to be honest.

WheelieBinPrincess · 19/11/2021 20:47

I remember an episode where a little girl was feeling nervous about her first day at school…she was all ready to go, just a bit quiet! They talked her out of going and kept her at home! She’d have been right as rain with a bit of encouragement.

EdenFlower · 19/11/2021 20:49

It looks like a nightmare to me. I admire her, don't get me wrong, but I wouldn't want her life. And her house looks filthy.

Hmmm, just goes to show that even if you're famous/on telly, with nine children, it's very hard to give them all a good amount of attention. Just letting her stay off school coz they couldn't be arsed/didn't have time to deal with the issue is terrible!

She was only just 4, so they said she could start the following year instead. They know their child better than you.

I am not a fan of this shit either.
