Sofology!!!!

Has anyone else had a nightmare with sofology and got any meaningful resolution from then?
Short story our sofas were delayed, then we had 2 failed deliveries that we were waiting for even though they were never sent to the delivery depot, but still sent a text confirming delivery for the next day
Then when they did arrive they weren't the new sofas we ordered, they were someone else's returns, which were both broken, and had stickers on saying they had been returned
Now they have ordered us 2 new sofas that won't be here for 12 weeks!!!!
Best they could offer us was 5% discount
Also the option to walk away but there aren't any other sofas we like out there!!!

If there's nothing else you like then you'll just have to suck it up. This is why I only deal with DFS they just cannot go wrong. All these other companies are useless and often go bust, I hope you paid on your credit card. Good luck OP.

Alexalee · 16/11/2021 09:47

Dfs and sofology are the same company

Really??? Well that's news to me. I'd still stick with dfs they've always been brilliant. These sofa companies that don't have shops are always a risk IMO. For context we get new sofas every 2 years max we like to change them regularly and have always used DFS for 18 years.

Nandiniti · 16/11/2021 11:17

Similar experience OP, they're an absolute shit show. Will never deal with them again - at the moment we have a sofa "on loan" (I queued for 3 hrs 18 mins to ask for that) because the chairs we ordered haven't arrived after 5 months, and are repeatedly being asked to arrange delivery of the chairs through the stupid account thing which doesn't work at all.

We waited 3 hours on their "chat service" and eventually someone answered and set a delivery date for 22nd November. We ordered them in June. But since then we've had another email saying our chairs won't arrive in the country until 19th Nov, so we think the chance of delivery is pretty slim.

The notion that they will note from their records that they have a loan sofa to remove upon delivery of the new furniture is laughable, they have no idea what they're doing and I really don't know what we'll do if they claim to know nothing about it. Sell it perhaps.

Never again.

we get new sofas every 2 years max

WHAT?? What do you do with the old sofas?

Confused
idontlikealdi · 16/11/2021 11:26

New sofas every two years!?!

ElsieMc · 16/11/2021 11:28

I was going to buy one via ebay but I read the reviews of Sofology and saw the delivery problems people were having. Whilst that would not affect me, people were also complaining about the terrible quality. To be honest op, I would have taken the option to walk away. Our local large furniture store are advising customers not to get rid of sofas at the moment because their lead times were 20 odd weeks! They offer some from the shop floor but obviously need their displays.

I would walk away. If you haven't already read Feefo or Trust pilot on Sofology, you might like to do so opo.

Mercurial123 · 16/11/2021 11:34

TotallySuper It's insane you buy so regularly just because you get bored of the old one.

I know friends who bought from DFS and the quality was rubbish.

StrawberrySquash · 16/11/2021 11:38

I sounds like they have messed up in other ways too, but all the furniture shops are having a nightmare with availability at the moment. I was looking for beds the other week with a friend and the saleman said it was very difficult - people are being quoted dates of May next year! And same friend has a loan sofa because they can't get her the one she ordered yet.

Alexalee · 16/11/2021 11:41

@TotallySuper sofology do have shops, and are definitely a subsidiary of dfs
Also I don't know I would take your word on quality if you only keep a sofa for 2 years, can't exactly vouch for longevity

I emailed sofology several times and took to Twitter.

Everything did get resolved eventually but sofology didn’t take any great measures to do so.

Dfs quality wasn’t great and our “leather” started to peel off as soon as we’d finished paying it off.

We’re happy with our sofology sofa now we have it but it was a bit of a nightmare

PermanentlyTired03 · 16/11/2021 11:43

I ordered a sofa in September and it won't be here until January! It's from sofology- I found their sofas the comfiest- I need a firmer sofa that's not enormous. Bit scared now after reading this post!Shock

LakesideView · 16/11/2021 11:52

We bought from Sofology a few years ago. Honestly, if you’ve got an option to change your mind, I would. They started falling apart just after they were out of warranty. Button falling off, arm sagged, just a bit naff. I’ll never be buying from them again.

nettytree · 16/11/2021 12:01

X Ray on bbc wales did a segment on this last night. Its a programme like watchdog. Watch it on iplayer.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 16/11/2021 12:06

I’ve had problems with both Sofology and DFS.

Quality is crap in both. Have had to fight for refunds with both, but would not back down.

Eventually got refunds in 4 figures from both.

Nyxly · 16/11/2021 12:32

I had loads of problems with sofology.

They arranged the removal of the old sofa. Then it turned out they had lost my new one. Left us without any sofas for 6 days until I emailed the CEO of dfs. Was here in 24 hours

DevilWaresPrada · 16/11/2021 12:44

"For context we get new sofas every 2 years max we like to change them regularly and have always used DFS for 18 years."

Thanks for that @TotallySuper
Do you have any other planet killing tips?

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 16/11/2021 12:47

I’d say 2 years is about how long a DFS sofa will last!

I’d rather spend that six years if that money and buy something that lasts.

PickleTheWonderCat · 16/11/2021 12:47

I'd just ignore @TotallySuper as they clearly didn't have a clue from the off ...

Diditreallylookawful · 16/11/2021 12:50

We got our sofa from Stokers. Don't know if they're country wide, but we've been incredibly impressed.

Yup, especially about sofa shops that dine have physical stores.

I must have dreamt of going in and ordering mine 🤣

Wow thread derailment! We give them to the British heart foundation who sell them therefore making money for their charity. No planet killing here. Oh once I also have one to the local church for when they have informal chats with their congregation who are grieving. Can't win on mumsnet though.

OP clearly I have no clue about sofology but I'd still suck it up if you can't find another type you like elsewhere.

I'll just assume you never send anything to landfill then. Don't throw stones from glass houses sweetheart.
ISpyCobraKai · 16/11/2021 12:53

People who buy new sofas every two years are great when you want a bargain, barely used, second hand sofa!

Thank you!! And we always donate so a charity makes the money instead of us. Some seriously harsh people on here!
