Sofology!!!!

Has anyone else had a nightmare with sofology and got any meaningful resolution from then?
Short story our sofas were delayed, then we had 2 failed deliveries that we were waiting for even though they were never sent to the delivery depot, but still sent a text confirming delivery for the next day
Then when they did arrive they weren't the new sofas we ordered, they were someone else's returns, which were both broken, and had stickers on saying they had been returned
Now they have ordered us 2 new sofas that won't be here for 12 weeks!!!!
Best they could offer us was 5% discount
Also the option to walk away but there aren't any other sofas we like out there!!!

I don’t know whether to be happy we are not alone in the Sofology boat or dreading that ours will never turn up or the problems we will have if they do. Ordered in June with advised September delivery, It went to October, then arriving in country on 18 November, to delivery on 15 November and currently predicted delivery 21 November. I doubt this as no word yet on collecting old ones which is supposed to be a few days pre-delivery. I’m not bothered about being here before Christmas (other than it will have been six months since we ordered), but old settees are literally on last legs and are propped up. Looking forward to other people’s updates.

I hate to say this but… Ikea, people!

You can test it and take it home on the same day (provided your boot is big enough or you hire a van).

They are sturdily built so they survive kids and most, if not all, have replacement covers available. Again, they survive kids.

My Ikea Stockholm sofa is very bad quality. Supposed to be the "premium" range but I'd have to disagree.

Long Eaton has sofa making factories. My friend bought from a small company and is delighted with it. Made in the UK and she lives close enough yo visit their dhowroom.

I've just looked at the company Long Eaton. They are fabulous. There's a sofa there I'd definitely have ordered if I hadn't just bought two from a local store.
Mercurial123 · 17/11/2021 12:04

Timeforwinterclothes there are a few small factories in Long Eaton. Arlo and Jacob make their sofas there or they used to.

I'm overseas but when I move back home I will definitely buy from one of these factories direct rather than a high street chain.

@Charliebong

My SCS sofas are ace, really well made, comfortable and arrived without any drama...good luck , it's not all doom and gloom.
Thanks. Fingers crossed mine will be too

We’ve now moved from delivery tomorrow to only arriving with them on 6 December, and a reminder not to dispose of our old furniture just yet. No Mr Sofology I won’t be disposing just yet as I doubt new ones will be in our house this year and I would prefer something to sit on.

Alexalee · 20/11/2021 05:54

Had a visit from the technician to fix the broken sofa so we can use it until the new ones arrive.
Didn't seem surprised by my experience, said he had worked there for a year and it has been going down hill since, worst customer service has ever been

When mine arrived, we found one sofa all ripped and the chair was a completely different colour to the sofa. The delivery drivers were reluctant to stick back on the truck but I refused to sign the delivery and they eventually did.
Was told would be a further 12 weeks. Took the £2500 out of our joint account despite not having the furniture. Eventually we received a refund.

Replace every two years! What a waste. Buy
Parker knoll quality, keep for decades

I've been looking for a large corner sofa but after reading experiences of the large multi chains I've been put off trying DFS etc. I've looked online at sofa sofa and Fabb but can't see anything quite right for my space. Any recommendation for other uk based companies please?

Mercurial123 · 21/11/2021 13:27

Sofa.com are great. Sofa workshop if you can get a deal in the sale.

BeaucoupFish · 21/11/2021 13:33

@TotallySuper
I knew you would have donated them as well

BlueBell50 · 09/12/2021 21:58

So this week’s drama...Sofology took away our old sofas yesterday, new ones didn’t turn up today. No apologies and we are now back of queue so it might be Tuesday before they arrive.

Lemons1571 · 09/12/2021 22:14

I second Sofa sofa. Made in the uk, delivered promptly and fantastic quality that lasts a decade. Never buy from a high st chain like DFS where you have to wait in a huge customer queue for your dubious quality sofa to be shipped from the other side of the globe.

Justkeeppedaling · 21/01/2022 13:41

I know this is an old thread but jumping on to say that the furniture we ordered about 4 months ago is arriving at the end of this month. One week earlier than promised.
Fingers crossed it's all there and not damaged!

GreenerWithTheScenery · 21/01/2022 13:56

My DFS leather Sofas lasted about 12 years through 2 kids and 4 dogs and are still going strong in a relatives house some time later.
Currently sat on a Sofology one, again, perfectly fine and probably about 8 years old. In fact, we went back 2 years later and bought a second sofa in the same pattern as we'd moved and needed an additional sofa. If it wasn't for the fact one is a bed I wouldn't be able to tell you which one is the newer of the two.
From memory there wasn't much of a wait for either.

Justkeeppedaling · 21/01/2022 15:13

Good to know. The sofa and chairs we are replacing are 18 years old and look it. They were quite expensive at the time though.

phishy · 21/01/2022 15:40

We've had our sofas since 2016 and I feel like I've just about got them worn in to my liking!

I hope to get another 7 years out of them at least!

Lockedoorsopen · 21/01/2022 15:44

The last time - and I wont be returning, the sales assistant told me that every night I had to turn the pillows over before I went to bed and they wasn't really for sitting on and got squashed quickly ...true story.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 21/01/2022 15:51

I didn’t think Fabb were in business any more. The store we saw recently was closed and empty.

The service we had from DFS was excellent. We were told the timescale at the outset and they kept us updated regularly. We agreed to accept the sofa early if necessary and it was delivered two weeks early, which was fine.

They made their safety arrangements very clear and they’re the only company I’ve dealt with over the last year, to have followed them through. The delivery people were masked, they were efficient, arriving when they said they would and were done and dusted in ten minutes.

Joystir59 · 21/01/2022 15:51

I get my furniture from.the British Heart Foundation. Brilliant service!

Pleased to report sofas arrived today, one week early, and in perfect condition. We love them!
Maybe Sofology have addressed their issues.

AnnieSnap · 28/01/2022 22:16

@TotallySuper

Really??? Well that's news to me. I'd still stick with dfs they've always been brilliant. These sofa companies that don't have shops are always a risk IMO. For context we get new sofas every 2 years max we like to change them regularly and have always used DFS for 18 years.
Sofology does have shops! I’m sorry you have this issue with them OP. I have bought furniture from them twice over the years and have had no problems fortunately.
