Sofology!!!!

Has anyone else had a nightmare with sofology and got any meaningful resolution from then?
Short story our sofas were delayed, then we had 2 failed deliveries that we were waiting for even though they were never sent to the delivery depot, but still sent a text confirming delivery for the next day
Then when they did arrive they weren't the new sofas we ordered, they were someone else's returns, which were both broken, and had stickers on saying they had been returned
Now they have ordered us 2 new sofas that won't be here for 12 weeks!!!!
Best they could offer us was 5% discount
Also the option to walk away but there aren't any other sofas we like out there!!!

A lot of furniture shops are struggling because stocks are low; lockdowns affected most raw materials globally to varying degrees (wood, leather, fabric), as well as increased demand post lockdowns and shipping blockages worldwide. So delays are going to happen. The shop not knowing about it and unable to help sounds fairly shit.

I didn't think much of their quality. We've had sofas from Furniture Village and a small boutique place Loungin; the custom one is 12 years old and still great. It might work to go in and discuss availability before looking at styles. I sympathise though, we had to wait months for the Furniture Village one (way before covid times) but didn't like anything else. Low backs were in style at the time, very uncomfy and not suitable for us.

As for changing sofas every 2 years - !?!?!?! You should be ashamed of yourself @TotallySuper; it's better for you to spend money on an interior designer to help rather than making bad environmental choices constantly like that.

Ashamed of myself?! Pipe down. You should be ashamed of yourself for being so damn rude.

I chose new sofas from Sofology, but checked reviews before I clicked to buy. I'm so glad I did. Terrible reviews. I went to a local store where there was a sale and everything in the sale was in stock. I'd advise only buying items they already have in the warehouse at the moment, or you could be waiting for months.

@MRex

Great comeback *@TotallyShit*. About as well thought through as your average sofa purchase.
Have a great day miserable sweetie. Thanks for your addition to the thread its been greatly received.

@TotallySuper

Really??? Well that's news to me. I'd still stick with dfs they've always been brilliant. These sofa companies that don't have shops are always a risk IMO. For context we get new sofas every 2 years max we like to change them regularly and have always used DFS for 18 years.
You mean 12 years, surely…!!!
RubyTuesday70 · 16/11/2021 13:12

Sofology, DFS and many others use serpentine (or zigzag) springs. They cost literally pennies to buy in, and they are clipped to the frames. Over time and with use, these springs will wear, the frame gets bowed from the tension it's under, and if you get 4/5 years out of them before they break, you've done very very well.

You couldn't make more crappy furniture if you tried. Seriously.

@PermanentlyTired03

I ordered a sofa in September and it won't be here until January! It's from sofology- I found their sofas the comfiest- I need a firmer sofa that's not enormous. Bit scared now after reading this post!Shock
My Sofology sofas are 4 years old and still look pretty new tbh. They’ve been great. Everyone has different experiences. We had a positive one with no issues.
BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 16/11/2021 13:28

@ArseInTheCoOpWindow

I’d say 2 years is about how long a DFS sofa will last!

I’d rather spend that six years if that money and buy something that lasts.

Not that I'd advocate 2 year sofa replacement, but our dfs sofa is still going strong after a decade of heavy kid use.

Every 2 years max is truly bonkers.

Mercurial123 · 16/11/2021 13:40

I'm guessing it's not just a sofa every two years. It's probably a new armchair, rug etc. It's madness. Why not keep your furniture for a lot longer and with the money saved give it to charity?

MrsFin · 16/11/2021 13:45

we get new sofas every 2 years max

No wonder we have a flipping climate crisis!

FlappyFish · 16/11/2021 13:49

A lot of us who have experienced issues with Sofology are in a group called Angry Sofology Customers on FB.

TheFairyCaravan · 16/11/2021 13:54

Why the fuck would you buy a new sofa every two years? Just buy a neutral coloured one and change your decor if you get bored. How bloody wasteful.

SussexBonfireViking · 16/11/2021 14:00

we have 18? 19? year old DFS Italian Leather sofas from DFS, still going strong ( and bit tatty where the cats have sharpened their claws) and 14 year old Futon sofa also still good.

(still cant fathom new sofas every 2 years, what a waste)

MotherofTerriers · 16/11/2021 14:01

My sofology sofas still look great after 3 years
I think they do vary, some are made in the UK and some imported

Excited101 · 16/11/2021 14:08

New sofa every 2 years is even more ridiculous than the mumsnet chicken! Are people really that ignorant?!

Blueuggboots · 16/11/2021 14:29

We got ours from furniture village. It's 5 years old and still looks great! They were very expensive though.

JadeSeahorse · 16/11/2021 14:32

TBH we bought 2 new leather sofas from Sofology earlier this year replacing the 2 we had had from CSL - I understand that was Sofology’s name prior to the change - which had been great and given us 9 years healthy service.

The sofas arrived exactly as discussed so no issue there. However, they arrived without the sliders we had paid an extra £30 to have and no leather conditioning kit which had also cost an extra £40. The delivery men were great and said they had some spares in the van we could have until ours arrived which should be a few days later. They gave us 8 loose sliders - which have proved to be rubbish - and a very battered leather conditioning kit. Didn’t complain as we were assured these were only temporary. Guess what? 6 months later still no new sliders or conditioning kit. Can’t be bothered arguing with them or sitting on the phone for hours. The sliders you can buy for £2.99 a pack on eBay and the leather kit we have - albeit in a very battered box - seems to be pretty much complete.

Suffice to say they probably won’t get our business next time but, if they do, we certainly won’t be buying the “Extras”. 😡

YANBU

Ordered leather sofas from sofology in July 2020. Arrived damaged end of October 2020.

Sofology reordered our sofas and they arrived in March again even more damaged than the original sofas. Even worse was that the foul mouthed delivery guys threw a strop over having to take away the original sofas.

Sofology offered a 20% discount to keep them but I refused

Sofology reordered my sofas. Then my order went “missing”.

So the third order of leather sofas that were re ordered in March are finally being delivered next week.

I hold no hope. Extremely annoying as I love the style and colour. If they arrive slightly less damaged this time round I’ll offer to keep them but ask for the discount.

Otherwise they will have to refund me and collect the sofas - which I’d doubt they’d do seeing as I’m quite rural and arranging the delivery has been a nightmare.

Tal45 · 16/11/2021 14:37

Wow new sofa every two years?? I really hope you don't just dump them. Ours is Thomas Lloyd and we've had it 18 years so far.

Quornflakegirl · 16/11/2021 14:51

Our DFS sofas are almost 12 years old and have been through toddler and school aged twins. They last well and the two occasions we called them for a repair they did so without hesitation. We ordered a new sofa from them again in September as we were happy with our last one. They’ll be delivered on a couple weeks and we plan to keep them more than two years Grin

Alexalee · 16/11/2021 14:57

@Freehugs your sofas weren't torrington we're they?

Some of you lot with your decade-old sofas... amateurs Grin one of my sofas is 140 years old

Autumnscene · 16/11/2021 15:22

Just don’t get one from SCS.. complete nightmare and that was before pandemic. But when it finally came right 6 months later it was a good sofa. I have one from Wayfair and i absolutely love it !

Sorry but sofology problems don’t surprise me.

DevilWaresPrada · 16/11/2021 15:26
