Sofology!!!!

Has anyone else had a nightmare with sofology and got any meaningful resolution from then?
Short story our sofas were delayed, then we had 2 failed deliveries that we were waiting for even though they were never sent to the delivery depot, but still sent a text confirming delivery for the next day
Then when they did arrive they weren't the new sofas we ordered, they were someone else's returns, which were both broken, and had stickers on saying they had been returned
Now they have ordered us 2 new sofas that won't be here for 12 weeks!!!!
Best they could offer us was 5% discount
Also the option to walk away but there aren't any other sofas we like out there!!!

freehugs citizens advice is really good. I had to go through them in the end to sort my Sofa problem with SCS.

Freehugs · 16/11/2021 15:29

Nope Dundee

Nandiniti · 16/11/2021 15:36

Oh Lord, I hope we don't have any trouble with them taking the giant loan sofa away when they eventually deliver our armchairs. But I don't hold out much hope, the guys who delivered the loan sofa were pretty rude and angry too. Tried chatting a bit, nothing!

Conversely the beautiful plum sofa we ordered from... ... completely forgotten, was on time, lovely and delivered with care by very friendly chaps.

Trying to remember how old our last corner sofa was. Turn of the last century I think.

1forAll74 · 16/11/2021 15:37

Good grief, a new sofa every two years, Now i feel like a cheapskate, as got mine 16 years ago, from Homebase.. I give it a clean up every now and again, as its a fabric one,, and my three cats like it, so all is ok.

lndnbrdge91 · 16/11/2021 15:38

A lot of these larger companies get stock from China, so delays happen all the time and add that to the fact stocks goes to huge warehouses where it then invariably gets lost even before they get it in the delivery van. I know because I worked for one of the big ones that went bust Confused

As others have said it is best to order from sale stock, or something they buy in bulk and is fairly generic. If budget allows look at a smaller Uk based company who can honour their promises with shorter supply chains.

It's a shame because sales and service in stores are often let down by the processes/delivery side of things and the complaints
Departments are really over worked.

lndnbrdge91 · 16/11/2021 15:38

In summary if possible I would walk away. The 12 weeks quoted can easily become another 12 weeks and so on

crumpet · 16/11/2021 15:39

I am still reeling from new sofas every 2 years!

MeetMeAtOurSpot · 16/11/2021 15:43

No planet killing here Hmm

Well, ‘ignorance is bliss’ as they say

NotMyselfWithoutCoffee · 16/11/2021 15:45

We had a nightmare with sofology a couple years ago.
Paid for a sofa and were told it breaks down further and would fit in our house by the sales person. When it came to delivery it wouldn't fit in our hallway and couldn't get it through the door. It did not break down as he had said.

We were annoyed as we had asked pointed questions and made sure it was right for us specifically because of this. Were told we still had to pay for the sofa due to their policy and went down to the shop. Spoke on the phone with their management in the store for ages saying we were miss sold and were eventually able to swap our deal for a different sofa that worked for us.
Still livid as it caused us a lot of stress, just because some salesperson wanted to make a quick buck.

@Autumnscene

Just don’t get one from SCS.. complete nightmare and that was before pandemic. But when it finally came right 6 months later it was a good sofa. I have one from Wayfair and i absolutely love it !

Sorry but sofology problems don’t surprise me.

Oh shit don't say that! That's where I've ordered mine from. They've told me the end of January for delivery I hope it's not any longer than that because my old settee won't fit through the porch door so I'm down to one chair until the new settees arrive
ittakes2 · 16/11/2021 15:59

By contrast we had our dfs sofa for 18 years!

Pinkfairylights · 16/11/2021 16:13

I've got one of their sofas and wouldn't use them again.

I was having a nightmare with delivery, which was miraculously resolved when I put a shitty review on Trustpilot

ancientgran · 16/11/2021 16:15

@TotallySuper

If there's nothing else you like then you'll just have to suck it up. This is why I only deal with DFS they just cannot go wrong. All these other companies are useless and often go bust, I hope you paid on your credit card. Good luck OP.
Not my experience. I'd never go to DFS again.
Cheeseplantboots · 16/11/2021 16:27

We bought our first sofa from DFs (same company) 25 years ago and it’s so comfortable. We still have it in the toy room. About 5 years ago we bought another sofa from there and it’s awful. It wasn’t cheap, over 3k and it’s the worst sofa ever. You constantly fall down the middle of the cushions and the arms have collapsed. I wouldn’t touch DFS or sofology ever again.

PermanentlyTired03 · 16/11/2021 20:44

@Sprostongreen21 I'm hoping we have no problems. We were told it was a long lead time due to covid and brexit export probs. My current sofas are Ercol, only 4 yrs old and totally collapsed, they replaced the cushions but the frame seems knackered. Very annoyed as they weren't cheap. Whenever you buy something bigger- whether it's a sofa or a kitchen there will always be a problem somewhere!

TotallySuper · 16/11/2021 21:02

Again, I'll assume that you also put nothing in landfill, don't consume any fossil fuels, never use your heating etc as that's planet killing too. At least what I buy and then donate gets reused many times over but hey ho!
missymayhemsmum · 16/11/2021 21:19

Sofa Sofa are lovely, highly recommended

Jmaho · 16/11/2021 21:42

@ISpyCobraKai

People who buy new sofas every two years are great when you want a bargain, barely used, second hand sofa!
I was going to say this myself! We recently bought what we thought would be a cheap make do sofa off marketplace as our dog is still little and got young kids. Well our cheap buy is an Italian leather (sofology as it goes) beautiful 3 seater sofa with power recliners and it is immaculate. The best thing we've ever bought. It's still on the Sofology website for almost 2 grand. We paid £190! The couple we bought it off said they change their sofas every few years as they get bored. It's bonkers!! Our other sofa is 16 or 17 years old and we did pay about £1200 for it at the time which was a lot then but we still have it!
Smokeahontas · 16/11/2021 21:48

I got mine from Harvey’s, if you remember them? They’re now out of business, but my sofa is as comfortable as the day I got it. I didn’t add any stain protection or that thing, but the fabric is impossible to stain if you attend to spills immediately. Some of the best money I’ve spent.

Charliebong · 16/11/2021 21:59

My SCS sofas are ace, really well made, comfortable and arrived without any drama...good luck , it's not all doom and gloom.

Annamariefl · 16/11/2021 22:00

Can’t comment on Sofology but wanted to praise Next. Our new one is from there - delivered on time, very impressed with quality (last one was from made.com, the Next one is better). Also, I didn’t know that Next sofas are made in the UK, another bonus for me. Parents have ordered from SCS; supposed to be ready 20 October but still no sign of it.

Charliebong · 16/11/2021 22:01

I concur. Excellent service, great product and truly lovely delivery men! Can’t recommend sofa sofa highly enough! They had a 25% sale last Jan which made our sofas ludicrously good value!
MsAdoraBelleDearheartVonLipwig · 16/11/2021 22:19

We had two sofas from AHF, now Fabb or something, twenty years ago. About £600 each. Sitting on one of them now. Still as comfy and in as good a shape as ever. Bought a Chesterfield type leather sofa from DFS ten years ago and that’s still going strong too. Might get the other two recovered at some point to bring them a bit up to date.

Am coveting this enormous green velvet sofa from Snape Maltings though.

Sofology!!!!

Try Sofa Sofa, we’ve had ours years and they are fantastic value for money. Very solid, hardwearing etc. Customer service was absolutely fantastic.
