Farting or blow off ?

Cheekytea · 14/11/2021 19:20

Help settle a argument for me

My two and half year old finds it very funny she farts she smiles and giggles and tells everyone she farted,
Hubby not so impressed I taught her to saying farting and thinks the respectful term to teach her is " blow off " or other phrases so I'm asking you all what do you call farting in your household ? And what do they say in school etc

Thanks

I don't like the word fart/farting for a two year old but find the term blow off strange. My DC are a similar age and use the word pump/pumping.

dementedpixie · 14/11/2021 19:23

Pump/pumped
As in 'did you just pump?'
'Who pumped?'

Poppets14 · 14/11/2021 19:24

Fart is such a horrible word

We say fluffing or bum puffs

Bettybantz · 14/11/2021 19:25

Trump is more polite for a toddler. I hate the term blow off, it’s just odd.

donkey86 · 14/11/2021 19:25

My four year old DD says ‘bottom burp’. Blow off seems oddly vulgar to me, though I don’t know why.

BabyofMine · 14/11/2021 19:25

Blow off makes me think of fellatio.
I say fart.
Pump makes me squeamish with embarrassment, no idea why.

Bettybantz · 14/11/2021 19:26

Bum puffs?!

GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 14/11/2021 19:26

OMG is this thread for real?

Poppets14 · 14/11/2021 19:26

Yep bum puffs 😂

Choccyhobnob · 14/11/2021 19:26

Blow offs when we were kids but we always say trump with our son (although at 6 he now just says fart....) at nursery they said pop off which was sweet!

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 14/11/2021 19:27

We say fart. Always have. My great nan said pump

Starcaller · 14/11/2021 19:27

God I hate all the twee and cutesy words. It's a fart.

BrilliantBetty · 14/11/2021 19:27

Pop

PocahontasMcGinty · 14/11/2021 19:27

Pump/pumping/pumped means the same as shag/shagging/shagged in Glasgow.

Fart is fine

Mumoblue · 14/11/2021 19:28

When I worked as a childminder’s assistant she made us say “windypops”.
I’m not against the word “fart”, but I’ll use lots of different words for it with my son, just for a laugh.
Recently when he farts I’ll look surprised and go “was that your tooty-booty?” - it makes him laugh.

Fooshufflewickjbannanapants · 14/11/2021 19:28

Trump here, no farts in my hearing until at secondary 😂

Choccyhobnob · 14/11/2021 19:28

@BabyofMine

Blow off makes me think of fellatio. I say fart. Pump makes me squeamish with embarrassment, no idea why.
Pump makes me feel really weird too 😂
TaraLewis · 14/11/2021 19:29

It's a fart Confused I don't get all the twee words for something that has a proper name... pump, fluff and bum puff are weird

Ponoka7 · 14/11/2021 19:29

Trump is our go to.

Clymene · 14/11/2021 19:29

Just say fart Confused

Octopus37 · 14/11/2021 19:29

I know somebody who used to call them popsies, couldn't cope with that. Its fart in our house, cannot remember what it was when the boys were younger. If you don't like fart, maybe go for trump or boff.

PraiseBee · 14/11/2021 19:30

@Poppets14

Whaaat
JurassicShay · 14/11/2021 19:30

Your right it's fart, there's no need for any other weird term.

GADDay · 14/11/2021 19:31

THIS ⬆️⬆️⬆️

Palavah · 14/11/2021 19:31

Why on earth is trump or pump or blow off better than fart?

Agree blow off brings to mind fellatio. Pump is slang for intercourse.

Why are you discussing it so much anyway?
