Farting or blow off ?

Cheekytea · 14/11/2021 19:20

Help settle a argument for me

My two and half year old finds it very funny she farts she smiles and giggles and tells everyone she farted,
Hubby not so impressed I taught her to saying farting and thinks the respectful term to teach her is " blow off " or other phrases so I'm asking you all what do you call farting in your household ? And what do they say in school etc

Thanks

And I fall in to hating all made up names for it just sounds so weird
I think word fart just standard name for it
I don't know why he says blow off but he mum and that does so must come from them 😂
Thanks tho I'm loving the ideas and other names but I think I stick to the word fart

Pop makes me think of my mother who made us use that expression until I was in my late teens. She has since joined the vulgar brigade and we use fart with gay abandon now (DH took the piss mercilessly when he heard her trying to make DS say pop). I've always found pump a bit nasty, don't know why really.

PiesNotGuys · 14/11/2021 19:31

Blow off makes me think of blow jobs too.

Never heard anyone say blow off and I’m glad as it all sounds prissy/cringey to my ears.
Pumps are shoes at school so that would create much hilarity. Puff is a magic dragon. Trump was the president.

Fart is pretty much universally recognised although I too was brought up not to say it, the rule was forgotten after a few years and my kids all say fart.

HikingforScenery · 14/11/2021 19:31

Trump

Poppets14 · 14/11/2021 19:32

To be fair my daughter and husband say fluff

I’m the one that says bum puff - it makes my daughter laugh

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 14/11/2021 19:32

I'd laugh out loud if I heard people describing a fart as half of these names. I'd think you were taking the piss! A fluff!?!

ChristmasCrafter · 14/11/2021 19:33

We say Kablamo! after seeing it in a Simpsons episode 😂

Boombastic22 · 14/11/2021 19:33

Blow off is surely a reference to blow job Shock

Windypops, bottom burp or bottom bubble in our house - far more appropriate for children

Bloodypunkrockers · 14/11/2021 19:34

It's a fart

Can't stand all those twee, cringey expressions. I would include hubby in that too

girlmom21 · 14/11/2021 19:34

We just say "pardon my bottom" with our little one. It's never needed an actual name yet.

Northernsoullover · 14/11/2021 19:34

I really do think we should bring back the good old fashioned ' guff'

SalsaLove · 14/11/2021 19:34

“When the Earl of Oxford made a low obeisance to the Queen (Elizabeth I), he happened to let go a fart, at which he was so ashamed that he left the country for 7 years. At his return the Queen welcomed him and said, “My lord, I had forgot the fart”!”

Hotpinkangel19 · 14/11/2021 19:35

Pump or trump.

Iloveallofthem · 14/11/2021 19:35

Fart is horrendous.

Absolutely awful.

HoseMeDownWithHolyWater · 14/11/2021 19:35

All of these are cringeworthy.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 14/11/2021 19:36

I hate pump

Bottom burp after Purple Ronnie.

Or fart.

Or breaking wind.

80Dodgeballs · 14/11/2021 19:36

Yes, for a two year old, fart sounds a bit crude.

When mine were that age, we called it a windypop.

Now they're tweens, we say fart.

Iloveallofthem · 14/11/2021 19:36

I was brought up to not say it and it makes me cringe when I hear people say it, especially children.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 14/11/2021 19:36

@Iloveallofthem

Fart is horrendous.

Absolutely awful.

🤣
Sosigsandwich · 14/11/2021 19:36

Fart is horrible and crass

CreamFirstThenJamOnTop · 14/11/2021 19:37

We say trump or fart 💨

Riskyrice · 14/11/2021 19:37

@Northernsoullover

I really do think we should bring back the good old fashioned ' guff'
Guff is a majestic word.

I favour 'air biscuit' as in 'sorry, I just floated an air biscuit'

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 14/11/2021 19:37

I don’t have an objection to the word fart. It’s not great but not as bad as some are making it out to be.

We call it parping in our house. Not really sure how that started but it’s more a reference to the noise because we call blowing raspberries on someone parping too.

MaxNormal · 14/11/2021 19:38

@SalsaLove I am howling at that.

80Dodgeballs · 14/11/2021 19:38

As kids, we had to call them blow offs.
