Farting or blow off ?

Help settle a argument for me

My two and half year old finds it very funny she farts she smiles and giggles and tells everyone she farted,
Hubby not so impressed I taught her to saying farting and thinks the respectful term to teach her is " blow off " or other phrases so I'm asking you all what do you call farting in your household ? And what do they say in school etc

Thanks

I say trump to my almost two year old. Fart isn’t a word I want him using yet!

FindingMeno · 14/11/2021 19:39

I don't like the word fart used by little ones.
After all, fart isn't the correct word, so a better word could be pop.

LilyTheSavage · 14/11/2021 19:39

Another one who uses guffy. As in "we guffy boys daddy."

BigYellowHat · 14/11/2021 19:40

Fart/trumped 🤷‍♀️

Speckledhem · 14/11/2021 19:40

Definitely a fart from me

80Dodgeballs · 14/11/2021 19:41

My daughter suggested 'gas and air' Grin

tealandteal · 14/11/2021 19:42

My little boy calls it “letting your stinks out” or just “a stink” not sure where he got this from.

littlebigtiger · 14/11/2021 19:42

FFS there are some absolute fannies on this thread making up twee wankery.

It's a fart!

22Giraffes · 14/11/2021 19:42

It's a fart. The rest are twee and cringeworthy, especially pump which is also a shag.

SalsaLove · 14/11/2021 19:42

😂 I dont know if it’s true but it’s a great story.

If it's good enough for the NHS it's good enough for a child in my opinion.

RobertaFirmino · 14/11/2021 19:43

Trump, definitely. After all, it is so descriptive. I used to love hearing my friends two lads in pleats of laughter on hearing the words 'President Trump' Grin

I also know someone who has taught her DD to call it a 'Donald'.

Your example makes absolutely no sense. When you say "as in" it's supposed to help others understand what you mean.
MaxNormal · 14/11/2021 19:44

Surely the done thing is to teach them the medically correct word flatulate?

Trumping
I don't like young kids saying fart

warmeduppizza · 14/11/2021 19:46

Doesn’t anyone pass wind anymore?

Whereismumhiding3 · 14/11/2021 19:46

My DCs always said pop pops when little and "i just popped" and I'd ask "did you just do pop pops? Ooooh pardon you!"

They'd sing the song "pardon me for being rude it was not me ''twas my food" as I must have accidentally taught them it one day Grin

When they got older it became fart or farted, as that was what their school friends said.

I'm with your DH that it's unusual for such young children to say the word farted but then it depends on your household and whether you use the word yourself as they'll copy. If you're ok with it, it's just a difference between you and DH.

All our words became family friendly with little ears around who repeated everything.... until they were older. At primary school KS2 onwards peers are more influential about words like fart, pop and bum. And again in secondary school when the cute words tend to be replaced....

Blueeyedgirl21 · 14/11/2021 19:47

Bum puff

If it is a quiet one Fizzle is thought to be an alteration of the Middle English fist ("flatus"), which in addition to providing us with the verb for breaking wind quietly, was also munificent enough to serve as the basis for a now-obsolete noun meaning "a silent fart" (feist).
So we say fizzle or noisy fizzle.

JurgensCakeBaby · 14/11/2021 19:50

We say Gary, nursery don't like this and say pop which I hate, we now ask if he has broken wind (to encourage him to say excuse me/pardon me)

user9764577436 · 14/11/2021 19:50

Oh good god. It is fart. Fucking weird people calling it something ‘cute’… farting in itself is not cute so just call it what it is.

JurgensCakeBaby · 14/11/2021 19:51

😂😂😂 I didn't mean Gary, I meant fart, even my autocorrect doesn't like it!!

MaxNormal · 14/11/2021 19:51

Teach her to say "I've dumped my guts".

That one at least won't get confused with blowjobs or shags.

LakieLady · 14/11/2021 19:51

Fart or guff.
