Cleaner stole clothes?

Got a new jacket that I left hanging on a chair (as far as I recall). New cleaner came, cleaned and tidied. Now I can’t find my jacket.

I’m reluctant to jump to conclusions but this is an item of clothing so not easily mislaid (like a piece of jewellery). I haven’t worn this jacket out yet. DP and I have both turned the house upside down but can’t find it. It’s a branded sports jacket (think Puma, Nike etc) so not particularly designer/valuable. I’ve considered texting the cleaner to ask if she’s seen it as well but I’d sound really stupid not knowing where stuff is in my own house!

AIBU to wonder whether she had something to do with it? Although it sounds like a strange thing to steak I see no other option. Nobody else has been in my house since.

Are you definitely sure you didn't wear it out and leave it behind somewhere? Only asking as I've done this more than once 😄

No one has actually noticed OP does have 2 version first it says it was brand new, never worn, and then she worn it last time when cleaner came. "No car. It’s new. I’ve only been out once since I last saw it and most definitely Wasn’t wearing it."

Just got it and wore indoors to me that makes it new

I know where it is! My nephew was visiting for a couple days.
He was ready to leave but could not find his car keys...we knew they weren't in the car because we'd heard the car beep when he'd locked it the night before. We looked EVERYWHERE! I stripped the bed, etc etc, etc.
(I'm a pro at searching because I'm constantly losing things,)
I said 'well let's ask St Antony where they are' so we did and about a minute later DN caught sight of a jacket he'd hung up on a hook behind the door.( hadn't realised he hadn't packed his jacket) He grabbed the it, stuck his hand in the pocket, and voilà there were his keys! If he'd not put the keys in that new jacket, he'd have left it here and never remembered where he'd left it...
So, your jacket is hanging on a hook behind a door....you won't have seen it because your door is open

There was a person on another thread recently who could "see" lost items and I kid you not she helped find something that was missing by the poster of the OP. Does anyone remember this?

I'm always losing things and forgetting where I left them. Invariably they turn up ....clothes hung over each other if I can't find a spare hanger, favourite lippy left in a bag I rarely use, top dropped onto floor of wardrobe behind shoe boxes. Also things I can't find but then remember I donated to charity in a Marie Kondo moment.....

In the OP's knocker drawer, iirc! Unlikely to be a good hiding place for a jacket.

If the jacket had tags, has OP looked for it on eBay, FB marketplace, etc?

Have you got a cat? Or foxes locally? Sounds ridiculous but once we had a fox try and steal our dog bed that was drying outside…it didn’t fit under their gap in the fence sadly for them……

Just say to the cleaner...'sorry, I forgot to say that we have security cameras in most rooms or our house, just checking that you are OK with that? It really helps when I misplace something as I can view my movements. Just going to check it now as I haven't seen my jacket for about a week.'
Then see how she reacts.

Under the cleaner’s coat!
She had apparently draped hers over mine and left taking both together. And hadn’t realised until now because she’d dumped this one in her car and had been using a different one.

So I was right, she had taken it. But not stolen. It’ll be back with me next week 😎
