My husband is off to NY for work for 4 weeks, and I thought that the least he could do was to bring back some things for me and the children (young) but I don’t know what! Please tell me what you’d like to get!
(The children have enough clothes, I really don’t think I should tell him to get those…though I really like Carter’s)

Thank you!

I'm a New Yorker. I'd ask him to pick you up something at Tiffany's. Smile

F.A.O Schwarz, an amazing toy store, is just a few blocks up 5th Avenue from Tiffany's.

NeedAHoliday2021 · 25/10/2021 20:52

But we have Tiffany’s in the UK Confused

Newforestdonkey · 25/10/2021 20:52

Oooh! That sounds interesting! (Though it’s sad that I’m more excited by the toy store than by the jeweller 😅)
Thank you!

My ex came back with huge bottles of paracetamol and ibuprofen. It was mega useful, though admittedly not very romantic.

Incidentally, both types of tablet did taste a good deal better than the Hershey’s chocolate he brought.

lljkk · 25/10/2021 20:53

Following another thread, huge bottles of acetominophen, aspirin & ibuprofen. Melantonin too if you'd like to give it a try.

lljkk · 25/10/2021 20:53

AnyOldPrion, Snap!

MissConductUS · 25/10/2021 20:59

The only American chocolate I'd bother to give someone overseas is Ghirardelli's. They're based in San Fransico but you can find their chocolates in most nicer supermarkets.

www.ghirardelli.com/

For the big bottles of OTC medications, direct him to Duane Reade or CVS. They're both all over Manhattan. The store brands are much cheaper and just as good as the name brands.

Newforestdonkey · 25/10/2021 21:03

Oh! I like non romantic, otc medication! Thanks, definitely on the list!

Mmm, I love chocolate but it’s got to be good, so I might pass that one.

Crest white strips
M&ms in better flavours than you get here (even our 'good' ones are not as nice!)
Anything from trader joes
Lululemon clothes probably cheaper than here
An american good housekeeping magazine
And for the kids id say some american magazines too! I would have loved that when I was young.

Ghirardelli is absolutely top quality. That said, taste in chocolate tends to be national, much like coffee. Ask him to bring you one bar of their dark chocolate and I suspect you'll wish he had brought more.

Twirlywhirly1 · 25/10/2021 21:08

A box of Lucky charms as a treat for your DC.
Definitely Crest White Strips!

Antibiotic cream - an absolute godsend. It's on my shopping list for when we go next summer.

Brogues · 25/10/2021 21:11

Get him to video call you from Sephora! CVS and Walgreens do budget nail Polish that you can’t get here.

I got an absolutely bargainous wool coat from Loft ie under £15 - I thought I was doing the conversion wrong when I saw the sign until one of the shop assistants went ‘get hold of your size now and make your decision when you are looking around the shop or it will be gone’.

Kate Spade near Trump Plaza (iirc) had NY specific designs on pouches and bags - really cute if that’s your style, a bit Lulu Guinness.

Wouldn’t bother with FAO S at all. I was very underwhelmed but did get to buy some regional Thomas the Tank Engines.

Essexgirlupnorth · 25/10/2021 21:11

Bath and body works toiletries for me. Though have found a dupe of my favourite scent in superdrug.

lljkk · 25/10/2021 21:12

I like to bring boxes of See's Candy back (posh chocolates).

Bananablossom · 25/10/2021 21:13

I have a snow globe from Bloomingdale's with the New York skyline in it and it plays "New York New York" when wound up (with a subway train turning around the bottom).

It's as tacky as it sounds but surprisingly good quality and I love it!!

Can't you get this in the UK? If not, I'm stunned.

By the way, it's usually sold as an ointment, like Polysporin.

Then I’ll have to ask directly for three
