My husband is off to NY for work for 4 weeks, and I thought that the least he could do was to bring back some things for me and the children (young) but I don’t know what! Please tell me what you’d like to get!
(The children have enough clothes, I really don’t think I should tell him to get those…though I really like Carter’s)

Thank you!

Carter’s, Old Navy and Little Miss Matched clothes for the kids. Bath & Bodyworks goodies for you!

Whatevernext1 · 25/10/2021 22:17

Top of my list is Secret gel deodorant in any fragrance - I never let my stash go below 6 now as I can't get on with anything else since using this.

I'm a weirdo that actually likes hershey's chocolate 🤣 I would be stocking up on the mint truffle kisses and the cherry kisses which are available this time of the year.

Bath and Bodyworks anything and everything 🤣 especially hand sanitiser and holders. I know you can buy online at Next now but there's nowhere near as much as you can get in the USA!

Tide stain remover pen - comes in so handy.

Chips ahoy cookies - the chunky ones in the brown packaging.

Peppermint bark - if you want a nice tin Williams and Sonoma normally do a nice one which I then keep and use for when I make it at home.

Turtles - either pecan or cashew are quite addictive!

Ruffles - cheddar or any really!

Frito twists in honey bbq flavour.

Sephora - rollerball perfumes which I find so handy for in my bag,I seem to hoard Dior ones!

Christmas decorations for the tree from Macy's,Bloomingdales etc.

Shopping bags - nice to have different ones when going to the supermarket!

I'm sure I will think of many more!

Whatevernext1 · 25/10/2021 22:18

Oh and Old Navy is a must for basics!

Whatevernext1 · 25/10/2021 22:19

Sorry me again!

Gold bond body powder

Gold bond lotion

Mommybunny · 25/10/2021 22:19

Oh god yes, Ruffles and Fritos! 😋

SurferRona · 25/10/2021 22:20

Fourth vote for crest whitening strips. Cant buy in EU. Get a couple of boxes, he can flatten them for packing space purposes if needed! Most expensive, the better, I’d also say go for the strongest you can too.

dreamingbohemian · 25/10/2021 22:22

For food I'd say BBQ sauces/spices and hot sauces, if you like spicy food. You never get the really great ones over here, the really smoky ones.

FlowerArranger · 25/10/2021 22:24

In what way is Nyquil different from Night Nurse?

georgarina · 25/10/2021 22:25

Good quality jeans are much cheaper over there so I would ask for a pair

FlowerArranger · 25/10/2021 22:26

And Advil is just expensive ibuprofen...

ohnana · 25/10/2021 22:26

You can now get over 200 Bath & body works pieces from next!

lmpeachment · 25/10/2021 22:27

@ChimChimeny

I was going to suggest melatonin too, I use it to get over jet lag.

I can't get my psoriasis shampoo over here, if you happen to have scalp psoriasis I'd recommend MG217 shampoo 🤣

You càn get Melatonin by post from the states too. Piping Rock is good
Mommybunny · 25/10/2021 22:29

@FlowerArranger

And Advil is just expensive ibuprofen...
Indeed, you don’t need Advil - generic ibuprofen will do - but it’s a lot easier to get in large, cheap quantities in US drugstores than the piddly blister packs you have to get in the U.K.
NeverTheHootenanny · 25/10/2021 22:29

Another vote for whitening toothpaste/strips.

FlowerArranger · 25/10/2021 22:30

And a Mucinex equivalent is available at Boots - same active ingredient.

Or use Lemsip.

Bananaman123 · 25/10/2021 22:31

Lots of bits from athletes and body works, senhora (holiday beauty an makeup collections), Tarte makeup, Coach handbags

Darceyhemingway · 25/10/2021 22:32

You can get crest white strips here ive ordered them online before. I'd deff be requesting some DF perfume!

MissConductUS · 25/10/2021 22:32

@Cadent

Nothing for me.

Went to NYC, underwhelmed.

Same with the west coast.

I won’t be going back.

I'm gutted, absolutely gutted. Wink
Mommybunny · 25/10/2021 22:34

I once bought Mucinex for my DCs, having heard my SIL rave about it, and they both promptly threw it up.

I haven’t missed NyQuil since I’ve lived abroad. It’s mostly the huge packs of OTC painkillers I miss.

ifoundthebread · 25/10/2021 22:34

Do you have a Pandora bracelet? If so get him to go to one of their stores as they sell charms only for NYC

MrsMariaReynolds · 25/10/2021 22:35

I buy all the OTC things you cannot get here, mahoosive bottles of paracetamol and ibuprofen, antibiotic creams, as well as things impossible to get without a prescription here--Aleve (naproxen), Allegra (fexofenadine) and a bottle of melatonin gummies.

A variety box of Sees Chocolates would also be heavenly...

Mommybunny · 25/10/2021 22:36

As a lifelong Yankees fan I’d have to get some Yankees clothes for DS, and probably some Knicks and Rangers and Jets too.

Davros · 25/10/2021 22:36

Anything from Henri Bendell

FlowerArranger · 25/10/2021 22:37

The large OTC packs can, in the wrong hands, encourage indiscriminate use of these medications. In the US, there is a huge variety of OTC drugs that include acetominophen (aka paracetamol) plus other ingredients, such as sleep aids and migraine drugs. A lot of people are not aware of this and risk ingesting excessive doses of acetominophen. The reason why these medications are only sold in small quantities in the UK is to prevent accidental or intentional overdoses.

Mommybunny · 25/10/2021 22:42

Thanks @FlowerArranger but I understand the risks and prefer to buy a single large bottle once every year or so rather than a blister pack every single time I go near a Boots.
