“They made love all night then fell asleep in each other’s arms,” AIBU to wonder if there really are couples who do these things outside of romance novels?

Sometimes I read this kind of thing and then I wonder wtf they came up with that imagery. And then I wonder whether I’m the only one who wouldn’t even entertain the idea of falling asleep in someone’s arms after making love all night…

Or is it just me? Grin

@Kanaloa

I just don’t understand how you make love all night then fall asleep. I mean are you falling asleep in the morning?
Yes hopefully a sunday morning or another day when you're both off :)
YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 19/10/2021 20:27

The second bit, absolutely not. That’s your side - get over there. And I’ll just put this pillow here to reinforce my point

😂😂 absolutely (and I cannot stand sweaty, hairy arms cuddling me ever!) As for breathing in my face.....😡

beigebrownblue · 19/10/2021 20:29

Think it's that thing in fiction or film generally.

No one ever goes to the loo in a film or a book.

No one ever has a humourous moment during or after sex in books or films either.

Whereas in real life, thank goodness we do!

MintyGreenDream · 19/10/2021 20:31

I'm a get the fuck off me and sleep on your own side type of woman

Iamacatslave · 19/10/2021 20:32

@HangOnToYourself

love it.

MintyGreenDream · 19/10/2021 20:34

@Clocktopus 🤣🤣

tailspin21 · 19/10/2021 20:34

Oh this takes me back to my late teens! Both worked on the same farm, and would regularly stumble from pub arm in arm, make it as far as the field we'd left respective tractors in and stay there until morning! I feel really old now...

KaptainKaveman · 19/10/2021 20:35

Me too @MintyGreenDream. Spare room even better!

Wrenna · 19/10/2021 20:43

We’ve been married 20+ years and before marriage we used to do this. After marriage dh has acquired this death grip kind of thing. He’s totally asleep but clenches his hands in his sleep. Hard. After a few really scary WTF moments which included my bruising on several parts of my body, there is absolutely, positively no way I will sleep right next to dh! It really sucks because I’d love to at least cuddle sometimes but if I fall asleep I’m taking the chance his death grip will get me. I’m sure its stress and he’s always totally asleep but it’s hard not to be resentful when it does happen!

Cuddlyrottweiler · 19/10/2021 20:48

The first time DH and I had sex it went on for hours with multiple orgasms, we literally collapsed into eachother and fell asleep. Then woke up panicking because I still lived with my mum and was very late home. It isn't still like that 😂

SweeneyToddler · 19/10/2021 20:50

No saddle?

Snort

unluckyinlife · 19/10/2021 20:52

Married 3 years, been together 5 years. 2 children and still have nights like this Grin

Coronawireless · 19/10/2021 20:54

@HangOnToYourself

Quick fumble, waddle to the bathroom to clean up then unpause Netflix for a bit. Then earplugs in and turn over and fart on partner all night is it not? 🤷‍♀️
Grin
DigOlBick · 19/10/2021 20:54

I fall asleep on his chest every night. Then I slide off it about half an hour later because I’m a big pregnant rhino and I drool like a bloodhound.
He still loves me though.

ErickBroch · 19/10/2021 21:00

Yes, together 5 years, but no kids Grin which I am sure explains why!!!

SmellyOldOwls · 19/10/2021 21:05

Nope. Make love for 30-60 minutes then back to my own bedroom so that I can feed the baby when she wakes up.

ZednotZee · 19/10/2021 21:09

Pre covid when the DC used to stay at grandparents' houses a couple of nights a week this was a regular occurrence.

Since March 2020 we have perfected the art of five minute, silent quickies with Netflix playing loudly in the background.

furbabymama87 · 19/10/2021 21:14

Make love, fall asleep in his arms then wake half an hour later with pins and needles and stretch out. I've had sex all night before but that was pre kids.

diamondpony80 · 19/10/2021 21:15

All night? No way. And while I enjoy a cuddle afterwards, I can't sleep with someone touching me. I get my best sleep if I have my back to him. I need my space!

JudgeJ · 19/10/2021 21:20

@TracyLords

Hahahahah... after almost 20 years, it’s a quick shag, clean up, and then pjs on and asleep opposite sides of the bed. Still love DH mind, and wouldn’t change him For the worls
Opposite sides to miss the damp patches if my memory serves me well!
santabetterwashhishands · 19/10/2021 21:22

Nope afterwards it's usually love you ,kiss ,cuddle then after a minute I'm complaining he's too hot or he's pinched the duvet 🤷‍♀️

@thecatsmum12346

She was already pretending to be asleep when he sloped into the bedroom. She heard him putting up the loo seat (which would remain up, forever) and calculated that there would be enough time to squeeze out a huge fart and waft it out of the bed before her joined them. ‘Them’ being the family dog and cat who cuddled into mummy and enjoyed her various tummy rumblings and nightmarish wailings in the wee small hours. He, unashamedly pissed like a race horse, took ages farting around doing other stuff, turned lights on and off by mistake and did a long mighty wind break that sounded like a huge trumpet! He got into bed and stared at his phone while she continued to ‘sleep’.
Is this the next Bridget Jones book??
pcofmushu · 19/10/2021 21:25

Maybe not "all night" (he wishes 😂) but me and my partner certainly do. Have been together 3 years.

WellLarDeDar · 19/10/2021 21:27

We don't go all night anymore! It's been 10 years, but we still fall asleep 'in each others arms' afterwards but they sounds so cringey when you phrase it like that. Also insert a few minutes to clean up using wipes or a quick nip to the bathroom. I can't have sex with a full bladder so can rarely per afterwards but I have meds that I'm always on to stop me getting water infections so I feel very lucky in that respect!
