“They made love all night then fell asleep in each other’s arms,” AIBU to wonder if there really are couples who do these things outside of romance novels?

Sometimes I read this kind of thing and then I wonder wtf they came up with that imagery. And then I wonder whether I’m the only one who wouldn’t even entertain the idea of falling asleep in someone’s arms after making love all night…

Or is it just me? Grin

I wonder this too. In my life it would go ...she took a cup of tea to bed and when her love came to bed he fell asleep immediately and had to be nudged when he started snoring... Who says romance is dead!

Stitchybitch79 · 19/10/2021 18:14

I do
But we've only been together 18 months

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 19/10/2021 18:15

All night?

Don’t they have work in the morning?

Shoxfordian · 19/10/2021 18:16

We don’t even fall asleep in the same bed

3WildOnes · 19/10/2021 18:16

In the early days of my relationships then yes. Not now that I am married with three children.

Tal45 · 19/10/2021 18:17

An hour is enough to be honest. And I can't stand anyone touching me when I sleep, it's just uncomfortable.

WitchyNameChange · 19/10/2021 18:17

Definitely did this at the beginning of my relationships.

GoodnightGrandma · 19/10/2021 18:17

I’d be very chafed if I made love all night !
And I can’t stand being touched when I’m going to sleep.

SweeneyToddler · 19/10/2021 18:18

Oh I love sleeping wrapped around DH. It’s weird because I hated sharing a bed with precious partners.

I don’t know if it’s because we’re madly in love or just a sign of ageing- I have a dodgy shoulder so sleeping with my arm across his chest helps the pain.
And he snores so if he spoons me on his side, he won’t roll into his back and do a steam engine impression.

It’s all very romantic.

CoalCraft · 19/10/2021 18:18

We do the making love then falling asleep thing but it's 15 mins (at best), not all night, and there's some washing in between.

I honestly wouldn't want to go all night. Surely you must lose interest (and lubrication) after the first hour??

mrsdootfear · 19/10/2021 18:18

In the early days of every relationship I've had it's been like that. But doesn't continue throughout the full relationship.

SweeneyToddler · 19/10/2021 18:18

Oh, and “making love all night long” just sounds like a one-way ticket to cystitisville.

ChubbyK · 19/10/2021 18:19

I start getting fed up after 40 minutes.
Whataday21 · 19/10/2021 18:21

Definitely in my younger years, and definitely not now. And it was shagging, not making love 😂

BobbinThreadbare123 · 19/10/2021 18:23

Nope! You'd have to get up for a wee anyway. Grin

longwayoff · 19/10/2021 18:23

The phrase 'to make love' has altered its meaning over the years. Originally it referred to 'courting', maybe a little smooching, a kiss or two perhaps. Not shagging each other senseless for 12 hours at a stretch which, as I recall, is a privilege of youth alone.

Bumblenums1234 · 19/10/2021 18:23

More like 'they made love for 5 minutes then she rolled over and started browsing TikTok'

takingmytimeonmyride · 19/10/2021 18:24

Sex all night? No.

But I love falling asleep cuddled up to my DP. Sometimes. We've been together just over 18 months so I still quite like him. Grin

TracyLords · 19/10/2021 18:24

Hahahahah... after almost 20 years, it’s a quick shag, clean up, and then pjs on and asleep opposite sides of the bed. Still love DH mind, and wouldn’t change him
For the worls

mbosnz · 19/10/2021 18:25

Not since I was twenty, and I was buggered if I was riding a bike home the next day. . .

ChaToilLeam · 19/10/2021 18:25

All night? Dear lord, I’d be sore for days. And I absolutely hate anyone touching me or cuddling me when I am asleep. Sore and sleepless - breakfast the next day would not be a happy affair.

jennythesquirrel · 19/10/2021 18:29

Yes it was like that every night and days too sometimes for the first 3 years...and then one of you remembers you've forgotten to put the bins out.

mbosnz · 19/10/2021 18:30

Just as you hear the rubbish truck coming down the road. And it's invariably raining.
HangOnToYourself · 19/10/2021 18:31

Quick fumble, waddle to the bathroom to clean up then unpause Netflix for a bit. Then earplugs in and turn over and fart on partner all night is it not? 🤷‍♀️

thecatsmum12346 · 19/10/2021 18:32

She was already pretending to be asleep when he sloped into the bedroom. She heard him putting up the loo seat (which would remain up, forever) and calculated that there would be enough time to squeeze out a huge fart and waft it out of the bed before her joined them. ‘Them’ being the family dog and cat who cuddled into mummy and enjoyed her various tummy rumblings and nightmarish wailings in the wee small hours. He, unashamedly pissed like a race horse, took ages farting around doing other stuff, turned lights on and off by mistake and did a long mighty wind break that sounded like a huge trumpet! He got into bed and stared at his phone while she continued to ‘sleep’.
