To think Strictly is just a bit....shit?!

I know the majority will disagree with me but .....

I never watch it, but tonight thought I’d put it on. Just watched the last 40 mins of it and am finding it one big cringe/ cheese/ bore fest.

I have no idea who any of the ‘celebs’ are, I’ve thought all the dances have been a bit meh. The judges all seem to be clamouring over one another for attention.

I’m a big fan of dancing on ice and always watch that, but I guess I like that because of the danger element, just makes it a bit more exciting.

I’m just bored watching this and struggling with all the gushy cheesiness.

Am I the only one who doesn’t get the massive hype around it?

Agree. Cannot stick it

gardeninggirl68 · 16/10/2021 20:38

the dances are barely the dances they are supposed to be......moves and techniques are all watered down with ott showmanship, ridiculous themes and music which is way off

no idea who the celebrities are either

MaryShelley1818 · 16/10/2021 20:38

Strictly is FAB-U-LOUS

But YANBU to dislike it, each to their own. I do find they get far more well known celebs on than DOI though which really is scraping the barrel for TV.

Theunamedcat · 16/10/2021 20:39

Its not as good as it was I swear it used to be more about the dancing and now it's just not

SpangoDweller · 16/10/2021 20:41

I like it more if I’m a fan of a celeb dancing in it - no idea who most of them are this year, and I’m not keen on the ones I do know!

It’s good Saturday night background TV, but I wouldn’t make an effort to watch it.

Shitzngiggles · 16/10/2021 20:43

I agree with you. I can't put my finger on it but I find it incredibly weird and creepy. Just can't understand its popularity.

CiaoForDiNiaoSaur · 16/10/2021 20:45

I agree with this. I'm an ex dancer so I do know what the dance should look like. They are barely recognisable. Mind you it haven't watched it properly for a few years because there was too much talking and not enough dancing!
SmellyBumMum · 16/10/2021 20:47

Agree - it’s dreadful

Classica · 16/10/2021 20:47

I've voted YABU

Not for disliking Strictly, I'm not a fan either. But for saying 'Am I the only one who doesn’t get the massive hype around it?'. People saying 'am I the only person who doesn't like -insert name of something totally mainstream- is my pet peeve.

Loads of people hate Strictly. Just like loads of people hate Coldplay, or Ant and Dec, or tea, or football.

cushioncovers · 16/10/2021 20:48

Yes it's tacky cheesy shit imo

CurbsideProphet · 16/10/2021 20:49

Tbf isn't Dancing On Ice usually full of ex Coronation Street actors? You're never going to get top drawer celebrities on these programmes, you have to lower your expectations.

Haudyourwheesht · 16/10/2021 20:50

I don't mind the dancing but cba with the 'stories' of the celebs and their 'journies'.

SoniaFouler · 16/10/2021 20:53

Hasn’t strictly been on our screens for the last nine decades at least, or does it just feel that long? You are being kind of unreasonable to tune into a show being such a Johnny-come-lately and picking fault with it.

Caterinasballerinas · 16/10/2021 20:53

It’s just nice family entertainment. This year with Rose and John doing such a great job I have been really inspired thinking what their success must mean for deaf people and same sex couples, seeing themselves represented on mainstream TV.

RandomMess · 16/10/2021 20:53

Cannot bear it, down to death. Had they done it alternate years it would have survived much longer and still been fresh and good

I love dancing and haven't been able to watch it in about 8 years!

RockinHorseShit · 16/10/2021 20:54

YADNBU.it's pretty shite

Haudyourwheesht · 16/10/2021 20:55

But it's all shite. Unless you like Casualty (and I get why folk do) there is nothing remotely worth watching on a Saturday night at all.

DroopyClematis · 16/10/2021 20:56

It's shite. It's had it's day , surely?

Heruka · 16/10/2021 20:57

It’s terrible.

LagunaBubbles · 16/10/2021 21:02

I still love it, but we all like different things don't we? And its still popular.

MargaretFaffter · 16/10/2021 21:02

Yeah, of course, it’s shite, but it’s light, entertaining, brain-switched-off fodder for Saturday night. Personally I enjoy it.

Dancing on Ice is absolute trash.

GuyFawkesDay · 16/10/2021 21:05

It's cheesy but that's half of the appeal. I love watching with DD, a hot choc and popcorn. We mostly discuss the outfits as much as the dancing but it's good family friendly viewing

PuppyMonkey · 16/10/2021 21:05

I think it’s fine to not like it, but if you’re trying to say Dancing on Ice is better you are just… insane.

bowlingalleyblues · 16/10/2021 21:06

YABU to say you have no idea who any of the celebs are, it’s quite hard to never have seen or watched BBC breakfast or the Olympics, or Eastenders or Bake Off etc…none of them, really? And if you really haven’t then the show isn’t aimed at you.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 16/10/2021 21:07

There are lots of people who don't watch it. You're not the only one, did you seriously think you are?
