Invited to a wedding early December.

Requires an overnight stay as it's in the grooms home town.

I can't see it happening Covid wise.

Don't want to book a hotel or lose any money. But tempted to just say I'm going safe in the knowledge numbers would get cut / cancelled completely.

AIBU to think it won't go ahead?

I think it'll go ahead.

Thehop · 12/10/2021 20:58

What country?

CornishTiger · 12/10/2021 20:58

Isn’t there a premier inn or travel lodge you can get cheaply that’s refundable?

weddingguestdec · 12/10/2021 20:58

England

I'd be shocked if it didn't go ahead to be honest

ChatterMonkey · 12/10/2021 21:00

Is your post late by a year??

underneaththeash · 12/10/2021 21:00

Just book a hotel you can cancel.

HTH1 · 12/10/2021 21:00

I think it will go ahead. Maybe just book a room which is paid at the time and can be cancelled without charge if you’re unsure.

Yabu

Twickerhun · 12/10/2021 21:01

I’d expect the wedding to go ahead.

MichelleScarn · 12/10/2021 21:01

Is it you don't want to go?

TheDogsMother · 12/10/2021 21:02

Loads of hotels will allow cancellation up to a day before so you could choose one of those.

NotYourCupOfTea · 12/10/2021 21:02

Why wouldn’t it go ahead Hmm just book a room on. A flexi rate if you are worried

frogsbreath · 12/10/2021 21:03

Yabu to think it won't go ahead, there's not a whisper of a possibility of those kind of restrictions happening again.

You just don't want to go so say that.

Chickychoccyegg · 12/10/2021 21:03

Why would it not go ahead? There's no reason covid wise why a wedding in December will be cancelled. Book a hotel, if the wedding is off due to covid restrictions the hotel will refund.

Shelddd · 12/10/2021 21:03

I agree it likely will go ahead.

todaysdilemma · 12/10/2021 21:04

Huh? Loads of weddings have already gone ahead this year with larger groups. I've been to large gigs and festivals. It's 2021......

Not sure why you think it won't?

Lightswitch123 · 12/10/2021 21:05

Why won't it go ahead??

MrsMoastyToasty · 12/10/2021 21:06

Book a Premier Inn and use the flex booking option so you can cancel up to 1pm on the day you're due to check in.

TakeMe2Insanity · 12/10/2021 21:08

I think you’d be right if it was just about numbers, but theres such a desire to normalise it and make it endemic in society that a lockdown would set that policy back.

Cantstopthewaves · 12/10/2021 21:08

More chance of the happy couple splitting up before the happy day than Covid putting a stop to it.

moonshine3600 · 12/10/2021 21:09

It'll go ahead

WandaVision2 · 12/10/2021 21:10

Why won’t it go ahead? Do you know something we don’t?
