Invited to a wedding early December.

Requires an overnight stay as it's in the grooms home town.

I can't see it happening Covid wise.

Don't want to book a hotel or lose any money. But tempted to just say I'm going safe in the knowledge numbers would get cut / cancelled completely.

AIBU to think it won't go ahead?

@weddingguestdec I don't think you'll be the only one with concerns - and it's fine to have them given the situation, but just be straight up and honest with the couple that's all I would say.

weddingguestdec · 19/10/2021 17:14

Well I booked. Seems to have jinxed it as it's s going tits up now. Feel awful for the couple. Really can't see it going ahead now.

There's still no sign of further restrictions though, despite high numbers is there, unless I've missed a headline today?
I went to a gig with 1600 other people on Saturday night........stuff is happening.

weddingguestdec · 19/10/2021 17:19

@Alconleigh just scaremongering about new variants, plan b, NHS being overwhelmed, deaths are the highest for 7 months.

Planting the seeds for us to accept restrictions soon I imagine. Christ I hate this government.

Cases and deaths are higher but most people are vaccinated. I know loads of people who have had it recently / right now, including some who were considered clinically vulnerable in the first lockdowns, and they've all had cold / flu type symptoms and then recovered well. I can't see how that translates into more restrictions. Unless we really get eg a variant which is totally resistant to the vaccines.

You really do go to worst case scenario instantly dont you??

weddingguestdec · 19/10/2021 17:35

@ChatterMonkey I do yes. I should probably stop reading the news (and MN Covid section) it's seriously depressing

What's the consensus on this now?

I bought an outfit etc and booked the hotel. Hoping for the couple it is all OK!

Still fine! Unless it's in Morocco!
