It gets pretty depressing on here, shall we have a nice thread for the nice things we have done this week?

I went blackberry picking with the kids and got caught in the rain. We warmed up with hot chocolate and today I'm making an apple crumble and starting on the bags for trick or treaters. Autumn is here!

Good idea, after 1.5 years of epilepsy my 2 year old is 7 weeks seizure free. Isn't that lovely Bear

CleopatrasBeautifulNose · 02/10/2021 08:08

Yes please. 😊 I won a good quality bike at an unusually low price on ebay (got outbid on loads of others, think it was cos this one is a boring colour - grey, but we are more interested in the fact he'll be able to go mountain biking on it and it isn't breaking the bank) for my son who had outgrown his. We are collecting it on Sunday... It happens to be near my parents (who live miles away so we don't often see them) so we're combining it with a day visit to them for board games and a Sunday roast. Double win! 😍

Took my granddaughter to a birthday party. I have social anxiety so was dreading it and literally didn’t sleep the night before. I even tried to get out of it but went for her sake. Turned out to be a lovely 2 hours, everyone had lots of fun and I have some lovely photos to cherish as a result ❤️

It wasn’t this week, it was years ago, but someone reminded me of it this week… I was on a night out with my sister and some friends, it was the middle of winter and freezing. Our friends left early and we got chatting to a group of guys on a stag do, who asked us where else they should go. We suggested a place and they invited us along but then we got there, there was a huge queue and we were not dressed for standing outside for ages!
The ‘stag’ saw how cold I was, and while we waited to get in, hugged me from behind (with his arms around my shoulders) to keep me warm, and told me how he’d met his fiancé and how much he loved her and couldn’t wait to marry her.
He didn’t do anything other than help me stay warm, but I hope they are still married.

I cleared out my greenhouse for winter and started making plans for my little plot for next year. I have a special ring bound book from Paperchase for my planning, with lovely thick parchment pages🙂

I thought that was going to go in a different (less lovely) direction - that is very sweet! Hope they are very happy!

My DS got a school report this week. He’s not the brightest kid but the report was absolutely gushing about how hard he tries and how kind and helpful he is to other children…I couldn’t be more proud of him.

Wrongsideofhistorymyarse · 02/10/2021 08:30

My cat has been very ill and had stopped eating so I thought it was curtains for him.

The vet found some new medication and he's eating again and regaining his strength. He's not out of the woods yet but he's much more like his usual self.

Jerrysgonnabeacableboy · 02/10/2021 08:31

@FrankieDobie That made me smile!

dementedma · 02/10/2021 08:33

While waiting to pick up dh, a large stag( the animal kind, not like in pp) strolled casually out of the woods in front of me! Beautiful.

OvertheRainbow2U · 02/10/2021 09:09

currently cat/house sitting for DD. She'd recently laid turf in the lovely cottage garden. It's still springy. The resident squirrel thinks that all his dreams have come true and is now using it as a trampoline. It's like something out a a John Lewis Chrimbo advert.

seekings1mplicity · 02/10/2021 09:23

@Wrongsideofhistorymyarse I have been there. The whole world just feels brighter, doesn't it? Hoping he's going to be fine from now on.

Snowdropsandbluebells · 02/10/2021 09:28

Lovely thread

I've book some nice autumn days out. Hayride. 🎃 picking. Local spooky walk. 👻

I've bought and wrapped all santa gifts.

Today I put up my autumn garland and bits and bobs.

Planting bluebells today.

I just messed up a big chart that I had been colouring in for 20 hours.

I am on a training course, I don't speak the local language, nor do I have supplies such as scissors and glue to hand.

I went into to a stationary shop, (waiting outside for it to open!) cried on the staff and they were so wonderfully kind to me. Breathtakingly so.

It is not repaired to the best state that it can ever be and whilst it's not perfect anymore, I won't be afraid to present it.

tootootaataa · 02/10/2021 09:47

Forgot to say, kindness is lovely. I will not forget this (and yes, I will write a letter to the company)

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 02/10/2021 09:48

My horribly stubborn and very anxious teen has finally allowed the doctors to send a letter to school. She has refused any help and interventions all her life.

At last l can see🌤

LaurieFairyCake · 02/10/2021 09:49

I'm on a gin tasting day out ...

Doomscrolling · 02/10/2021 09:50

My friend gave me a copy of her new book and I plan to spend the weekend reading it.

My daughter is going to her first gig with her best friends and is more excited than I’ve seen her in forever.

WhatWouldKalindaDo · 02/10/2021 09:55

My son has finally started treatment for ADHD after years of struggles getting him diagnosed.

I went to the pharmacy to pick the medication up and I was a bit emotional whilst going through everything with the pharmacist. She saw how upset I was and gave me a massive hug. She said "You look like you needed that. And please don't worry, your son will be just fine."

That little act of kindness made me feel 100% better.

MissMatty2hats · 02/10/2021 09:58

We were on our way to a hotel on Thursday and we were passing by a village I’d always wanted to see, one of my favourite films was shot there. So we made a small detour and stopped there for lunch. As we wandered around we found ourself down by the river and, here comes the lovely bit, the salmon were leaping up out of the water! Properly leaping up, fully clear of the water and splashing back in. It was amazing, we stood there for ages watching them. Made my week!

Littlebluebird123 · 02/10/2021 10:07

I love this. Even reading it has made me feel happy.
I'm just glad it's now the weekend and I can do as I please and just enjoy some time with the family outside of the school madness. 😊

WellLarDeDar · 02/10/2021 10:09

I had keyhole surgery and spent an entire day recovering at home cuddling my two kittens 🥰

CelloYouveGotABass · 02/10/2021 10:11

30 weeks pregnant and feeling ill and horrible. Toddler slept until 7am and now DH has taken toddler out for the morning (as he tends to do on a Saturday) and I’m sitting having tea and toast. No pressure to clean or tidy either.

theDudesmummy · 02/10/2021 10:18

My DS got "Star of the week" badge at school this week (special school, he had had some behaviour issues lately and now has settled again), I had promised him a trip of his choice if he ever got it, and he had chosen Coole Park (we live in Ireland). I didn't think I knew it (have not lived here very long), looked it up and found it is the place where one of my favourite poems from my schooldays was written. Going tomorrow and looking forward to it.
