It gets pretty depressing on here, shall we have a nice thread for the nice things we have done this week?

I have broken my hand and it is currently in a plaster cast. My dc are being really helpful in little ways like doing up my coat zip or folding my collar down as well as helping with the bigger things.

We had to clean dc1's bedroom yesterday and found an old note from dc2 saying, "Dear xxxx, I love you, from yyyy ♥ 😘"

We adopted a 6yr old rescue cat back in August - he was so scared and timid. He jumped up on the sofa and snuggled with me last night, think we are making some progress!

This happened to DH some years ago & I know just what you mean. Many congratulations to your DH.

Last year I had a lot of surgery on my face due to skin cancer. I do have some scarring which will always be noticeable, mainly to me, most people don't immediately see it.

Today I bumped into an ex-colleague who I hadn't seen for some months but was aware of the surgery I'd undergone and he said how fantastic I looked and what a brilliant job the surgeons had done.

Made my day.Grin

DD1 went off to university for the first time nearly a month ago. She invited DH and I to visit her last Saturday and we took her shopping then out for a delicious dinner. It was so lovely to see her again and even more lovely to see how settled she is already, and meet several of her new friends (who seemed really nice).

I miss her loads but am so thrilled to see how well she is adjusting to being independent and how much she is enjoying university life.

There were two deer in the field behind my house today, one grazing and one resting on the ground. It was raining, then a rainbow came out which looked like it ended almost at the deers feet. Wish I was a decent photographer and could have captured it. Will have to content myself with having it in my mind.

I went for a run along the canal today and the general autumn vibe was lovely. Light through the trees, shiney wet grass, ducks on the canal…

I was just thinking today our kitchen windows needed cleaning (a snail seems to have been wandering all over them), and our regular window cleaners turned up at lunchtime!

Today I made apple muffins with apples a neighbour kindly gave us from his garden, banana flapjack with over ripe bananas, and a veggie cottage pie which turned out particularly delicious.

This is a lovely thread for remembering to be grateful, even if you are feeling down. Thank you OP.

This Thursday (fingers crossed, touch wood etc) I will be seizure free for 10 weeks! I've had epilepsy for 10+ years and this is the second time I've made it this long without one.

Peace43 · 04/10/2021 21:02

I’m tucked up in bed with my lovely dog listening to the rain outside. Happy days!

This is brilliant, congratulations! Everything crossed for you, for many more Thursdays!

My dd had her 18th birthday party on Saturday. These are a cohort of kids who got shut down before GCSEs, who have spent so much time locked down, missing stuff, in their bedrooms, online only, in isolation, on and off schooling. Their narrative is work your socks off but uni entry this year is hard - deferrals, high birth rate, etc and your grades are suspect and you’ve never done exams.

It was fab. ( I’m not a stalker - venue said parents of hosts had to be in attendance). A proper good party. Lots of Prosecco drinking. Sneaky fags/vapes on the balcony. Girls looked enviously gorgeous, boys had made an effort. Not much fallout - one lost mobile, a couple of vomiters, a couple of over refreshed girls needing a bit of TLC, some lost property. We had chips served towards the end of the evening, which helped 👍.

I looked out on them mid evening - the dancing, singing, drinking, laughing and it was like the pulse of life was beating so strongly. It was joyous.

I've really enjoyed reading what lovely things everyone has had happen, thanks for the thread @Moneysavvymam

My DN came over for a visit yesterday and we had a lovely time doing a bit of baking and painting with lunch in between. I had great fun! I think he enjoyed himself too which is a bonus Wink
