I think her comments today were spot on, although not really professional she makes a valid point.

Labour gives us someone who thinks she is on Jeremy Kyle everytime she opens her mouth. It’s embarrassing. Even more embarrassing when you think about how she lowers the bar for all women in high profile positions.

@TheHouseILiveIn

Nice. Jeremy Kyle because she was a single mum at 16? You sound lovely!

@sst1234 CLEARLY meant she belongs on Jeremy Kyle because she is a foul mouthed reprobate who can't hold her tongue, and has no social skills and is coming across as very badly educated, and ignorant and rude. She said fuck all about her being a teen mum!

But then you knew that didn't you? Wink

WatchWait · 26/09/2021 20:40

I'd like her better if she wasn't so utterly convinced that twaw.

TSSDNCOP · 26/09/2021 20:40

When she gained prominence I had high hopes, a person that's pulled themselves up by their boot straps is an inspiration. The problem is her judgement. Today's comment might have grabbed headlines, probably articulated how many people on both sides are feeling.

The problem is that tomorrow her lack of judgement will be what is remembered, and it undermines her credibility to effect actual change, which I think she's capable of. I hope she reflects that she's left herself wide open. Someone upthread compared her to Mrs Castle, she might be but she will never walk in those shoes if she simply plays for the cheap seats.

rwalker · 26/09/2021 20:40

The only thing that surprise me was she actual committed to saying something .
Every time she's asked at the end of one of her rants what would you do says "it's not my job to tell them what to do " offers no solution to the issue she's slagging off commits to nothing .

Macncheeseballs · 26/09/2021 20:45

Unhinged is a word so rarely used about men

TheHouseILiveIn · 26/09/2021 20:49

This thread is disgusting and I'm hiding it. It shows exactly why this country is in the utter state it is in. I don't even care anymore . .you all deserve what you've got

TatoAndBeans · 26/09/2021 20:51

@Rosehip10

Vulgar ranting about "tories" by labour politicians like her will not win any additional votes. Can anyone really imagine Raynor as deputy prime minister?
Exactly. If they want to win, they need to win back voters from the Tories. Calling them scum isn’t much of a welcome!
WhoNeedsaManOfTheWorld · 26/09/2021 20:52

She's offensive to the working classes if she thinks we would speak like that in that situation
My parents had nothing but they knew how to act
She also doesn't know what a woman is
Did she rise through the union route? I was a union steward for a short time and she reminds me of the types who rise through the ranks. My branch was small with hard working stewards but the odd loud mouth quickly reached higher levels

Laquila · 26/09/2021 20:54

Haven't RTFT but she wasn't wrong, in my opinion. I agree with previous posters though that just because she was correct, it doesn't mean she's a good candidate for PM. But seriously, who is??! She winds people up but I find it hard to dislike her.

aquashiv · 26/09/2021 20:56

He has said far worse but I don't think calling him scum is right. At least scum had a purpose once.

Laquila · 26/09/2021 20:57

Interestingly it's just struck me that the words used to describe her on this thread (at least the ones that have jumped out at me) are rarely used about men, are they? Loudmouth, uncouth, potty-mouthed, bolshy etc.

Rosehip10 · 26/09/2021 21:02

@sst1234 Since when has the daughter of a successful shop owner (Thatcher) or a Church of England Vicar (May) been from " a working class" Confused

Both who went to Grammar school and Oxford btw..

TooBigForMyBoots · 26/09/2021 21:02

She is vile! I mean can you imagine her representing the UK in a global stage!?!? Of course not, she is an uneducated, uncouth, loudmouth.

I'm not sure anyone could have done as much damage as the 2 most recent Etonians we've had as PM.Hmm All this pearl clutching over AR calling them scumbags is a bit rich when we elected a morally bereft, lying cunt with questionable views about everyone who is not like him, as our Prime Minister.

It's misogyny for deflection. "Dont look at the terrible job our elected officials are doing. Never mind the empty shelves, petrol queues and soaring energy prices. Look at this mad, angry woman instead. Isn't she stupid and uncouth."HmmAngryHmm

Rosehip10 · 26/09/2021 21:09

The problem with Labour is that the people at the top of the Labour party think "hey so, the way to connect with people in "northern/red wall/working class" seats is to have someone like Angela Rayner ranting and raving, she "looks/sounds like them"

It's a view of the "working class" (vulgar, "loud", lacking aspiration, teenage mothers etc) - how many times is the Rayner "back story" pushed - that is offensive as some Tory views of working people

BlooDeBloop · 26/09/2021 21:11

'Banana republic' rings very close to the 'shit-hole countries' comment from another politician on the other side of the divide...

TooBigForMyBoots · 26/09/2021 21:12

The the people at the top of the Labour party would like to be rid of her.

Snoozer11 · 26/09/2021 21:12

Decent people do not call others "scum".

Blossomtoes · 26/09/2021 21:14

@Macncheeseballs

Unhinged is a word so rarely used about men
So true. The misogyny on display here is breathtaking.
WormYourHonour · 26/09/2021 21:17

@Snoozer11

Decent people do not call others "scum".
Decent people don't allow poor people to starve to death. Decent people dont take money from the poor. Decent people don't call Muslims letter boxes. Decent people don't organise for dinghies to be forced back in water. Decent people don't vote based on xenophobia.

Etc etc..

TSSDNCOP · 26/09/2021 21:17

Both who went to Grammar school and Oxford btw..

As did Barbara Castle.

Newnewnew1179 · 26/09/2021 21:19

My criticism of AR and the words she’s used have sod all to do with her being a woman. I’d say exactly the same if Andy Burnham or Ed Miliband or Keir Starmar had said it .

Tinpotspectator · 26/09/2021 21:20

She said today she wanted to take on Tory sleaze. What's not to like?

DerAlteMann · 26/09/2021 21:21

Name calling. Always a good way to attract the floating voter.

Lentil63 · 26/09/2021 21:24

@mbosnz

She's not wrong, though, is she?
Ok, the lady is talking about Conservative voters; I vote Conservative as does my husband, both our sons and their partners. You don’t know us and I take exception to you having that opinion of us. What does it say about Ms Rayner that she can condemn so many she has never met? Ignorant, uncouth and uneducated springs to mind.
Snoozer11 · 26/09/2021 21:24

@WormYourHonour those things aren't mutually exclusive. Are you unable to understand that?
