I think her comments today were spot on, although not really professional she makes a valid point.

I missed this. It wasnt widely reported. It was a thoughtless foolish remark and the MP in question apologised and realises he shouldn't have said it. Or written in this case I think. Angela Rayner is not going to apologise and says she means it. She comes over as rather a horrible woman and doesn't see see any reason to hide the fact.

Blossomtoes · 27/09/2021 18:18

@TooBigForMyBoots

I would wonder about the reason why posters don't see James Gray's Gray's disgusting "joke" as worthy of comment, but I know why: hes a Tory man and they can say whatever they like.Angry
That’s been pretty successfully buried, hasn’t it?
TooBigForMyBoots · 27/09/2021 18:29

Of course it wasn't @Viviennemary. That is because systemic sexism and misogyny is alive and kicking in our media and corridors of power.

Blossomtoes · 27/09/2021 18:39

It was a thoughtless foolish remark

It was a death threat but apparently that’s OK because it was a Tory male MP. Talk about double standards.

Leibham · 27/09/2021 19:41

@Blossomtoes of course it’s alright because he’s a well spoken Tory

Crazy to see people basing political views based on their dislike of personalities within the party.

She said Tory scum rightly so, denying hungry children meals, racist comments, blatantly squandering billions on their mates, raising taxes for the poor, penalising the young but hold on let’s focus on AR using the word scum instead.

TooBigForMyBoots · 27/09/2021 19:43

I'm sure the good women of Mnet who posted on this thread denouncing AR are not guilty of double standards @Blossomtoes. Any moment now they will come back to this thread calling for James Gray to resign/be sacked and declare their inability to vote Conservative while he is in the party.

Leibham · 27/09/2021 19:44

@TooBigForMyBoots Absolutely spot on.

Leibham · 27/09/2021 19:45

@TooBigForMyBoots.

Also they’ll realise the comments BJ has made regarding black people and Muslim women are disgraceful. They will fully condemn it and demand a public apology.

Gandalfsthong · 27/09/2021 19:48

I agree with her, but I don’t think it was a helpful comment. I’d be genuinely interested to hear what Kim Ledbetter felt about it. Surely we should not be fostering hate right now, when we have seen what a devastating effect such a narrative has had in the past.

Plus BOJO will never apologise, he’s unable to accept responsibility for any of the shit storm that we find ourselves in.

sst1234 · 27/09/2021 20:00

@Barbadossunset

Angela isn’t the only Labour MP in the news for…er..plain speaking. Claudia Webbe is in court today for threatening and harassing another woman and saying to her “You're a slag and you should be acid." Not sure what ‘you should be acid’ means.
Sums up the standard of female labour MPs. Honestly it’s embarrassing that these women are supposed to be representing working class women everywhere. Disgusting.
Limejuiceandrum · 27/09/2021 20:03

James gray story had 107 comments on the mail
Angela had 1.2 thousand comments

There you go ! Really shows that the media is in power and people lap it up.

No one in the last 40 years of government has won an election without the support of the dailies, none ever.

Whatever Rupert murdoch says goes. And all the fools agree

But both in same paper?

So one not hidden doesn’t it just show the AR story is more interesting to people

Blossomtoes · 27/09/2021 20:20

They’re doing nothing of the sort. They represent their constituents of both sexes.

Well kind of. The DM is a right wing, sexist newspaper. Most of its readership is right wing and or misogynist so a story about a left wing woman is going to get plenty of loons in a froth, commenting BTL. I'm sure the Meghan Sussex wears coat, then takes off coat got more comments than Tory Politician "Jokes" About Sending a Bomb.🤷‍♀️

However this is not the Daily Mail. This is Mumsnet, where the posters are intelligent, have integrity and don't indulge double standards. Many of us are feminists too, including contributors to this thread.

As I said, no doubt they'll be back to the thread to say how "unprofessional" James Gray is and call for him to go.

I actually manage to find more than one thing disgusting at a time.

Why can’t we discuss what the thread is about rather than someone else?

I looked up his comment though and yes it’s terrible. Not least for what it conjures up in terms of historical actions

Pixxie7 · 27/09/2021 21:22

Kier probably agrees with some of what she said but is too much of gentleman to say it. Did anyone see PM questions last week. In which I thought she came over articulate but funny.

She was great at PMQs last week. She absolutely demolished Raab.

Why would we ignore a Tory MP’s death threat when we’re so keen to say how disgusting it is to tell the truth @MarshaBradyo? It’s fine to threaten a female Labour MP but not to use derogatory language to make accurate observations about the worst government of my life time.

MarshaBradyo · 27/09/2021 21:39

You don’t have to ignore it @Blossomtoes but the thread is specifically about Rayner

So it’s no surprise that most posts are focusing on that.

MrsLCSofLichfield · 27/09/2021 21:55

@x2boys

Keir Starmer needs to put his money where his mouth is, hes quick to criticise, and call for resignation when politicians from other parties fuck up, if he sacks her people might start looking at him as a Leader.
Oooh, a leader! Biscuit
MrsLCSofLichfield · 27/09/2021 21:56

Sorry, I meant a Leader, of course Biscuit Biscuit

IvorHughJarrs · 27/09/2021 22:06

@AlfonsoTheMango

I read recently that her mother couldn't read and would serve her shaving foam and dog food for lunch.

Rayner needs to stop whining about her childhood and show that she is an adult with ideas about how to lead both a political party and a country. So far, she has failed to do so.

Absolutely this! She is a one-trick-pony who bangs on endlessly about her difficult past where she should be telling us what she is achieving now and planning to do if she wants to win votes.
I'm sick of her "I'm a gobby Northerner" who says it as it is performance, that's just an excuse for rudeness, and I say that as a gobby Northerner myself
