I think her comments today were spot on, although not really professional she makes a valid point.

OP posts:
Leibham · 27/09/2021 11:30

@the80sweregreat

Nonsense

Conservative MP John Gray said he’d like to plant a bomb in Annelise Dodds office.

Leibham · 27/09/2021 11:32

Tories and the press are really riled by her!

Iggly · 27/09/2021 11:37

@Leibham

Tories and the press are really riled by her!
Yes. They were also riled by Jeremy Corbyn in 2017 and look what happened there 😬
PersonaNonGarter · 27/09/2021 11:43

Does she want people to be riled? I mean is that the point? Or does she want people to give her party a vote?

Katie Hopkins also ‘riles’ people. No one is suggesting she would get voters support to form a government.

OhWhyNot · 27/09/2021 11:47

Nye Bevan was far more intelligent and articulate

Not sure I would use that speech as an example of support. Labour should have walked the next election they didn’t they lost a huge amount of seats that there had to be another election soon after which they lost

Watch her interview with Andrew Neil it’s a car crash

Yes I’m aware BJ couldn’t find the time or whatever

But Im interested in how Labour are winning over voters so they can have the chance to win the next election

Please let’s have a credible opposition so they have that chance

Barbadossunset · 27/09/2021 11:48

Does she want people to be riled?

Persona - I guess she lives in a bubble where everyone agrees with her views. Therefore today she will have been told by her circle that what she said was brilliant, look how annoyed the Tories and the Tory press are, keep it up Angela, we’re behind you.
In fact I expect she’ll come up with some similar views in the future.

MarshaBradyo · 27/09/2021 11:50

Interviewer on radio said colleagues were not impressed

I think she’s a liability but then Labour are struggling to get it together

SaddenedByItAll · 27/09/2021 11:51

@Leibham

Tories and the press are really riled by her!
By riled do you mean "laughing all the way to the next election due to no credible opposition"?

Cos then yeah, they're really riled

OhWhyNot · 27/09/2021 11:52

It won’t stop her. She will be encouraged by the left of the party

What a gift for the Tories. They will be enjoying this as much as her supporters

SaddenedByItAll · 27/09/2021 11:52

I imagine that James O'Brien is lapping it all up this morning on LBC.

As an acid test that usually means bad things

Yep and when they continue to lose votes and elections, its not because of their actions etc, its because the electorate have been brainwashed by the Tories and are to thick to see it 🙄in
Barbadossunset · 27/09/2021 12:18

x2boys yes.

They’ll say it’s the wrong sort of voter that puts Tories in power, the electorate is thick, racist etc. There are comments saying that on mn the whole time.
Fine, but it doesn’t win Labour elections.

Evesgarden · 27/09/2021 12:24

I am so fucked off by Labour. I dont understand why they cannot read the room, its like they are in their own little bubble and have no idea how their members or ex labours supporters are feeling about them.

They are convinced they are right despite losing so many voters and getting battered in the elections yet they still will not look at what they are doing and try and rectify the damage they have done.

Has there ever been a party that actively expelled women and told them to leave because women didn't agree with some of their policies? Its a huge sunken costs fallacy that has ruined them.

There is so much in house fighting, it is basically two parties under one umbrella, the new style devotees need to leave and set up their own political party and let the traditionalist Labour MPs let labour recover and get back on its feet. The Labour MPs are happy to troll on SM, make ridiculous polls and get involved in twitter pile ons - when they should actually showing leadership and dignity. SM has been a curse on the Labour Party because its shown them to be complete dickheads.

At its current state, they are giving the Tories votes, the Tories can sit back and just watch the Labour Party eat its self. How are ever going to get the Tories out when the Labour party is this bad.

And Angela - if you ever read this thread - I am from a working class family, I was also a single mother, I also own my business and I do not speak like that to my staff when I am trying to lead them. You do not speak for me. Take your rebel rousing hot air and sod off and come back when you know the difference between male and female and some clear strategies to get us out of this mess.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 27/09/2021 12:27

The main reason Labour aren't getting my vote is all the TWAW crap and their silence as women are bullied and erased.
Like many others, I'm politically homeless now.

Snoozer11 · 27/09/2021 12:31

I read recently that her mother couldn't read and would serve her shaving foam and dog food for lunch.

I can't be the only one who thinks that's bullshit? Surely you'd be able to tell that something that looks and smells like shaving foam, and which is on the shelf away from all other foodstuffs isn't actually a food itself?

Leibham · 27/09/2021 12:32

Riled because they’re not used to being called out by an opposition hence their only defence is that she used the word scum, because she was right.

All anyone can focus on is their dislike of her common manner and the word scum. She is actually an opposition as opposed to Keir and the Labour Party in general.

Meanwhile Boris is busy ruining the country, making sure undergraduates pay more tax by lowering the salary threshold for repaying student loans for example. Making sure his rich mates and wealthy people are always prioritised.

Indeed, and dog food tins usually have a picture of a dog on the front which is a bit of a giveaway.
barnet2709 · 27/09/2021 12:34

Right to be very critical, wrong choice of words.

Crikeyalmighty · 27/09/2021 12:34

Whilst I sympathise with her sent

Crikeyalmighty · 27/09/2021 12:39

Ah it off!! Whilst I sympathise with the sentiments she expressed- it doesn’t help in politics if you sound inarticulate and like the playground ‘you smell’ yob. Contrast with Rachael Reeves or Yvette Cooper who can get a point across articulately. You need to be discussing the issues and points in depth and emphasising your solutions, not petty name calling- you just give the right wing ammunition.

She wasn't critical - she accused them of a variety of thought crimes.

Her mother was illiterate plus had significant mental health issues. That combination could easily lead to events such as she describes. My mother has neither of those issues and has produced some outrageous meal combinations over the years although not dog food (I hope!)

Where did she make these comments anyway? Was it on stage in a proper speech? Or at a reception with booze flowing?

I bet the Tories have called Labour members and voters all sorts, they’ve just not been called out on it by the media.

It doesn’t make it right, but it is hypocritical.

I would prefer that Labour politicians rose above the playground politics exhibited by the current crop of Tory politicians. Keep the thoughts of scum to themselves.

Having grown up in a severely chaotic household with a mum with severe mental health issues, I can absolutely see that this could happen.

My mum used to serve us cheap and nasty pizzas which were still frozen at her low points. I remember, I was about 10, and quietly putting them back in to the oven to cook for me and my brother. I have plenty of other examples.

It was shit. And shocking on reflection. So yes I believe her. Why the fuck would she lie?

Some people are so narrow minded that they can only understand life being lived as how they experience it.

Iggly · 27/09/2021 12:54
