I think her comments today were spot on, although not really professional she makes a valid point.

All the time women like Rosie Duffield can't attend their own party conference for fear of attack and the Labour leadership does nothing to defend her and in fact, willingly throws her to the wolves, I have no time or respect for any of them calling anyone else misogynistic or scum!

the80sweregreat · 27/09/2021 10:32

I'm politically homeless now :(
I've never voted Tory , the lid dems have sided with them before now , so I'm skeptical of them and nobody else seems credible.
Who do I vote for ?

OhWhyNot · 27/09/2021 10:33

In her position she needs to understand how the press work and how politics works in this country

Majority of the press is Tory. She isn’t going to change that and she has handed herself to them on a plate

We mostly vote and have done for the last 100 years for Conservatives

You work with what you have to get into power that is why the Conservatives are so successful (most successful political party in history) not with an ideal of politics of slagging off the opposition and in turn who has voted for them

Labour also desperately need the floating voters support this is not the way to win them over. It implies they too are scum

If Rayner can not grasp this simple understanding of how our politics plays out then she should not be in such a senior position. Corbyn couldn’t and well we all know how well that went

I’m guessing next we shall be hearing talks of the revolution 🙄

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 27/09/2021 10:34

“We cannot get any worse than a bunch of scum, homophobic, racist, misogynist, absolute pile of banana republic Etonian piece of scum.”

Did she really say banana republic? Wow. Pots and kettles.

Viviennemary · 27/09/2021 10:43

You really couldn't get any worse than her as far as I'm concerned and a lot of other folk too. Goodbye Labour Party. She has to go. And racist language too if she said that.

ElliottSmithsfingers · 27/09/2021 10:43

She's just awful in every way. Just horrible.

the80sweregreat · 27/09/2021 10:44

The thing is, whatever the conservatives may think of someone like Angela Raynor , they keep it to themselves. You know they probably don't think much of her, but they are a bit more diplomatic about it.
Boris Johnson wrote those articles she was referring to a long time ago and he has been pulled up on it in the past too. It's not right what he had said and wrote, but it is what it is and
It didn't stop people voting for him and all this wont stop them winning the next election , in fact it will alienate people even more I think. It'll play into the whole ' Labour a bunch of nutters ' thought process.
She is an idiot if she thinks this will win anyone over and her boss knows this too! He looked embarrassed yesterday. So he should!
She needs to go.

Gmom · 27/09/2021 10:48

Two wrongs don't make a right. If Boris's rude comments are unacceptable so are Rayner's comments.

I think people should follow Michelle Obama's mantra "they go low, we go high."

I hate the current use of shortcut words and phrases like Tory scum, woke, snowflake etc. in lieu of making articulate objections and rational arguments with substance.

x2boys · 27/09/2021 10:50

Keir Starmer needs to put his money where his mouth is, hes quick to criticise, and call for resignation when politicians from other parties fuck up, if he sacks her people might start looking at him as a Leader.

sst1234 · 27/09/2021 10:53

@x2boys

Exactly. If he is a politician serious about winning, getting rid of her would make him look strong and firm in wanting to turn this from a party of fringe weirdos to vote winners.
therebeccariots · 27/09/2021 10:55

The great Nye Bevan described the Tories as 'lower than vermin'. I think that observation stands strong all these decades later. Scum seems kind in comparison!

Viviennemary · 27/09/2021 10:55

And if he doesn't sack her he might as well resign as leader and let her take over. It will be quicker that way.

WindBlowAutumnDays · 27/09/2021 10:56

True and fair - a new political party has been laubched, interesting with all the lies we are being told and wordd we are not to say.

Notonthestairs · 27/09/2021 11:07

I don't think Raynor can be sacked even if Starmer wanted to - she was directly elected.

I thought he couldnt sack her was an MP, but could sack her her position?
Blossomtoes · 27/09/2021 11:12

@stitchmaker85

I can't take anything she says seriously since I heard her unable to correctly pronounce the word 'Secretary' during deputy PMQs last week
I can’t say digital - does that mean nothing I ever say should be taken seriously? It’s really concerning that people with this mentality are allowed to vote.
wanttomarryamillionaire · 27/09/2021 11:16

She is one of the reasons that Labour is still completely unelectable!

Notonthestairs · 27/09/2021 11:17

My understanding is that Deputy Leader isn't appointed by the Leader and therefore can't be removed by the Leader. They are appointed by members and affiliates.
I'd be interested to know if that's incorrect.

Yes. As I said before, I'm politically homeless now. That's how it feels

Ah right, so she wont be removed then if this is the case.
Notonthestairs · 27/09/2021 11:23

No. She pretty much has her own power base within the party (as all Deputies will have over the years). Hence Starmer has little leverage. To function well both Leader and Deputy need to be on the same page...

Viviennemary · 27/09/2021 11:23

It's Corbyn all over again. Only worse. Becsuse she is worse.

It isn’t good for Starmer I agree
