I think her comments today were spot on, although not really professional she makes a valid point.

OP posts:
Macncheeseballs · 26/09/2021 22:45

It's astonishing how many women want to push her down

missmoon · 26/09/2021 22:45

I’m not a Labour voter, and find Angela Rayner scheming and annoying, but on this particular occasion I think she’s right. Perhaps expressed a little crudely, but not wrong in the content.

missmoon · 26/09/2021 22:46

Also, her name is Rayner (not Raynor)?

Tealightsandd · 26/09/2021 22:47

@Futurecatmum2

“Unhinged” “Uncouth” “Loudmouth” “Power hungry”

I wonder how many people would use these terms to describe a male politician quite as readily.

Come on. Boris regularly gets as bad. Priti Patel too.

You don't have to be a fan of either to acknowledge that.

Personally I wish all sides would stick to policies. But it's easier to do name calling. Which is a shame for the public.

Leibham · 26/09/2021 22:47

@Macncheeseballs

The condescending vitriol and nastiness of those apparently astounded by her ‘uncouth’ mouth. Typical hypocrisy.

SaddenedByItAll · 26/09/2021 22:47

@Willyoujustbequiet

She's not wrong.

A lot of internalised misogyny in some replies here but in real life ( judging from my social media anyway) she's struck a chord.

Social Media is inherently left wing

If you'd believe Twitter then JC was going to walk the GE against Theresa May

reprehensibleme · 26/09/2021 22:48

Sorry, as theythinkitsallover says, Rayner being a wc young, unmarried mother - as she reminds us every 5 minutes - is not an excuse. She will have had access to the best PR. She's not endearing herself to me as a working class woman largely because of the way she's coming across. I don't behave like this and no-one I know would use such language in a public arena.

I wouldn't compare her to Diane Abbott (apart from the misogynistic abuse). Diane Abbott behaves with far more dignity.

Kittii · 26/09/2021 22:48

I think the class snobbery is coming from AR rather than bring displayed against her. She is the one trying to stoke up a class war.

Macncheeseballs · 26/09/2021 22:48

Daphnise, surely 'a nobody' is someone commenting anonymously on a public forim

@Kittii

Yes.

It's so unhelpful. The public needs decent policies and an electable opposition. It doesn't need name calling and attempts at stoking division.

MrsKrystalStubbs · 26/09/2021 22:51

The abuse AR is getting reminds me of Diane Abbott, who is elected time and again despite what you read about her on social media except Diane went to grammar school and then to Cambridge. After which she had a few good jobs before entering politics. They aren’t really comparable at all.

TooBigForMyBoots · 26/09/2021 22:52

If she'd kept her mouth shut , or, better still, expressed it in a more civised way, she wouldn't BE the story that deflects from the current snafu.

Yes, if only she had been silent/nicer.🙄 That's not misogynistic at all.🤔

Leibham · 26/09/2021 22:52

@Kittii Someone’s got to defend the WC against the disdainful Tories, who with their recent tax rules and handling of the pandemic are indeed warring against the WC in a more lethal way than a woman being uncouth by calling them out.

OhWhyNot · 26/09/2021 22:56

Pritti Patel certainly gets her fair share of abuse and racism thrown at her from the left wing press

The press are right to report Rayners outburst and of course they shall continue to which stupidly she will play into. Last year she was pulled up in Parliament for calling an MP you have guessed it scum

BareGrylls · 26/09/2021 22:56

She will alienate voters exactly as Corbyn did. So frustrating when Labour actually has plenty of intelligent, articulate women MPs that AR is on the front bench.

Just when I thought might return to Labour.

OhWhyNot · 26/09/2021 22:58

I doubt many wc voters are impressed by her I’m certainly not

But who will be are those who think they know what’s best for the wc and feel we all think alike Hmm

Macncheeseballs · 26/09/2021 22:59

Baregrylls, ah never mind, probs best off over there

Leibham · 26/09/2021 23:00

It’s apparent that people would prefer the fake bluster from a lying scumbag who is outrageously inept because he’s well spoken than hear the truth from a common woman because she said the word scum Hmm

Blossomtoes · 26/09/2021 23:02

They both get torn to pieces by their detractors. That makes them very comparable.
MadameTuffington · 26/09/2021 23:03

What’s very positive about her is that she is where she is having had NO PRIVILEDGE - In modern politics this is so bloody rare - she left school at 16 with no qualifications, was a young, unmarried single Mum, did a long spell as a Carer and rose up through the ranks because of sheer hard work and bloody mindedness - don’t think we can say the same about Johnson et al can we gals??? In this regard she is an excellent spokeswoman for a party that espouses a fairer society.

Some proper effing snobs on here tonight 👍👍

TSSDNCOP · 26/09/2021 23:06

The thing is she's uniquely placed to be better than the "Eton scum" by virtue of her position in spite of her unbringing.

Playing for the sound bite is foolish, when she could power the debate just be being better than those that had more early advantages.

SusieBob · 26/09/2021 23:07

If anything I think she held back compared to what those pricks deserve.

reprehensibleme · 26/09/2021 23:07

Leibham, the problem is Rayner's demeanour does not suggest she'd be a safe pair of hands which is what the country desperately needs at the moment. Plus lack of policy. Tbh if Labour can't garner support against the current shower I wonder at their ability to govern at all, ever. It's depressing. I know it's old fashioned but I appreciate a bit of decorum from public figures and it's lacking in so many quarters.

Theythinkitsalloveritisnow · 26/09/2021 23:08

I'm working class and I do not want someone supposedly representing me who is so aggressive and angry. How does that help me? If I "need" to be represented by someone working class, I would prefer it to be someone who can get across their anger about things without the abusiveness. I don't think it helps anyone tbh, and from a personal perspective, I don't like it and it puts me off from voting labour. Which is a shame as it leaves me with absolutely no-one to vote for Grin
