He can't breathe.

He was poorly on weds Eve with a temp. I actually posted on here about it. He's not got better. Continuous cough
Did a test on Friday. No result yet. Called 11 because we hasn't eaten for 5 days. Continuous temp for 5 days. He's so poorly. Has no energy to even sit up and watch the telly.

111 asked us to take him to emergency care
Here.nkw waiting to be seen. He can't catch his breath. He's my only child, my PFB. I can't cope. Husband isn't allowed to be with us. I'm all alone.

He's only 3 years old. He hasn't lived yet

You're in the right place and he may well just need a little extra help with oxygen. This is terrifying as a parent but not terrifying to a HCP. They know exactly how to help, please try to relax

Take it easy. He’ll be seen soon. Let us know how he gets on. There is no reason to fear the worst.

He’s in the right place, in a way if you have to wait a little while to be seen it’s a good thing. It means he’s not seriously poorly. I hope he feels better soon.
There’s nothing more terrifying than your children being poorly, it’s the worst. You’ve done exactly the right thing though and he’s where he needs to be.

It’ll be okay. If they thought it was really urgent they would have called the ambulance themselves, so the fact they haven’t means it’s a positive sign.

Loads of nasty illnesses are around at the minute that can make children really poorly. It could be covid but more than likely could be a virus or chest infection too.

He will absolutely be in the right place and get the right treatment and if they are worried at all after triage he will be seen as a priority.

I’m not medical but I work with sick children and they can bounce back very quickly when treated correctly. I do know it’s worrying as a parent.

Oh love. I used to work in A+E as a nurse up until Dec last year. If he was really bad he wouldnt be waiting to be seen.

Thank you. He's had his vitals taken and they are getting a doctor to come. He needs some blood tests and things. His name is Freddie and he's the most lovey, kind little boy on the planet

Oh, my dear, my heart goes out to you and your DS.
We've had similar, in that my 15 month old DS has been rushed (blue lighted) to hospital 3 times in 4 months, really struggling to breathe. It's not been Covid yet, but different, usually mild viruses.
Last time, he was gasping at 124 breaths a minute (should be 40 a min), and his oxygen levels were 69%. He goes downhill so quickly.

However, a couple of days on oxygen, steroids and sometimes antibiotics, and he's back be being the little terror we know and love.

If the hospital is concerned about him having Covid, they can run a Nudge test, which will give a PCR accurate Covid test within about an hour. The kit for these were released to hospitals in the first few days of September.

It's terrifying when they can't breathe properly. DS may be rushed to Resus, but this is just because they have the correct kit to help him there.

My prayers will be with you both. If there is anything that you don't understand, or are worried about, make sure you ask.

Fingers crossed he improves quickly. I saw someone on here say once that small children go down so quickly with serious illnesses but they bounce back so quickly too, it's certainly true of my son who was in and out of hospital with serious breathing issues when he was small, and within an hour of getting there, would be sitting up, laughing and joking and asking for sweets. I hope that's true for your son too.

I have taken mine to hospital twice for various illnesses (lethargic, high temp, breathing difficulties) and in both cases they have done the small child thing and bounced back really quickly leaving me feeling a bit silly when the doctor came round and they were bouncing on the bed. I am hoping that the same happens for your beautiful son.

I was in with my little boy last night. Very similar symptoms. Thankfully steroids and oxygen helped him straight away. They said it was most likely croup but this afternoon he sounds far more chesty. They go down hill so quickly but they perk back up just as fast!! He's now playing like nothings happened and he didn't just scare the life out of his mummy and daddy
