He can't breathe.

He was poorly on weds Eve with a temp. I actually posted on here about it. He's not got better. Continuous cough
Did a test on Friday. No result yet. Called 11 because we hasn't eaten for 5 days. Continuous temp for 5 days. He's so poorly. Has no energy to even sit up and watch the telly.

111 asked us to take him to emergency care
Here.nkw waiting to be seen. He can't catch his breath. He's my only child, my PFB. I can't cope. Husband isn't allowed to be with us. I'm all alone.

OP posts:

You poor thing. It’s every parents worst nightmare and terrifying. I agree with the posters that said once he has the right care the likelihood is he will bounce back. I hope he gets that care soon and you are not waiting much longer as it’s awful having to.

Shellfishblastard · 26/09/2021 16:16

I’m sorry to hear this OP. Now they know what is going on they can start treatment quickly.

We all have times when we go over what we did and doubt ourselves. We are good at beating ourselves up!

MerryMarigold · 26/09/2021 16:17

You will get used to the oxygen saturation monitor. It bleeps under a certain amount (85 or 90, I can't remember) which gets very annoying for a long while. I'm sure he'll be right as rain in a couple of days and wanting to run about. Take care OP.

Cheeeeislifenow · 26/09/2021 16:18

Freddie is in my thoughts!! X

JasonMomoasgirlfriend · 26/09/2021 16:20

He's in the right place and I'm sure he will be as good as new soon. Little ones go down hill quickly but they also recover quickly.

Thinking of you and Freddie.

Knitwit101 · 26/09/2021 16:21

Get well soon Freddie, and I hope you're doing okay Freddie's mum. Such a scary time, especially if you're on your own

namesnamesnamesnames · 26/09/2021 16:23

Oh my love. Flowers

Wilderflower · 26/09/2021 16:27

Lots of love and best wishes to Freddie and mummy. Your little boy loves you and he chose you to be his mummy for a reason Flowers All he needs right now is there with him. Thinking of you all x

minatrina · 26/09/2021 16:28

I'm so sorry OP, I'll be thinking of you and little Freddie! It sounds to me like you've done everything right, you're a fab mum, and he's in the best possible place he can be to get him on the mend Thanks

Yubaba · 26/09/2021 16:29

It’s very scary when they are I’ll, DS1 caught swine flu when he was a baby and was really poorly, he was in an isolation ward because it was during the pandemic in 2009, he bounced back after a few days and now he’s a strapping 12 year old.
I remember how terrified I was at the time but the nurses were amazing and really kept me calm.
Hopefully little Freddie will be fine in a few days x

Wagsandclaws · 26/09/2021 16:29

Love and prayers for your little Freddie. He is absolutely in the best place and the doctors will know exactly what he needs.

Please don't blame yourself, at 3 years old they go downhill as quickly as he will come back up! Please look after yourself too as his mummy and daddy need him to be strong Thanks

mommybear1 · 26/09/2021 16:31

It's not your fault OP children go down really really quickly they also perk up really quickly. Thinking of you all and a very tight handhold here. My DS has unfortunately been blue lighted for breathing issues a few times you are in the right place. Sending lots of love 💕

trumpisagit · 26/09/2021 16:32

Pneumonia is horrible, but the antibiotics will work their magic quickly.
He is in the right place, with you there.

ivfbabymomma1 · 26/09/2021 16:32

Tight hand hold OP. My little boy (2) (and also called Freddie, best name) was hospitalised for 2 days earlier in the year with severe croup and it was absolutely terrifying. And then suddenly within 2 hours he just recovered? And we could go home & he got better each day and within a week it was like it never happened! All the love & best wishes for a speedy recovery!

AnneShirleysNewDress · 26/09/2021 16:32

Handhold for you and Freddie 💕

WandaVision2 · 26/09/2021 16:34

Are they going to do a PCR? Lateral flow’s are no way near as accurate

Aposterhasnoname · 26/09/2021 16:35

It’s not your fault OP, and he’s going to be absolutely fine.

AubergineParmigiana · 26/09/2021 16:36

My DD was hospitalised with pneumonia when she had just turned two. She was very poorly for a few days (really low sats, struggling to breathe, severe vomiting, temp of 41) but antibiotics made a massive improvement very quickly. Hand hold, but rest assured he is very likely to be just fine.

I remember the doctor who sent us to hospital saying "she's got pneumonia, but I promise you she'll get better".

Thanks
NoddingTulip · 26/09/2021 16:36

Children are very resilient and tend to bounce back quickly.
My friends almost 3yr old was admitted to hospital on Friday afternoon after a chest infection turned into pneumonia, she went floppy and her lips were turning blue, so she was blue lighted in. She was put on oxygen and an antibiotic drip. This afternoon she is out of bed playing and has started eating again. The nurses are pretty hopeful she'll be able to come home tomorrow after the doctor has seen her.

You and Freddie are in the best place and I'm sure he'll be on the mend in no time. Thinking of you both (and poor daddy at home worrying) and sending best wishes for a speedy recovery.

ChaoBella · 26/09/2021 16:51

Get well soon

SlidDownTheElephantsTrunk · 26/09/2021 17:00

Hand hold for you and Freddie Flowers

Hope me makes a quick recovery with some medication.

GoingOutOutNEVER · 26/09/2021 17:05

Bless you all. How awful for everyone. Hope dh is holding up not be of there. DS is definitely in the right place. You’re doing great, you’re able to be with him it’s good he has one of you, understandable not both there’s nothing that can be done.

kasho5 · 26/09/2021 17:09

My daughter caught pneumonia just after her first birthday. A few hours after they started the antibiotics she was a different baby all together and hopefully that will be the case with your little boy too. We had two nights in hospital and then she was able to go home.

Etonmessisyum · 26/09/2021 17:10

He will be well looked after op. Many little ones have chest infections, some you can look after at home some need extra help, how were you to know which way this would go. Often they can be seen in paeds on assessment ward one day and be ok for home and return the next day for iv anti biotics and oxygen. Then they can be off it just as quick.

The nurses will do obs as his condition dictates but you can ask for more temp checks etc if you’re worried and they’ll space them out if they are happy with him. Sats monitor will make a noise and it will alarm if it’s not on properly or falls off, they can be a big pain in the neck! He may not eat much but be on fluids or encouraged to drink plenty. Ask for pain killers for him if you feel he’s sore. It’s tough!! My youngest is asthmatic so been there many times with him and I’m also a nurse so it’s quite torturous being on the ward and bot being able to do anything.
Hope Freddie is on the mend soon, ask the staff for anything you need!! Even if there is a question you forgot to ask. Take care

GrowThroughWhatYouGoThrough · 26/09/2021 17:10

Kids fall ill fast but they also bounce back super quick. I know it must be scary but he's in the best place for him
