Be in no doubt, when society removes the words we use to define ourselves they remove the means for us to gather, to push back, to protect ourselves, to fight for our rights, to roar. It’s slow and almost imperceptible and then, BOOM…you have the likes of Ed Davey proclaiming on prime time radio that we can’t exclude men.

I love that we are talking like this now and publicly in lots of spaces. No debate is not a thing any more and women are braver now there are more of us rallying against this bullshit. I feel buoyed up and hopeful.

I just don't know how this ideology is slipping through. I could identify as a sausage. It still makes me a biological female. It's the same with religion. You believe it. Excellent. Is it ok to force people to agree with you and appease you? No.

It is ok for women to be outraged at this. We are losing language, safety etc which has been hard won and does matter. Not to mention the erasure of gay identities as that's transphobic too.

Biology is not something that can can changed. I feel so sad for people who think it is or wish it was. It isn't. We need to move away from TWAW. TW are TW. Not biological females. Women.

Hear, fucking hear. The world has gone mad. It’s as though some people don’t have enough drama going on in their lives, they have to pretend to have identity issues to stand out from the crowd. Give me a break. Women have vaginas. Men have penises. Some are intersex but that is extremely rare. Some men with penises wish they were women and dress as such. They are still men. Some women wish they were men and dress as such. Fair dos. They are still women.

Well firstly, “female non-binary” is hugely contradictive in itself. “People with vaginas” is more inclusive because it includes trans people who do not identify as female but are yet to undergo surgery, for example. Of course I don’t speak for the whole trans community, but that is how I see it and how I feel.

Female is a biological fact and we should not let identity politics obscure that. It should never be framed as something to 'identify with' as that is what is causing the problems.

I disagree. People with vaginas is really reductive and dehumanising, and if you're talking about girls, downright creepy. Also why would being called a woman be triggering for a transman, but being referred to by their female biology isn't triggering?

Trans people have a biological sex and there needs to be honesty about what that sex is, so they can receive the appropriate healthcare.

It doesn’t even distinguish between whether you mean human bodies or animal ones, dead ones or live ones. The word you are looking for is ‘women’. As a scientific journal I would expect you to be motivated by science and not ‘feelings’. Out of adult humans only the female ones have vaginas and you should name them. The irony of the piece being about how women’s health has been neglected is extreme. I attach the tweet in question, plus another from a few days ago when you had no problem in using the word ‘men’ for your information.
I would appreciate an explanation of this appalling misuse of language and outright misogyny, plus an apology - not to me, but on twitter and on the cover of your next edition.

Actually I’d be ok with ‘women and other people with vaginas’ I mean, it’s nonsense because everyone with a vagina is a woman, but it’s not offensive at least. But it would have to be matched with ‘men and other people with penises’.
