Period and….balloon bursting? TMI warning

notevenamum1 · 12/09/2021 20:26

I know IABU by using AIBU for this but need help as feel pretty traumatised Sad

TMI warning here

Had a really bad day 2 period today. Woke up and emptied mooncup, seemed pretty normal. Popped it back in and then I started feeling what I can only imagine are contractions (although as name suggests never actually been preggos before so what do I know!) crippling pain that at one point I was on the floor doubled over almost crying. Iboprofun didn’t even slightly ease it.

Went to bathroom, mooncup was empty and it felt like my body was pushing it out and it was too painful to put back in so I used a pad instead. Whole day of extreme pain passed with no blood. Started to wonder if I was going to be in a headline saying “I didn’t know I was pregnancy until I gave birth on the toilet” Hmm or maybe if it was something else and I should see a doctor.

Come dinner time, I felt what can only be described as a balloon pop inside me and a hot gush from my vag all the way down my legs. Run to bathroom, blood EVERYWHERE Envy had to get in the shower and wash all my clothes.

Again, I am so sorry for this level of info but I feel a bit traumatised and confused about what happened. Has this happened to anyone before? Should I see a doc to make sure I still have both my ovaries? Blush

I don't recognise this. It sounds more extreme than normal flooding.

Is there any chance you could be pregnant?

TolkiensFallow · 12/09/2021 20:29

Do you feel ill at all?
I think you should consult your GP. It might just be that the moon cup was too high and the period was so heavy. But also you could have an infection so would be worth checking your temp etc.

Snoods · 12/09/2021 20:30

I’m so sorry, I can’t help you with what it was but I couldn’t just leave. I hope you are feeling okay but I would probably ring 111 as they might be able to help

Bathsandnaps · 12/09/2021 20:31

Yes, worth seeing a doctor for your own peace of mind

Codswallop20 · 12/09/2021 20:32

This doesn't sound right and doesn't sit well with me.

I actually would recommend a and e here, am nurse but not gynae but something has my spider senses going. Get checked out please.

bridgetreilly · 12/09/2021 20:32

Definitely get that checked, OP.

Anothernameanothertime · 12/09/2021 20:33

Could you be/have been pregnant? Do you have a regular cycle but was late this time?

I think you should speak to your doc - even if pain now gone (has it?) and period continuing

RoseAndGeranium · 12/09/2021 20:34

This sounds really scary, OP. I'd definitely be calling 111 at the very least. Are you in any pain now? Has the bleeding stopped?

FedNlanders · 12/09/2021 20:34

Definitely check with a doctor. X

PaperMonster · 12/09/2021 20:36

I used to have contractions during some of my bad periods - but I was bleeding at the same time and no pop. I did often end up in hospital with them as I was out of it and people would call an ambulance! I was told it was false labour syndrome or something like that. I’d be visiting the GP if I were you. X

notevenamum1 · 12/09/2021 20:36

Thanks ladies. I will call the gp in the morning. Speaking to a doctor seems near impossible these days but hopefully they at least give me a telephone appointment.

I feel well in myself otherwise thankfully. Definitely not pregnant but this is my first period whilst on the pill for quite some time as I had taken a break (but was very strictly using other contraception)

Another one saying get that checked out. You know what's normal for you and I imagine you wouldn't be posting here if it was. I would phone 111 now and tell them exactly what you've said here.

notevenamum1 · 12/09/2021 20:39

Should also add that I’m visiting my parents just now so can’t make it to my gp office until Thursday so hoping it’s ok or that I can be seen more locally if required. Seem to be back to having a normal period just now.

Based on comments might try 111

Perhaps a burst cyst? Happened to me a long while ago and I fainted. Not sure about the amount of blood pouring. Are you still bleeding heavily? I would ring 111 too. Not urgent perhaps but if you are bleeding (a lot/flooding) don't wait till morning. Wish you better.

Dizzywizz · 12/09/2021 20:42

Personally I would go to a & e, that sounds really scary. Definitely 111 if not

Cryalot2 · 12/09/2021 20:43

I did wonder if it could possibly have been a miscarriage.

Glad things have settled, but still speak to a dr or 111 I think you need checking out.

AngelicaElizaAndPeggy · 12/09/2021 20:43

Hope you are feeling a bit better by now, OP. Just wanted to say- I had almost exactly the same this week too. No 'popping' sensation but a whole day of the most immense flooding and huge clots. I have a mooncup too and it was all pretty horrific and I felt quite faint.

All fine and finished now - don't really have any advice really but am reassured it's not just been me! I hope you continue to feel well and that it was just a strange quirk on both our parts.

notevenamum1 · 12/09/2021 20:44

I don’t think I can just turn up to our local hospital a&e without having called 111 so I’m on hold to them just now.

I am feeling well and seem to have normal bleeding now but taking everyone’s advice and getting medical opinion. Thanks to everyone who has taken the time to respond. I really appreciate it

notevenamum1 · 12/09/2021 20:45

Thanks @AngelicaElizaAndPeggy that gives me some reassurance! If I get through to anyone on 111 then I’ll let you know what they say

GoodnightGrandma · 12/09/2021 20:46

Did you pass anything solid after the ‘contractions’ ?
I ask because I had similar and then passed a decidual cast.

Kitchendrama1 · 12/09/2021 20:46

Accident And Emergency

Neither require 111 call

LapinR0se · 12/09/2021 20:47

It also sounds like a cyst bursting to me.

notevenamum1 · 12/09/2021 20:50

@GoodnightGrandma no residual cast but that has actually happened before!

OP posts:
Meloncurse · 12/09/2021 20:50

I've had really bad pain previously, i.e. thinking I'm about to pass out, with waves of pain similar to contractions and then have passed a huge blood clot
