DH loves the Co-op Dirty Fries and Mozzarella and Roquito flatbread. As for the ready meals, my favourite is the vintage Macaroni cheese.

pecanmix · 11/09/2021 16:46

Bet they helped ward off the hangover Grin

SillyBlueHat · 11/09/2021 16:46

I'm absolutely gutted they have stopped the pizza with truffle oil. I could have eaten it daily.

SillyBlueHat · 11/09/2021 16:47

I need this back in my life

Excellent thread, thanks OP!

Big fan of the mushroom, marscapone and ham pizza. It’s delicious. No one else likes mushrooms on pizza. What a terrible shame, I think to myself as I scoff it. (I do share the crusts with the dog, because I’m not a monster.)

NoSquirrels · 11/09/2021 16:53

Also the cannelloni is actually really tasty. And as I am never going to be arsed to stuff cannelloni in a make-from-scratch fashion it’s the perfect ready meal. Ditto moussaka - no else but me likes it, so a portion of Co-op Finest is the best. All hail the Co-op ready meal.

I had co-op chicken korma meal the other night after making a delishious home made curry that was WAY to hot for me to eat.
Didnt even bother tipping it on to a plate!

I also dig the shepards pie and beef hot-pot. I get gravy cravings and these both hit the spot.

ghostyslovesheets · 11/09/2021 18:39
@ghostyslovesheets It's 20% discount on coop own brand, def worth having!
Oh even better!

DerAlteMann · 11/09/2021 19:10

Their sausage rolls are rank. HTH.

BippityBoppity87 · 11/09/2021 19:46

Oh I love their sausage rolls! I don't buy them often. Particularly the piping hot ones from the counter. Delicious. Unpopular opinion, but I think they're much nicer than the Greggs ones 🙊 Not a fan of Greggs in general though

DobbyTheHouseElk · 11/09/2021 19:48

I used to live near a co-op and loved their food. Especially the fair trade chocolate chip cake.

I had a ex who suggested going out for a takeaway Indian. Fabulous I thought. Parked up next to the Indian restaurant and off he disappeared into the co-op next door. Came out with co-op Indian ready meals!

ConsulTremas · 11/09/2021 19:49

Their vegan tiffin bar is lovely, and I’m not even a vegan.

weegiemum · 11/09/2021 19:51

Their fair trade wine is good, especially the Chenin Blanc at just under a fiver. Tastes much more expensive! Also like the Pinot Grigio.

bangingbins · 11/09/2021 19:53

My local supermarket is a coop and I love it Re the Portuguese tarts though, get a frozen box from Costco, exactly the same and far more economic

Crikeyalmighty · 11/09/2021 19:58

Find them hit and miss— some things really good— others sloppy bland mush - same applies to Aldi and Lidl too

bangingbins · 11/09/2021 20:13

The best thing about my local Coop was the cat who lived in a house opposite. Pipkin. He's moved house now but he used to own the car park, so if wanted to lounge in the main driveway he would and everyone manoeuvred around him. When the weather got colder he used to sit inside the doors with the blessing of the manager. A customer complained once and she got banned. His owner customised a his-vis for him that said "do not feed me" as he was always scamming dreamies

This is my favourite ever story on MN Grin
bangingbins · 11/09/2021 20:23

@StartingGrid I have a pic of him in his hi vis somewhere. He's an absolute local legend. The local fb group was very happy when he rocked up in his new house and instantly started visiting the neighbours Smile

We have had no access to the Co Op for the last 6 months. I miss the lasagne, paella, cheese twists and decent wine. Our Tesco wine is crap (Waico Bay? Blended shite) and the Waitrose busy with out of towners. I drive 10 miles for the Co Op and Marks.

Snowwhite78 · 11/09/2021 21:13

'I drinking water but still thinking this' ... is a very cute very endearing tipsy statement and made me chuckle a lot. Cheers OP 🍷

Oh yes, CoOp purple box pizzas are awesome

Three0fivepointfour · 11/09/2021 21:21

Did you put both ready meals in the oven at the same time knowing you’d need both? Or was the first so good you then cooked the second. Remarkable restraint. Or were they microwaved?

Coop chocolate is the best. They do lovely tiger bread too. Be careful about who you tell about their olive bread. I told a neighbour and that was the last time I got any as she is more organized than me!
