Inspired/copied/due to lack of my own ideas

What phrases/come backs/irritating things do people say on MN?

OP posts:
Namechangedforthreadbackafter · 07/09/2021 12:34

Oh I named changed for this thread so no one can look up mine .

Things I find irritating are:

'thrown under the bus' I mean what idiot started that saying off

'cock fucker' 'fuckery' not sure why but I hate it

“Did you mean to be so rude?” Er, yes.
“No is a complete sentence.” In real life it really isn’t.

Namechangedforthreadbackafter · 07/09/2021 12:37

I love the short answers though

Diagram needed

I must have a short attention space or easily bored because any really long winded posted I scroll on by

“Did you mean to be so rude?” Er, yes

Hah! My exact thought.

I'd forgotten those. I think people often mean to be rude.

“Be kind” pisses me off because it’s usually used to try and shut down a discussion. Often posters aren’t even being unkind, just not agreeing with whoever is saying to be kind.

CourgetteSeason · 07/09/2021 12:39

Whatever it is people say about boiling their piss

ComtesseDeSpair · 07/09/2021 12:40

Cock lodger. It doesn’t even make sense. In virtually none of the situations where it’s used is the OP exchanging lodgings in return for some great sex and companionship - which she might see as a fair exchange. It’s almost invariably just a shit relationship.

Lucythewonderdog · 07/09/2021 12:40

“Food of the Gods” irrationally annoys me.

CatMandarin · 07/09/2021 12:41

Darked on hee hee
Spider willies hee hee

People describing someone expressing a different opinion from them as "screaming."
Eg. "Why do people scream that we should do so and so and then scream that we do this."

Namechangedforthreadbackafter · 07/09/2021 12:41

@CourgetteSeason

Whatever it is people say about boiling their piss
That's just odd.

Some feel the need to use 'fuck' or cunt or something similar as if it adds to their rage.

GlitchStitch · 07/09/2021 12:41

Makes my teeth itch- only ever heard this on MN and I HATE it.

byvirtue · 07/09/2021 12:42

“Give your head a wobble”

Gives me the rage.

Notgoingonholiday · 07/09/2021 12:42

Weird horrible names for people like 'cockwomble'. So odd, what's wrong with the traditional names Grin
Also 'fuck off to the other side of fuck, and then fuck off some more' or something like that.

Another odd one that makes no sense but some posters just love it for reasons known to themselves. Perhaps they might care to say why they love it?

On every thread about size or weight at least 8 people will say 'we've lost sight of what a healthy weight is'. No one ever seems to lose sight of anything else, just weight stuff.

They must have a spreadsheet of stock phrases for each subject.

LubaLuca · 07/09/2021 12:43

I don't like the cutesy curses, like cockwomble and twunt. There are perfectly good profanities to be used, there's no need to dilute them for lady ears.

Namechangedforthreadbackafter · 07/09/2021 12:43

“Give your head a wobble”

Gives me the rage.

Another that annoys me. I didn't realise there were so many that made no actual sense at all.
OP posts:
SpamThief · 07/09/2021 12:44

Yeah I can't bear the overwhelming twee of cockwomble and wankbadger and all that nonsense.

PurpleDaisies · 07/09/2021 12:45

Anything where someone has replace a letter in a swear word with an asterisk, eg f*ck. Just choose a different word or type it properly.

LukeEvansWife · 07/09/2021 12:45

Boob/boobing/boob monster

Bubs/hubs/hubby/baba

"Phone 101 to log it" - errrrr no, it doesnt work like that

BeaucoupFish · 07/09/2021 12:46

@Lucythewonderdog

“Food of the Gods” irrationally annoys me.
Usually referring to something rank like salad cream on toast !
PurpleDaisies · 07/09/2021 12:46

"Phone 101 to log it" - errrrr no, it doesnt work like that

That’s pretty much always said as a joke.

This drives me nuts too. Most weight threads are full of nonsense and disordered eating, either one lettuce leaf a day or five pizzas for dinner being ok.
LukeEvansWife · 07/09/2021 12:48

Tinkly laugh
Just be breezy
Did you mean to be so rude

And yes "be kind" is generally used by a poster who has been anything but earlier in the thread

Small people (see also "smalls") to describe children
