Inspired/copied/due to lack of my own ideas

What phrases/come backs/irritating things do people say on MN?

OP posts:
eddiemairswife · 07/09/2021 13:04

'Didn't want to read and run' means 'I have nothing interesting or relevant to say, but I want my voice to be heard'.

LukeEvansWife · 07/09/2021 13:04

*GreenTortoise" Yes, when really their toddler has eaten a shit load of chocolate and cake Grin

SionnachRua · 07/09/2021 13:04

Head tilt and tinkly laugh. The poster thinks they seem superior and winning, I think they're a gimp.

Using 'baby' as in "so I brought baby to the soft play..." Irrationally annoys me. Just make up a fucking name if you must.

MyCatEatsPrawnCrackers · 07/09/2021 13:04

Oh and I hate HTH. So smug and nasty.

HyacynthBucket · 07/09/2021 13:05

"Ducks in a row". I don't know why but this is so irritating, especially as as soon as one person says it, up pop loads more to repeat it on the same post.

PurpleDaisies · 07/09/2021 13:06

This drives me up the wall. It’s THE baby. It’s not hard!

traintraveller · 07/09/2021 13:06

When someone shows you who they are believe them or something like that, always spouted on the relationships board.

99victoria · 07/09/2021 13:07

'How old are you? You sound really young'

'Are you 12?'

notacooldad · 07/09/2021 13:07

Describing food as "yummy"
I didnt even use word like that with my babies!!
Naive. It lost its humour the second time it was posted a couple if light years ago and now some people use as an perfectly normal adjective, eg we went to a naive restraint in a naive part if town and the foid was yummy.
I get the rage over that , which incidentally i also hate!🤣
People " fume and " rage" over relatively minor things.
I often think these people have little resilience.

DowntownFrown · 07/09/2021 13:08

@GreenTortoise yes! They can’t openly brag though so they have to word it as if they’re concerned they’re not eating enough Hmm

Soubriquet · 07/09/2021 13:08

“Boils my piss”

Just a recipe for a nasty water infection

LukeEvansWife · 07/09/2021 13:08

Im not going to claim I spat tea over the keyboard (as that is another phrase I hate!) but I have just laughed at this Grin

BlackShadowCat · 07/09/2021 13:08

You sound like hard work.

I think this is considered the ultimate MN put down.

LukeEvansWife · 07/09/2021 13:09

Are you on glue?

choli · 07/09/2021 13:09

Sarnie. Is sandwich so hard to type?

Flatdisco · 07/09/2021 13:09

@LookAtMoiPloise

“Did you mean to be so rude?” Er, yes

Hah! My exact thought.

I've replied with yes because pp was rude.
ohohovex · 07/09/2021 13:10

The hills are that way

Otherthanetta · 07/09/2021 13:11

Not a saying but I find I do think some posters use the f word unnecessarily. It makes them sound as though they are trying to be young and cool.

jeanne16 · 07/09/2021 13:11

I hate the following:

To be over the moon.

Fur babies for pets.

Not my circus, not my monkey.

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 07/09/2021 13:11

I hate it when people start trying to be clever about telling the op to get a grip.

"You should go to the grip shop and buy yourself one"

"I have a spare grip if you need it"

Or even posting photos of a curby grip, so bloody annoying.

youvegottenminuteslynn · 07/09/2021 13:12

Head tilt
Tinkly laugh

Fuck me, I hate those phrases two so much.

notacooldad · 07/09/2021 13:13

'thrown under the bus' I mean what idiot started that saying off

That's been around at least 35 years, nothing to do with MN Confused

LukeEvansWife · 07/09/2021 13:13

No, tbf it is a legitimate part of the English language and no about being ‘young and cool’. That’s like those who say ‘oh it shows a limited vocabulary’ - I know plenty of people with vast vocabularies that still say fuck and cunt
