To have missed the menstrual meeting

where it was decided that sanitary towels will now have a definite front and back which will be indicated by hieroglyphics.

What the fuck does a star mean? Two stylised arrows pointing towards the star?

Don’t come at me with “duh! Just use a mooncup! Just use washable towels!” That’s not an option for some and the least we can expect is to make disposable sanitary items user friendly.

Hahhahahaha! Yep, with you.

CalishataFolkart · 26/08/2021 00:37

@FangsForTheMemory

* = bumhole?
But the star is at the narrow end which feels like it should be the front. So is it meant to be the clit? Ach.

Is it Always? The star goes to the front, I though the pack made that fairly clear.

Oh aye you’re right. The pack does have a serving suggestion with a big old arrow.

Urgh I can’t wear pads any more. I can’t bear that they’re all scented. Thrush in a fucking box.

AndTheReasonIsYou · 26/08/2021 01:41

Remember when pads were just a fucking shite rectangle? No front and back. No floral smell.

AndTheReasonIsYou · 26/08/2021 01:41

😬 white rectangle.

Kanaloa · 26/08/2021 02:02

Wonder why they use a star instead of something more easily understood. When dcs were small some nappies used to say front/back in little letters.

Marmalady75 · 26/08/2021 02:05

I bet it was a man that decided to make them smell like cheap air freshener! I bet it was another man that thought women ar so thick they need help with which direction to stick the pad. Angry

AlmostAJillSandwich · 26/08/2021 03:35

I dread the day my preferred brand die out, no weird contours/patterns/fragrances for as long as i can.

CoalCraft · 26/08/2021 05:53

Most unbranded sanitary towels are not scented. I use co-op own brand and they are great - do the job with no frills... Though they could be clearer about which end was the front.

I have never met anyone who liked scented pads, yet all the big name ones are, and it's a really horrible sickly smell too.

MadameMonk · 26/08/2021 06:08

Ive often wondered this too. Throughout my long association of 40 odd years of periods. Not sure I've ever once been totally confident I've got it around the right way. A recent one had a coy heart shape embossed into one end. So are hearts red, so go up front, or are they kinda bum shaped and go out back?

My DD says no one in her generation or beyond will need to fret about this, they’ll use washable pads, period pants and sponges/cups.

I’m personally glad that the dude who designs these nonsense pads will be out of job soon.

Blastandbollocks · 26/08/2021 06:37

Love Tesco's as they're unscented. Tend to buy in bulk - 6 or 7 packs at a time so haven't bought some for a while and they don't (or didn't) have arrows. Night pads are amazing and that's obvious how it fits, day are about the same both ways and the wings are long so fit well.

RoseDog · 26/08/2021 06:44

It thought it flower 🤷🏼‍♀️ I refuse to use always as they are just thrush waiting to happen!

iamthesandstorm · 26/08/2021 06:48

I had to buy always in an emergency recently. .oh my word the smell. ..vile. .it made me feel sick.

DuringDinnerMints · 26/08/2021 06:58

I use natracare. Unscented, no bleach or plastics used anywhere and the comfiest I've found. To be fair, I still wonder if I'm using them back to front though.

BigRedFrog · 26/08/2021 07:06

I've never had a problem knowing which end is front or back.
If you use winged pads, the shorter end from the wing is the front.
If the ends are equal length, they can be used either way.
I use night pads, but I wear the longest part up front as that's where it's needed the most for me.

RhodesianRidgeback · 26/08/2021 07:06

I use Natracare too, I know this sounds bonkers but I’m sure I bleed more using always or body form, maybe something to do with all the chemicals? Much lighter when I use natracare.

Acrasia · 26/08/2021 07:57

I wear pads the opposite way around to the diagram because otherwise I end up leaking at the front (sorry for TMI). One of the problems with towels (apart from the fucking scent) is that the manufacturers haven’t worked out that there are different types of fanjos which impact the flow of “things”.

YesILikeItToo · 26/08/2021 08:00

I agree with Arcasia, they’ve always had a right way round and I’ve always worn them the wrong way round (except at night, when the right way round suits me better).

FairFuming · 26/08/2021 08:06

This is why disposable pads always infuriated me, if they weren’t those horrible stinking ones they were impossible to get round the right way or they chaffed like hell. Period pants and reusable pads are definitely the future.

smokeyjoes · 26/08/2021 08:12

What's the best period pants please for wearing no other product and to wash once a day?

Rainbowshit · 26/08/2021 08:14

Oh is it meant to be.a flower? It looks like a drain to me!!😂😂

DobbyTheHouseElk · 26/08/2021 08:18

I always put the thickest end at the front. Oh well I do t use them now I’m using reusable all the way, they are so comfy and no stinky fake smell.

Wish I’d found them years ago.
