To feel personally attacked re: my semi negligent parenting by Blueys parents

How do they have the energy to play with their kids ALLLLL the time.

All the kit. The little games. The fun ideas. I do play with my kids obviously but good grief. More than 10 minutes role play and I want to to gouge my eyes out.

Light hearted obvs Blush

😂 I always think this they make me feel like a total failure! Although it is still my favourite ever kids programme (well from since I was a kid anyway).

OverTheRubicon · 23/08/2021 20:39

Sort of, but I love that Bluey's mum goes off for a run and leaves dad in charge without even checking in with him, let alone him moaning - and they do have lots of times when the kids play alone too If it's any consolation though, even the writer said that the dad was better than him on his best day, it's not just us Grin

Stroller15 · 23/08/2021 20:43

Yes. I concur. The dad makes me feel like a terrible parent with his high energy engagement, but then I laugh at his jokes/silliness and feel like a terrible adult for having a 5yr oldest sense of humour, so it all evens out.

mommybear1 · 23/08/2021 21:01

Absolutely love Bluey (especially the Takeaway episode 🤣). However my heart sinks everytime DS watches it as he then asks to recreate it - who has an elaborate shop set up like they do 🤷🏻‍♀️ Mommy's efforts have been met with some derision from DS and DH tbh 😂.

Pinkflipflop85 · 23/08/2021 21:06

Blueys dad puts me to shame!

I love the barbecue episode. "Is nobody going to mention the salad?!"

Usernamesarenotmyforte · 23/08/2021 21:08

I feel the same as all of you. BUT I do like that the parents seem to equally parent (actually, dad is possibly more often with the kids) and actually my husband seems to have caught some competitive dad bug from watching it. There was a week this summer where I barely saw my daughter they went out on so many adventures!

Siameasy · 23/08/2021 21:09

Are they dogs? DD (6) watches it but I use the time to stare into space

I dislike playing - I’ll happily look at a book together, walk and chat, do a craft activity or a board game but playing NO

ChloeDecker · 23/08/2021 21:10

More than 10 minutes role play and I want to to gouge my eyes out.

Maybe that’s why the episodes are only 7 minutes long. Bluey’s parents are probably ready to scream by then too Grin

meow1989 · 23/08/2021 21:11

YABVU.

Chilli and Bandit are parenting goals, suck it Flop!

CarryOnNurse20 · 23/08/2021 21:17

@meow1989 to be fair I’d take Bluey and bingo over that whiny little b that is bing!

Yes. Dad and bluey are blue heelers and mum and bingo are red heelers.
Someaddedsugar · 23/08/2021 21:22

As much as they put my parenting to shame, I absolutely love Bluey. So much so that DP came in the other day and jokingly asked if I was enjoying myself. I suddenly realised DS had wandered off and was playing in his room while I was sat laughing at Bluey in peace 😂. The episode where they are all neighbours in a row of houses is brilliant.

ThirdElephant · 23/08/2021 21:26

It is a fabulous show, but I do now have to play 'magic xylophone' and the like daily.

HotPinkTeaSet · 23/08/2021 21:30

I love the doctors receptionist episode - “OK, we’ll see you in 15 months” Grin

Figmentofimagination · 23/08/2021 21:31

Love Bluey! I love that it's just a family having fun, and I love how much it makes my 4yo DS laugh. Don't love that any game DS sees he wants to recreate (looking at you tickle crabs!)

My favourite episode is where Chilli tells the story of Bluey learning to walk. She was a shuffle bum and learnt to walk a lot later than friends. Reminds me so much of DS and made me cry a tiny bit.

YoComoManzanas · 23/08/2021 21:33

My kid immediately wanted to re-enact the backpack episode. I ended up carrying him around for ages and pretending to rummage for things in my new kiddy shaped backpack. Grin

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 23/08/2021 21:34

Oh God Bluey. I fucking love it

My favourite episode is when the kids are being old ladies on the bus.

This hasn't happened yet and I might have to stop her watching just in case it does Grin
Wtfdidwedo · 23/08/2021 21:37

I love Bluey! The cosleeping one is my favourite, and agree with @Figmentofimagination that the competitive baby group one was brilliant.

I will concur with others that reenacting things like the backpacking episode is not ideal.

Clydie89 · 23/08/2021 21:37

I love Bluey, but unfortunately DS (2) is not YET a fan. He'd much rather watch Tee and Mo on repeat at the moment, which is good and equally good parenting but not half as funny!

Doghairismyglitter · 23/08/2021 21:40

I LOVELOVELOVE Bluey. Me and DC watch 1 episode before bed all together each night. It’s the only children’s show I’ll happily watch.
The episode where Bingo learns to sleep alone and dreams that Chilli her Mum is the Sun; makes me cry every.single.time 😭 So many episodes make me happy cry actually!
Plus the Takeaway episode is genius, I have felt like Bandit one hundred times over 😂

My 3 year old pretends to be the “crazy pillow” constantly. And I’m forever getting “dinged”! I like to think I play with my boys a LOT actually and have a lot of silliness, the show actually gives me ideas, it’s bloody brilliant. Die hard fan I am now Grin

Themostwonderfultimeoftheyear · 23/08/2021 21:40

Bluey is fab but does make me feel like an inadequate parent though.

Applesarenice · 23/08/2021 21:42

If I am asked to play neighbours one more time…

Cannes12 · 23/08/2021 21:45

I honestly think Bluey was commissioned by the Austrialian government to teach macho Aussie men how to be nurturing parents.

MarieIVanArkleStinks · 23/08/2021 21:46

'Bluey'. Kinell. For a minute there I thought you were referring to an actual person!
