Following the awful killing last night I am struggling to find why apart from a very few professions anyone in this country needs a gun license.

@HermioneKipper

We’re also not talking about a bloody air rifle either are we. Although given loads of idiots use them to cause anti social behaviour and injure small animals etc then I think they should be confined to the practice range where they can be checked in and out and not taken away
The club I am a member of is physically tiny, it has nowhere near the space to accommodate safely and securely all the members personal firearms, ontop of the club firearms and the ones they sell. Also I wouldn't be happy to have thousands of pounds of my own personal property under the control and storage of someone else for an indefinite amount of time. Plus that is unworkable for such things as going to other places to shoot, to competitions, performing maintenance and modifications, and for doing such things as practice drills.

There has been another shooting today at a party, fortunately nobody was killed. So how many are there that we don’t hear about.

Apparently, an automatic weapon was used. They were banned in 1934.
