I read this as play with himself and then thought half of MN women would help there .

So CF feels he can dominate you, dictate terms and pick up his car when he says it is convenient (5pm) but when confronted by your DB rather than a mere woman, backs off and concedes 7.30pm

If he's a poor opinion of women then being told off would make him think the OP a complete idiot and the OP 'dignified silence would make him think she's a complete idiot.
