To lock the jackass in (parking thread)

I live in a rural location which is very popular with walkers / bikers / horse riders etc. It's heaving today for some unknown reason as the weather is rubbish!

We have 2 driveways. One which was with the original cottage then a small bit of garden then a second which leads to the additional land we have. The second driveway the forestry commission have a ROW over as the track continues up into the forest. Next to that driveway is a footpath. Both driveways have gates at either end and both say private property/dogs running loose. (Diagram attached - not to scale!)

I have just had a straw delivery and so opened the second driveway gates to let the farmer in and trundled round the back to show him where to put them. He's unloaded and driven off and I've gone to lock the gates back up. Literally as he's driven off and I'm walking down a guy has pulled in the gates and parked up and 3 kids have jumped out and he started unloading their bikes.

I politely ask him to move as he's on private land and he says there are no signs he thought it was a parking spot. I say they are on the gate and it's clearly an enclosed piece of land that is not a parking space and he says he couldn't see them as the gates were open but he'll only be a few minutes. No problem, I say, I'll pop back and shut the gates in 5. Off I toddle.

I have returned and his car is still there and he has gone. He has left a note on the windscreen which says "had to park here no other spaces". I mean WTF?!

WIBU to shut the gates, padlock the fucker in, block the gates with my truck AND then disappear for at least 48 hours?

I have locked the gates and put my truck in the way

Well done OP Grin

Now he's back, when you eventually have to confront him, you'll probably be told his DC has some mortal condition which requires regular medication and that you're "killing them" ...

EvenRosesHaveThorns · 31/07/2021 13:09

Time to run a nice long bath and not answer the door for at least an hour

Notaroadrunner · 31/07/2021 13:09

Don't call the dogs in. CF doesn't deserve you to run out and rescue him and his kids now. Wait until he knocks and then do not dare take any shit from him. Keep the dogs with you and have your phone in your hand to call the police if he gets nasty. What an absolute prick he is. Hope his kids learn a valuable lesson today - do not disrespect other people's property.

Newfluff · 31/07/2021 13:09

I can heartily recommend a pair of geese although they don't seem to differentiate between strangers and family.

Peacocks make the most dreadful scream at the crack of dawn and don't stop.

Wineat5isfine · 31/07/2021 13:09

Totally invested in this 🍿

Well done OP!! CF!

Faevern · 31/07/2021 13:10

So his few minutes was 1 hour 45 mins? Please say he is still there waiting Grin

WinterRose92 · 31/07/2021 13:10

Ha ha this is brilliant! Serves him right! I can’t get over the cheek of some people, honestly!

BlueEyesWhiteDragon · 31/07/2021 13:10

I don't know if this is a victory. They have cycled off again into the woods the other side. They went up the back gate and obviously realised the dogs can't get out the garden. A child has gone over the front gate got a couple of bags out the boot and they have taken those with them.

I think I want to live in the country just so I have the opportunity to do something like this. Very satisfying.

lastcall · 31/07/2021 13:11

Not only should OP leave them there until he apologises and asks if she can please let him out, but OP should require him to explain to his children IN FRONT OF HER that he was acting like an entitled twat, that he knew he shouldn't have parked there, that he knew he'd been warned, and that he'd taken the piss because he thought it could get away with it. And that he was in the wrong. Entirely. And that they should learn from this and never follow such a shitty parenting example.

Seriously. make him explain the error of his ways to his children before you let him out. (and film if for us)

Ooh DH has just made me a cup of tea and we're loving this thread.....

CuriousaboutSamphire · 31/07/2021 13:11

You now own a new car 😁

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 31/07/2021 13:11

I absolutely love it when CFs are thwarted, because they NEVER count on their victims giving as good as they get, rather than just rolling over and licking their boots, as they naturally expect them to do.

I still remember a thread from ages ago when two 'wallet-forgetting' CFs unwittingly went out for a big meal together and must have got the shock of their lives when, at the end as the bill was brought out, BOTH of them suddenly started their well-rehearsed sighing and patting their empty pockets Grin

billy1966 · 31/07/2021 13:12

It's not stupidity, just a man that has zero respect for anyone and their property, particularly if it's a woman.

He said "fxxk you" to the OP when he took the decision to leave the car there.

I would leave him stew.

Put on your dressing gown and in an hours time tell him you were in the bath.

CF.

yeOldeTrout · 31/07/2021 13:12

I've got mixed feelings about this thread.

I agree parker was unreasonable, I know OP can validly do all she's done, but fundamentally, the car parked there was never an actual inconvenience to her. Moreover, OP now has the huge inconvenience of how does she want to get out of this situation. Sounds like OP is trapped in her home.

Fun fantasy but reality of execution not so appealing.

romdowa · 31/07/2021 13:12

Bravo!! Well done for taking a stand against cf everywhere!

lastcall · 31/07/2021 13:12

Oh, and set up your BBQ and have a few empty beer bottles lying around. Tell him you can't move it until tomorrow regardless so he can come back for it at 7am promptly, because they'll you'll be off for the day. Make it painful, OP. This wasn't an accident; he was warned and made the conscious decision to ignore you.

Time to get on with your boozy lunch day OP

They can run but they can't hide forever!

harriethoyle · 31/07/2021 13:13

OP have a couple of VERY LARGE glasses of wine and then you can't possibly move your car...

Fuming stick person you made my day btw!

JollyHolly30 · 31/07/2021 13:13

I'm so proud of you for taking some action!
It's so frustrating when posters do nothing in these situations.

starfish4 · 31/07/2021 13:13

Well, he didn't knock on the door, so you're not to know he's come back.

I reckon he's taken the kids for a pub lunch, so at least you know no one is hungry or needs the loo.

Furloughedpissedoff · 31/07/2021 13:13

I wish we could view the live feed from OP cameras. Come on mumsnet, we want video up load Grin.

Redglitter · 31/07/2021 13:13

I don't know if this is a victory

It definitely is. You've inconvenienced him just now and he's going to have to come back at some point. Probably hoping by the time he does you'll have unblocked him.

melj1213 · 31/07/2021 13:13

Most people are just thick rather than genuine bastards

If the OP had left the drive open and they had parked there without any interaction I would agree, as they could have claimed ignorance that the drive wasn't another car park, but in this case the OP specifically told the CF it was her property and she would give him 5 minutes to reload and leave before she locked the gate.

That is not open to interpretation/misunderstanding - the CF just assumed she wouldn't follow through and he could get his own way.

This is not a victory it's just more cheeky fuckery!

And definitely warrents you being 'out' until late tonight, then in bed until morning.
