Someone has parked over my H bar and blocked my car in ...

WatfordGap · 23/07/2021 15:22

Earlier this year, I had an H bar painted across my dropped kerb because people kept parking over the edge of the dropped bit, meaning I couldn't get in or out of my drive (the drive is narrow and at an angle on a very narrow street with cars parked opposite).

So far, it's pretty much done the trick. But today I went out for an hour and came back and someone has parked a good foot or so over the end of it, meaning that I can't get my car off the driveway. Unfortunately for them, I was not using the vehicle which was (and still is) parked on the drive, but another one. :)

So I've parked across the rest of my H bar. There's now enough room between my front bumper and their rear one to get a matchbox in. There's about a foot between them and the car parked in front of them.

Today is my last day at work for 2 weeks. Do you think I should have an early glass of wine to celebrate? Grin

@peridito

No the point here is that the OP is being unreasonable in her reaction to this specific incident .

Because of her circumstances ,not that of hypothetical others .

Aw @peridito why not drop this and just enjoy the fun? Nothing bad is happening to anyone here. It's just funny.

@Happytodayhappytomorrow

Perhaps a note on the windscreen of the badly parked car explaining situation and the reason for the H bar would have been a better/nicer/kinder first step.

First offence and all that

'To err is human, to forgive divine'

Smile Smile Smile

This is very unlikely to be the wanker/cunt’s first offence. But if they’re massively inconvenienced when they want to drive away, it may be their last.

Following!! I need to know what happens

Yes! I've put my out of office on and turned my alarm off.

Hurrah!

The car is still there. I honestly wouldn't be able to move my car now. There is however now a huge space behind my car so I could theoretically move it back.

I have to leave tomorrow about 11am.

No sign of wanker driver.

Oh no,I fear the twat parker will knock on your neighbours door and persuade them to move their car forward slightly thus enabling twat parker to shunt car out. Bugger!

@peridito

Gosh you're easily angered aren't you OP ?

I was just going by your diagram - not obvious to me why you can't get your second car off the drive . But the point here is that you've indicated that you don't need to .So why are you so determined to make this a huge issue ?

No doubt it's a public spirited effort to highlight the rights of all dropped kerb owners .

It's a diagram NOT a photograph so is hardly going to be wholly accurate! 🙄

She is unreasonable at parking over her own drive? That's all she's done.

That's an odd way to look at it.

  1. Love the diagram - colours, key and excellent drawing to scale!
  2. Yes they are cunts.
  3. I so wish you could set up a live video feed.
peridito · 23/07/2021 18:35

I can't help but feel that a more productive approach would be to leave a note /speak to owner of car . Not to go straight into outrage mode when it's not actually causing her any difficulty .It's her reaction that I'm regarding as unreasonable .

As said ,first offence .You don't want to turn it into a war ,you want them not to do it again .You catch more flies with honey than vinegar .

And maybe we could turn our skills at hypothesising and quoting anecdotes towards the car parker ? Who knows what's going on their life ,what stresses they are under or whether any mitigating factors exist for them committing this heinous crime ?

.

People like that piss me off. I remember when I was 41 weeks pregnant and we got back from a walk and someone had literally parked across our full drive. When they came back a few hours later and I waddled out and gave them a piece of my mind, they drove off sheepishly. I was in early labour and we could have needed to get out to go to the hospital.

Sparklingbrook · 23/07/2021 18:38

So they knock the door, OP says 'can't move my car i'm over the drink drive limit' then what happens?
Presumably they'll knock the neighbour's door? Maybe get a taxi home, leaving the car there and OP still unable to get out?
