To be embarrassed my deodorant didn't work today?

So I was trapped in the office exceeding 30 degrees. It was unbearable. I tried a new deodorant this morning and by this afternoon I could smell body odour on myself. I'm so embarrassed. It's a fairly new job too.

Please don't be embarrassed. If I worked in your office and could smell anything I would probably assume it was my own BO on a day like today! I'm sure everyone was in the same boat.

Deodorant or anti perspirant? You need anti perspirant really to stop the sweat in the first place.

QueenLagertha · 21/07/2021 21:28

This happened me one day last week. Rubbed some hand sanitiser gel on my pits and problem sorted

RainbowBriteUk · 21/07/2021 21:29

It was anti-perspirant

Sanex too so I thought it would be decent

You want Mitchum!!

LubaLuca · 21/07/2021 21:32

Ah, don't worry about it. Most antiperspirants would fail at those temperatures, everyone was probably aware of their own sweaty pits.

I can recommend the cream antiperspirants, those like Dove and Sure Maximum Protection. They're very good at preventing sweating especially if you put them on the night before.

Comedycook · 21/07/2021 21:32

I doubt it was very noticeable...my ds shirts reek of body odour in this weather but you can't smell him when you just walk past him or stand next to him

OnTheBoardwalk · 21/07/2021 21:32

@fucketyfuckwit

You want Mitchum!!
This!

Game changer. The prescription deodorant burnt my skin but Mitchum is great

PumpkinPie2016 · 21/07/2021 21:32

Don't feel embarrassed Flowers you probably thought the smell was stronger than it smelt to others.

Another vote for mitchum though - I use it all the time and it's very good.

monkeysox · 21/07/2021 21:33

Sure max strength is only thing that stops me sweating like a builders arse crack

Iggly · 21/07/2021 21:33

Just take it with you and top up during the day. These things happen

OnTheBoardwalk · 21/07/2021 21:34

And wash with soap like simple not cream bars like Dove

These is what mumsnet has told me over the years

Ingvermama · 21/07/2021 21:34

I only use deodorant, it's a natural one a cream with essential oils. It doesn't stop swearing at all, but I always smell fabulous, even after a 12 hour shift in this heat at the hospital.

Ingvermama · 21/07/2021 21:35

Haha it's doesn't stop sweating or swearing Grin

Hankunamatata · 21/07/2021 21:35

I like sure maximum, could never got on with mitchum smell. Put it on the night before and in morning (I also have to under boob Blush). Always keep an impulse spray and some wipes in my desk too

HowManyToes · 21/07/2021 21:37

Sure maximum for men - I’ve tried everything and this is by far the best

CtrlU · 21/07/2021 21:39

It happens.

I vote Mitchum. Tried it once a few years ago and it was a game changer. I’ve never smelled BO on myself since.

Powertothepetal · 21/07/2021 21:45

Sanex is shit!
DH ran out of sure and used the Sanex I had and omg, he came in dripping with sweat one day and I swear to god I nearly retched putting his t shirt in the wash.
The smell was so strong 🤢

It’s no good for me either, I also bought a new deodorant yesterday, ‘Trust’, really expensive at nearly £9, used it today right after a nice soapy bath and I can smell BO on myself.
Considering the price and the fact Trust advertises no smell for 3 - 6 days.
Disappointed is an understatement.

Dove i find really shit aswell.

TrueRefuge · 21/07/2021 21:46

Don't worry at all, I'm sure nobody else was close enough long enough to smell, and on a day like today nobody decent would judge you!

I second Mitchum by the way!

QueenAstrid · 21/07/2021 21:48

Mitchum’s great.

OP I’m sure that only you noticed. Given today’s temperatures, I’m sure half the population would have had BO

Puffinhead · 21/07/2021 21:48

I love Mitchum and I’m a very sweaty person.

rainyskylight · 21/07/2021 21:49

Another vote for Mitchum. My husband also uses it and it was a game changer for him too - although he uses the women’s neutral version rather than the men’s.

itcouldhave · 21/07/2021 21:54

Perspirex or Driclor FTW.

The4teddybears · 21/07/2021 21:54

Another vote for Mitchum. The new sure 72 hour is brilliant as well ….. not sure if it works for 72 hours as i have never left that long between showering .
