The Italian Captain is a bully!

The Italian Football Captain is a horrible bully.

He should have got a red card for the way he treated Saka pulling his shirt collar and dragging him to the floor.

Also when Italy were against Spain the way he grabbed the Spanish captain persuading him to do penalties on the Italian side.

I can’t stand him. He deserves no praise and his team played dirty!

@Lemonmelonsun

I also feel there should be a cut off to how many yellow cards a team can get before being penalised?
There is..certain amount of yellows for a player means they miss a game..not sure how many or when they get wiped though. Another issue with that is what one ref sees as a yellow another sees as nothing..so really wouldn't work..
LongCovidNotCoping · 13/07/2021 18:58

Since when is a yellow card a deterrent?! It’s a joke.

If your DC had done to Saka what Chiellini did to Saka - would you still be proud?

Thought not.

I have no doubt Chiellini's mamma is bursting with pride right now.
DamsonJammyBastard · 13/07/2021 19:01

Cheats WIN. Italy did. So did Argentina with their 'hand of God' shot.

The Hand of God grievance will never end! Even now he's dead. Someone will be grumbling about it in 2086. And Maradona was far and away the most fouled player in the '86 World Cup, a fair few from English players in that famous game.

SallySycamore · 13/07/2021 19:02

I was answering the "how would it be possible?" bit.

Contact sports include martial arts (where the whole point is body contact), rugby as well as football. Non-contact sports include things like tennis and swimming where you're separated, but also sports like netball and lacrosse where you aren't allowed body contact.

So it wouldn't be completely unfeasible to play non-contact football.

Ratalie · 13/07/2021 19:05

100% agree. If one of OUR players had behaved like that, he'd have been red-carded, and Italy would have been given a penalty.
The ignorance is astounding.

You think that if an England player fouled an Italian player around the half way line, a penalty would have been awarded?

In my decades following football, this might be the most ridiculous insight I've ever heard.

Ratalie · 13/07/2021 19:05

Wait...i think I may have missed sarcasm.

I hope!

The Italy team are awful aggressive bullies - and cheats. They should have been disqualified after that behaviour.

'Cheats never prosper' is bullshit. Cheats WIN. Italy did. So did Argentina with their 'hand of God' shot.

But the apologists will come along and say, 'oooh but it's how they're TAUGHT to play.'

Utter UTTER bullshit.

ENGLAND WOZ ROBBED! Hmm[/quote]
You are embarrassing yourself - I understand the butt hurt but this is just ridiculous.

XelaM · 13/07/2021 19:11

The only cheat was Sterling with that dive against Denmark Grin

People who have never watched football until Sunday coming up with ridiculous crap.

There have been times in history when past Italian teams really played dirty. Sunday was not that time. Chiellini's foul was not that bad and a clear yellow card. Saka thought so too. There were no appeals at all for a red card from anyone.

...and for those on here who are clueless about football- 2 yellow cards equals a red and missing the next game. So yes, yellow cards matter to players a lot

DuncinToffee · 13/07/2021 19:11

This thread is funny âš½

It would be pretty unfeasible. The game would be unrecognisable from what it is now - no close contact marking, pretty much no tackling, no shoulder to shoulder. I don't see how you'd make a watchable game with no contact.

I can foresee a time when heading is banned due to the dementia risk. I wince now when I see them do it.

Not only did that look dangerous, it screamed of, at the very minimum, white privilege. If I was Saka I'd be beyond furious at the memes that are circulating now.

So you are saying Chiellini would not have defended as effectively against a white player? Do you even realise what a stupid statement that is? I'm calling out xenophobia (italians are "dirty" and "cheats") from most of this thread, from the posters who know f all about football anyway. In reality if there ever was a tournament that was piloted towards a win there is one from 1966 that springs to mind. But that was not a cheat as the English don't cheat of course (like they don't do corruption, just sleaze).
HeyGirlHeyBoy · 13/07/2021 19:49

SallySycamore, I meant 'How would it be possible? ' as it stands, ie how could Frownette think football as we know it is no contact.

claralara42 · 13/07/2021 19:51

his team played dirty!

Says an England fan? Pots and kettles.

Stop. You are just embarrassing yourself.

Penalty 😂😂🙈🙈. Do you know how a penalty is awarded?

A penalty?!?! From the halfway line nearly.. not really how it works.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 13/07/2021 19:56

FlamonEckVera is joking! Grin (I assume!!)

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 13/07/2021 20:03

I don’t understand how jerking someone backwards by his neck isn’t considered a dangerous foul - it could do serious damage. There is a good reason why tackling round the neck is a professional foul, red card offence in rugby - I can’t see how it gets less dangerous if the game is football.

How was it white privilege?

He tackled (and yes fouled) the player with the ball. Kind of how the game is played. Skin colour had nothing to do with why he was tackled.

The racist slurs from his own nations fans however is disgusting.

I do hope so, but with some of the comments on this thread, it is hard to tell! A lot of ignorance being shown.

he'd have been less vigorous with a white player?

No.
